As I've come to expect from Kylie, this book was extremely well-written, SMOKING HOT and sprinkled with laugh-out-loud moments . The characters were realistic and acted and spoke accordingly. I started this book and the next time I looked up it was four hours later and I hadn't even noticed! I was completely engrossed in the story.
Now normally I'm not a fan of children in romances. Sometimes they aren't written well and subtract rather than add to the story. THIS child, however, was absolutely adorably hilarious and very well done.
Another aspect I usually don't like reading about is the deceased significant other. But again, Kylie brilliantly used this dark spot to create a brightness that gave me n excellent sense of closure.
Overall, I REALLY really really liked this story. I felt it was very well-rounded and, in my opinion, the best of the series so far.
As a side note, similar to the other books in this series, Hailey and Josh continue to have their battle of wills. I am DYING to read their story, and Kylie does an excellent job of stringing me along with hot looks from Josh that hold the promise to rock Hailey's world. Can't Wait!!!
(I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)
Heartwarming, Funny, Sweet, Sexy and Overall beautifully written romantic journey of a single dad looking to raise one amazing little girl and finding he might not need to struggle alone.
Lauren Bishop is a school teacher off for the summer and working as a nanny seems the perfect fit for her summer plan to find her forever love. (she even signed up for help in that area) Alex Campbell is a sexy hot alpha male that lost one love already and is so not looking to open himself to that risk of heartbreak again. His only love is his adorable two year old daughter that he lives for and is looking for a helping hand. This love story is full of heart and laughter not to mention strong family bounds.
In a nutshell, this is my new favorite Kylie Gilmore book. And after reading every single thing this author has out, that's saying a lot, because she has stolen my heart with every book. But this one... Where do I begin? Well, first off, any book that has an eventual step-parent always steals a piece of my heart. As a child who had a step-father come into my life and has helped me become the person I am today, I am always drawn to a single parent story with a happily ever after.
On top of the usual humor readers find in a Kylie Gilmore story, there's also some tear-worthy moments and some internal struggles with characters (especially Alex) that drew me in.
Alex is a struggling single father. We've caught glimpses of his character in previous stories in this series, but now we get more insight into him. This man breaks my heart sometimes- well, not him in general, but his struggles do. He's trying to take it all on, because he lives with guilt. Every single day, he makes the best of it and he's an amazing father to Viv.
And Viv....what a sweet kid! She plays such a role in this book and the interactions are absolutely beautiful.
In comes Lauren to save the day. How little she knows this summer will change her life. I love the bond between Lauren and Viv, and then Alex. These three are perfect together. I love how awkward Alex makes a few scenes. He's trying, oh does he try, but there are a few times he's just not getting it quite right.
I could go on, really I could, but instead of reading my gushing over and over again about this book, I suggest picking up a copy of your own. It can be read as a stand alone no problem, but it's another fantastic addition to the Happy Endings Book Club. Bring on the next one, please!
It's the nanny & single father trope, but with a touch of sadness. Couldn't fully grasp the arc of the characters and suddenly they changed to be the ideal family by the end.
There was some repetitiveness throughout the book that was frustrating and I wasn't entirely convinced by journey to the HEA. I also felt like Lauren was always too quick to forgive Alex and I wanted more from the black moment. Overall though, I loved all the scenes with Viv and seeing Alex and Lauren navigate their relationships with her as their relationship developed. I'm not entirely sure about the inclusion of all the secondary characters; it was a bit much at times.
Heart, humour and a two year old sweetheart in this single dad / nanny romance that is both sweet and sexy!
Formal Arrangement has hands down just become my favourite book in the Happy Endings Book Club series so far! I adore single parent romances and Kylie Gilmore really knocked this one out the park with this adorable and sexy read! Heart, humour and a two year old sweetheart in this single dad / nanny theme (or as Carrie says ‘the forbidden romance!’) will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart and is the perfect book to escape in for a few hours.
Told from dual perspective, Alex and Lauren have a chemistry that simmers just below the surface as they navigate the slippery slope that is boss and nanny with some deeply moving emotional scenes. Alex is a single father struggling with the realities of raising a child alone, along with a guilt that is holding him back from moving on. His relationship with Viv though will melt your heart, especially the dance scene! Lauren, a quiet school teacher on summer break, is determined to find her Mr Right, with a little help from the town’s matchmaker Hailey. However, with an adorable Viv (Alex’s daughter) bringing the two closer together, it’s only a matter of time until this sexy couple find sparks start flying!
Set against the familiar beautiful setting, for fans of this sweet small town contemporary romance series, we get to catch up with a few familiar faces but if you are new to the series, be reassured this can be read as a standalone, no problem.
I highly recommend this book, especially if you love a single parent / nanny romance! *I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

This story is one of my favorites in this series. It stars Alex who is the single dad and Lauren, one Maddie’s friends from the book club. She the school teacher.
