Historical restoration contractor Jamie Kearly thought she'd found her happily-ever-after house, until she lost the sale at the last minute to a higher offer. Attorney Richard Damien has purchased his grandmother's Victorian, because growing up in the historic village of Elm's Corner was the only time he's ever felt a sense of belonging. When he hired J. Kearly Restoration, he didn't anticipate the contractor would come with a bossy lady foreman, but Jamie's dad has sprained his ankle, leaving Jamie to take charge of the project. Now she has no choice but to transform her dream house into Rick's perfect home. Soon Rick will learn it takes more than four walls to make a house a home, and as for Jamie--well, it's going to take more than a hammer to nail down this confirmed bachelor.
I loved reading this story...Jamie is the daughter of the owner of Kearly Restoration, Her dad has taught her well and she does great work with these type houses,so much so that when an old house in Elm's Corner came up for sale she was ready to make it hers and restore it to its former glory. Unbeknownst to her the grandson of the estate owner had now decided he wanted to come home and have the house restored himself and he makes an offer way above what Jamie could afford and "stole" it right out from under her at the last moment. Then to make matters worse or maybe better as we will see later, he hires Kearly Restoration to bring the home he knew as a boy back to its former self. When Richard comes to town and meets Jaime -sparks begin to fly. Then when he sees how great her work is ,he admires the young woman and then meets her big wonderful family that owns a resturant nearby, you can say the two become even closer as he eats there often and her MOM wants to play matchmaker. I loved this story Lisa , you outdone yourself with these characters.
LOVE IN A VICTORIAN is classic Norato with warm, wonderful characters and a charming setting. I read the book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! I was pulled into the story and felt like I was there, and because I'm an animal lover, the cat was the icing on the cake. This is a well-written, compelling, fast read, and I highly recommend it! I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I debated between three and four stars so I'll leave it at four. It was a nice read on a sick day, but not my favorite. It was very Hallmark like, predictable plot, sweet (and rather shallow) romance, and seasonal setting.
Love in a Victorian is a deliciously sweet story. Right from the start I was pulled into this unique historic village of Elm’s Corner filled with the most delightful characters. I found myself laughing and wondering and even getting a little hungry. I loved every bit of this story.
Lisa Norato is a great story-teller. Her descriptive style of writing lets you clearly picture the story she is telling. I am so happy that there will be more books in this series. I can’t wait to read them all.
What a delightful book. If you could put all the fabulous sights, smells, and tastes of Fall into a book it would have to be this book. I don't think I have ever read a book that actually made me feel like I was actually there. Great descriptions, great characters, and great conversations. I will read this book every fall!
A great read on family, renovation, and romance. You'll be dying for Italian food when you're finished reading. It always amazes me the details that go into good book.
I'd never read this author's work before, and I really enjoyed this book. Full of believable characters and a storyline that held my interest, it was a nice read. I will check out more of her work.
Terrific romance. Wonderful descriptions of Italian food made me hungry. I also really enjoyed reading about renovating a Victorian. Enjoyable quick read. Like a warm hug.
I don't normally read contemporary, but this book is centered around fixing up an old Victorian and it was cheap on Kindle, so I ended up picking it up.
It was about what I expected. This would make the perfect Hallmark Channel movie. Light, fluffy chick flick with a few zany characters and a cute cat.
It was a good read for a few rainy hours without demanding too much or making me stay up too late.
