Andrea Merchak has been passionate about the horror genre since she was 4–5 years old and snuck out of her bedroom to see the horror films her father watched. An avid reader, as a teenager she read a book by Stephen King and got hooked into the Universe of Horror. Despite her background as a journalist, she never imagined that one day she would become an author. She thought, and still thinks, that authors are singularly gifted people who are able to take their readers to extraordinary, exotic worlds beyond imagination. Because she thought she could never join their ranks, she was reluctant when her sister suggested she should write a book – and surprised when she found out she could do it just as well as some of her favorite authors. Long story short, today Andrea wonders why it took her so long to realize her true calling. Her stories are pure, graphic, vicious horror that stays with the reader long after they finish reading.
A good beginning that delves into the origin of a serial killer. Well written and fast paced, the author expends zero energy on useless dialog. moving quickly from moment to moment. The characters are well developed and rounded out, giving them some depths and realism. Bloody Origin is the prequel to the Bloody series and it does an excellent job of leading the reader with intrigue into the series.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
Bloody Origin is exactly what it says, gory and intense. When reading about how a serial killer is born, it definitely delivers. Some parts I couldn’t stomach, but yet I also couldn’t stop reading. I give it 4 stars!
Bloody Origin is exactly what is promised. It's dark and dirty and a short look at how Daniel started his career. His background certainly makes a few things clear, though I would have liked it if things where fleshed out a little more. I can only guess that those early feelings of entitlement and his narcissism will have grown in the main series, leading to ever more gory and grotesque scenes. The boy does like guts. *chuckle*
The author is from Brazil, and it shows in some of the mistakes in grammar & word choice. I found it readable nonetheless, and engaging enough to make me stick with it. [EDIT: The book has been re-edited and it's flawless.]