First I want to mention that from reading other books I saw Alex one way and that was more of a nerd type of single dad. It came from the fact that he designs websites and spends a lot of time on his computer and is a single dad. But I had it all wrong. Think pierced, edgy artist type and that is Alex before his daughter was born. So he is the hot single dad with an edge. Very different than I imagined but also hotter than I imagined.
The major part of this story and Alex’s story is that he feels guilt about the mother of his child dying. She was an edgy artist too and they were not in love. But when she got pregnant he talked her into staying and so when she dies delivering his daughter he has enormous guilt. And that played lot into this story and why Alex has tried to be the best dad out there and sorta reformed from edgy artist.
This is the story of him suffering through sleepless nights and teething pain and how Josh, his brother saves him. Josh finds Lauren and with no school during the summer Lauren decides to work for Alex and help him.
This is there story and anything else I say might give this unique spin on a single dad romance away. I will say I have not been Alex’s dads fan until now. What a guy. He really was an enormous help to Alex and even Lauren and he stole all the scenes he was in.
This was definitely light reading nd I really enjoyed the story. We get another chapter in the Hayley and Josh romance and I cannot wait for their book.
Single father Alex Campbell is done with love. He was in love with Tammy for years & or hadn't done her any good. After he got her pregnant & insisted that she have the baby, she died. If he wasn't so selfish to insist on her having Viv, maybe she'd still be alive. But then he wouldn't have Viv! Guilt makes him depressed & wallowing in sadness.
"Alex fell into a dark place of self-recrimination. He'd actually thought of Viv as a demon. She wasn't. She was his little sunshine. The light in his dark life. Guilt over Tammy's death burned in his gut like it always did when he felt overwhelmed as a single parent."
"All of it, his fault."
Lauren Bishop is a single school teacher off for summer break. She's dedicated this summer to finding her significant other. Her friend Hailey has talked her into signing up for her matchmaking business Make Love Bloom. Of course, right now Lauren is the only client so she's more of a guinea pig.
"Alex is one of the few men she'd felt an instant spark with every time she saw him. And by spark she meant raging lust."
"She hadn't told anyone of her secret lust because she was looking for a relationship and he clearly wasn't."
I loved this story. Alex tries to diminish his feelings for Lauren by focusing on sex & capability with his daughter Viv. Lauren is blinded by the feeling he only wants someone for Viv & can't see he's fighting the same attraction she is. Viv steals the show by being sweet, cantankerous & loving. The characters are realistic & believable. With every addition to the series, the picture of the group of friends becomes clearer as do the relationships. The interactions between Hailey & Josh continue to build the tension between them. I can't wait for the next one!
I give Formal Arrangement by Kylie Gilmore 5 Stars. This is book four of the Happy Ending Book Club series. You can read this as a standalone novel but if you want the back story of all the characters in the book you should start with book #1. Plus you will love every book in this series, not only are they all well written but you will be laughing through out the books.
Lauren Bishop has decided to plan her summer out and one of the main things she wants to do is meet Mr. Right. She figures the best way to meet Mr. Right is by signing up "Make Love Bloom" services which guaranteed she would find the one by the end of the summer. Beside finding Mr. Right she has decided to help out Alex Campbell by being his Nanny for the summer. She realizes that her plans are starting to derail because she finds herself drawn to her employer who is emotionally unavailable.
Alex is in desperate need of help when his two-year-old’s daughter starts to cut her molars and turn in to a miserable little girl instead of his little sunshine. Thank god Lauren is dropped into their life and has agreed to help Alex out so that he can get rest and some work done. Alex refuses to have any sort of relationships, which explains why he never says yes to a date, but he can’t afford to lose this nanny. Alex wants to convince Lauren to stay on as the Nanny but can he talk her into this without committing to something? You will have to read to find out what happens between these too.
This is another great addition to the Happy Endings Book Club series! It is the story of single father, Alex Campbell and teacher, Lauren Bishop. We have met both of these characters in previous books in this series and I was looking forward to their story because I loved Lauren. I wasn’t sure how Alex was going to play out because I thought he might be kinda nerdy since he was a website designer and graphic artist, but he was full of alpha surprises!
Alex is a single father to a two year old, Viv who is a bit of a handful while she is teething and Alex is at the end of his rope. He needs serious help and Lauren is off school for summer break and she is a bit of a ‘toddler whisperer’ and has had an eye on Alex for a while. She offers to help out with Viv and is a miracle worker, so Alex hires her to help over the summer. This is a great story of the two of them finding their way to each other. Alex has much to overcome since he lost Viv’s mother in childbirth and doesn’t really believe in forever anymore. Lauren is the consummate romantic and is looking for a forever type of love so the two of them have quite a bit of land to cover if they can find forever. They are HAWT together and their story is sweet, plus add in little Viv and Alex’s dad pulling for them and it is a story you definitely don’t want to miss!
