Laney and her friends have come far since the supernova disaster that killed half of the planet, braving the post apocalyptic conditions, death, and cruelty on their journey across the country to find their families. On the way, Laney has battled her own fears of loss—and it's only gotten worse since she's found herself getting closer to Jerome, a fellow survivor. She may or may not find her father alive in New York and there's only a fifteen percent chance she'll survive to see the next ten years.

But when her group of survivors reaches New York City, the danger has only begun. The world is now cooling and the only way to survive will be to find a place to hide from the coming cold and starvation. Worse still, Laney's caught the attention of a government agency bent on using her to ensure their own survival—and their plans for her might destroy who she is forever. Will Laney be able to break her icy cage of fear and embrace the terror that is life?

The Freeze is the final book of the Barren Trilogy.

The Freeze is the third and final book in the Barren Trilogy.

Laney and her friends have finally reached the eastern states. They are now driving through ice storms. They make it to a farmhouse after being spotted by a helicopter from the government that is looking for them. They finally get to NYC and decide that they will go their separate ways once they have reached Times Square. Laney, Alana, and Jerome all head to the Holiday Inn in NYC to look for Laney's Dad. Tony and Mina were headed to Maine. Gina, Christina, and Jasmine were headed to Florida.

I don't want to go into too much details about the rest of the book b/c I don't want to ruin it for anyone that wants to read the book. Holly did an excellent job of wrapping up the book and giving closure for it's characters. I really enjoyed this series. This is one of my favorite genre of books and Holly did a great job of writing this series. At a few points, I had trouble putting the book down b/c I had to find out how things turned out. I really enjoyed this series!!

I received an ARC from the author and have chosen to review it. This is the third and final book in the Barren Trilogy and it takes us back to where we left off in The Storm. I found this book really interesting. You find out how long it’s been since everything originally happened and it just blew my mind that in such a short amount of time all this had happened. I was really sad to see this trilogy end I had just gotten sucked into their lives and I didn’t want to see them go. This book was such an easy read I just sat down and finished it within a day. I hope the author comes back one day and revisits these characters to see how they are doing.

I was surprised at the last book in the barren trilogy. Freeze was shorter than the others and flew by. I was so impressed with the other two books though it left me wanting a little more. Don't get me wrong it wrapped up all the story lines fabulously, and even expanded the apocalyptic world as it began to freeze in summer. I thought it ironic they ended up back where they began even with the risk of danger but as some left and some fought, some were found and some lost all in all it was a good conclusion to the series. I was left with one big question though, why didn't anyone try to gather seeds and supplies to grow food in that collider? Seriously Laney found her dad and her strength, and her ability to survive and although it did not work out as she wished it worked out. Great series and subtle commentary on climate. Would definitely recommend it to the young ones in my life. Bad things happen but everyone has their strengths. I could not give it my usual 5 stars though because it did seem short and a little rushed, however still a great read.

Wow this one is a lot better than the others in series. Laney and her friends make it to New York. They decide to split up into groups and try to find their families if any are left. Laney is caught again, can she get free and free her friends without losing her soul? Can she help others get free from the government? David shows up agin in this book too, has he changed or is he still out to kill Laney? There is so much in this book happening that you can't out it down. There was only one area at the end I wish would have gone into more detail. Can't wait to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book for my honest review

Just when you think Laney and her friends have faced all they can they must overcome more obstacles to survive. This really makes you think what things would be like if a major event wiped out food supply, electricity, transportation.....what would you have to do to survive. Nice ending to the series! Can't wait to see what Holly writes next!

This was a great ending to a great story. It was action packed and thrilling to the very end. I would recommend this series to everyone who likes a survival story. The only thing that was lacking is more story to see how things turn out after all the action.

A great final book in the trilogy, The Freeze wraps everything up so nicely. There were still a question or 2 I had left unanswered but overall everything ended up great!

This was an interesting book, and I was both excited and nervous to read the last book in the series. There were some things in the book that bothered me, and I do wish certain things had went different ways. All in all, not my favorite, but not the worst, and an interesting conclusion to the series. I was gifted a copy.

I absolutely adored this book!!! This series is so brilliant and extremely addictive, this author is so talented and I love her work, the more I read of her work the bigger a fan become!!!

This is the third book in the series and I loved this storyline, so very imaginative and full of so much action and adventure that you really are kept on your toes the whole way through. This story starts where the last one finished so readers definitely need to read the first two books to understand what is happening in this book. The author writes in such a way that draws you into the world that she has created, this is down to the setting of the book with the descriptions of the world and the characters within it. The storyline definitely makes this a must read that you will find yourself obsessively turning the pages to find out what Secrets the next chapter holds!!!

You do meet new characters in this book as well as new ones. In this book you just learn more and more about the characters, following their lives and seeing into them, seeing who they really are and what their motivations are.

I adored this book that really deserves my 5* rating and I can't recommend this book highly enough!!!