One of the other pluses, in my opinion, is having the ability to visit with the rest of the crew and see what everyone is up to, especially Hailey and Josh! Absolutely love these two! Don’t miss this one!
Kylie Gilmore never ceases to amaze me and capture my attention with her quirky writing style. She touches on very real subjects, injecting romance and humor. Alex is a single Dad whose guilt has caused him to swear off relationships and put his entire focus on providing for and raising his 2 year old daughter Viv. His reason for being, his little angel....his demon. Did he really refer to his sweet girl as a demon? Unfortunately poor Viv is having trouble with her 2 year old molars...causing Alex to be sleep deprived and unable to focus on work. He needs help...and quickly. Unfortunately, he has made his way through numerous Nannies, so his brother decides to help find another one. Enter Lauren, a school teacher on summer break who has decided to let her friend Hailey help find her Mr. Right through her fledgling Make Love Bloom matchmaking service (Lauren is her only client and her guinea pig). Lauren decides to help single Dad Alex with his sweet girl for the summer while looking for her mate. As the two grow closer, they need to work through the issues keeping them apart. Will they be able to turn their Formal Arrangement into a Forever After arrangement? Find out by reading this exceptional 4th installment of the Happy Endings Book Club series.
Heartwarming loving and fun this is how I will definitely described this book. This is a story about hot sexy artist single dad Alex Campbell to Viv a high energy two-year-old who's having a bad time with her molars and needs help. This is where Lauren a second grade teacher over hears Josh Alex's brother that Alex needs a nanny and volunteers. Lauren has always felt a spark when ever Alex was around and she did love Viv already so why not it's just for the summer. We find out that Alex and Viv are extremely close but Lauren fits right in, Alex has a bit of a hard time letting go of Viv but that soon happens. Then we start to see the chemistry between Alex and Lauren but can they both get what there looking for? Can Alex let go of the past that still haunts him? Will Lauren find her Mr Right? Let's not forget the wonderful Viv. I loved this story it goes with the rest of The Happy Endings Book Club Series, I loved this single dad story from Kylie Gilmore in this story she had me laughing out loud had my eyes misting up at times and picturing a two-year-old Viv in my head. Can't wait for more.
I have been waiting on pins and needles for Alex and Lauren’s story. Alex is a single dad who tragically lost his fiancee when she was giving birth to their daughter, Viv. Lauren is a nice girl-next-door who is a part of the Happy Endings Book Club. She is a second grade teacher who has made it her mission to help Alex and Viv and to find her forever love during her summer break.
Alex is struggling with two year old Viv and her new molars. He is having trouble balancing his teething toddler, his work schedule and getting some sleep. Josh, his brother, insists that he get a nanny. Alex having been down this road before (twelve times to be exact) isn’t so sure that this is his solution.
Lauren is as sweet as they come. After overhearing Josh say that his brother Alex, her crush, was looking for a nanny, she volunteered her services. She knew she was the best person to help Alex.
As they spend more time together, Alex starts seeing Lauren through different eyes. His life has always been about Viv. What she needed and wanted. But when Lauren steps in to help shoulder the responsibility and fits so well with their little family and his heart. How long will he be able to resist?
This single dad romance is a great read. Their journey to becoming a family is filled with heart and moments that will pull at your heartstrings.
5.0 out of 5 stars Just a perfect right kind of love is all anyone needs., June 6, 2017 By Lila Ford Edit Review Delete Review
This review is from: Formal Arrangement (Happy Endings Book Club, Book 4) (Kindle Edition) Formal Arrangement is a very written story about a single father who needs help with his little girl when she is having problems with her molars. Alex Campbell is a very good father but he just hasn't figured out how to help his little girl. When's brother sets up an interview for a friend of the family to help Alex he doesn't realize what a God send she really is. Lauren Bishop is a school teacher who is on summer break and wanting to keep busy has agreed to help Alex and his little girl Viv out for the summer. Alex is so charming, good looking and Lauren is trying to find her self Mr. Right but she tells him that she has no interest in him. just when you think you know how this story will go there are twist and turns and Kylie Gilmore once again keeps you on your town with this series. Loved Alex and Lauren's story. Don't miss out and another Happy Endings Book Club Romance Story. Just the right kind of love is all anyone needs.
I truly enjoyed reading Formal Arrangement by Kylie Gilmore. This is another amazing story, the fourth, in her the Happy Endings Book Club series. Elementary school teacher Lauren Bishop agreed to help Alex Campbell with his two year old daughter, Viv, during her summer break. Alex worked from home but as Viv was cutting her two year old molars he could not work, sleep, or calm her down. Lauren had the magic touch, calming Viv and keeping her active like a two year old should. The only problem was Lauren’s attraction to Alex which she refused to act on and Alex’s attraction to Lauren. Alex does not do relationships and uses the guilt he feels for causing the death of Viv’s mother to justify it. Alex can’t afford to lose Lauren as his nanny and needs to convince her to stay, but can he?
This story showed another side to the world of singular parenting and that sometimes it’s okay to admit that you need a little help from your friends. I really enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Gilmore wove a wonderful tale and I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Kylie Gilmore just blows you away with her book but this one by far is the best. When you have a sexy man like Alex and a child that he is raising on his on who can resist right. When Vivian's two year old molars come in Alex needs help. Josh his older brother gets him a babysitter. The sweet loving Lauren. Everything is great Lauren is going to be a nanny and help Hailey business by let her match her up with a great man. Until Lauren falls for Alex. Not that she already did not she loved Viv and Mad, Alex's daughter and littler sister but she want it all the happy ever after. Alex lost Viv's mom during her birth and has never moved on. Is it the right time for him to let go. Will Lauren be the one to win his heart or is he to shut off?
This is a must read. It had me laughing and crying. And OMG that 2 year old kid will just get to you. I will say I love books with kids in them and this was a fantastic one. I will say Josh and Hailey helps make all these books too.
Formal Arrangement (Happy Endings Book Club) by Kylie Gilmore
The Campbells are a rambunctious clan. Good times, fiery personalities and tons of love are what the Campbells are all about, but beneath all the fun lies some turbulent emotions that need to be worked through. Formal Arrangement is Alex's turn to shine. This single dad has a little girl he adores, a family he loves and guilt that never seems to subside. From a tragic loss to the responsibilities that weigh him down, Alex just can't catch a break. Enter Lauren, nanny extraordinaire. Lauren lightens up his days and fills his heart with an emotion he refuses to acknowledge. Can he let go of the pain of his past to claim his Ms. Right? It's always a pleasure to read Kylie Gilmore. With sweet stories that are as moving as the characters are irresistible, it's obvious why she makes up at least half of my favorites list.
There's nothing sexier than a single dad with a darling two year old daughter and although Alex has made Viv his number one priority he's still dealing with his grief over the death of Viv's mother in childbirth. After hiring and firing a boatload of caretakers for his precocious daughter Viv, he finds grade school teacher Lauren, who quickly becomes the most important person in both of their lives. The star of this book is definitely darling little Viv whose bubbling personality and adorable antics made me laugh out loud and witnessing the loving attention both Alex and Lauren shower upon Viv made my gooey heart melt. But never fear, this author always includes plenty of smoldering sexual attraction between her characters that will raise your heart rate and soon you'll be falling in love with this little family of 3. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
I just can't even with Kylie's books. Every single one draws me right in I forget where I am, and lose track of time. How the hell does she do that?! Anyway, enough fangirling, back to the book... I was completely captivated with Alex. He was such a great father to his daughter, and my heart ached for all the guilt he harboured over Viv's mother's death. But then came along his saviour in the form of school teacher, Lauren. She didn't want to fall for Alex, he was completley off limits; he'd said so himself, but how can you stop yourself falling for somebody who is perfect for you? As usual, the book club ladies get u to their regualr antics, and Hailey and Josh STILL at loggerheads. Each book gets us closer to finding out what is going on with these two, and the journey there is more than worth the wait. Can't wait until the next book in the series!
Oh, this is by far my favorite story in Ms Gilmore’s series, Happy Endings Book Club. Who doesn’t love a single Dad whose fiance had a tragic death, a two year old that is going through the terrible twos, and a sweet second grade teacher, who is looking for Mr Right in a matchmaking service, and sees working as a nanny , the perfect way to spend her Summer break . Little did Lauren and Alex know that life as they knew it would change. Will Lauren find her Mr Right, will Alex be willing to open his heart, and will they have their “happy ending” after all? This one will touch your hearts. At times you will want to give them all a hug, at others you want to tell them to move forward, but in the end , you too will have your happy ending. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Lauren, a teacher, signs an agreement with Alex, an artist, to care for his two-year-old daughter during summer break, Viv—the arrangement between one hottie and another hottie. It could only end in a "Happy Endings Book Club" conclusion, as all the stories in this eleven-book series.
If you love HALLMARK movies, this is right up your alley: no significant twists and turns. Lauren wants what Alex has, and vice versa.
There is some hot sex, and it is preordained that marriage is in the cards. Viv is the linchpin - she loves Lauren, her second mommy.
The story is well-written, with some girlie-funny conversations. However, I will not buy another book in the series, but if you are a romantic and like happy-ending stories, start with book 1.
Alex is going through a really rough time with his 2 year old daughter as she cuts her molars. Neither are getting much sleep. But Alex had made himself and Viv a promise that he would do anything for her, that she was the most important person in his life, and the only female he would ever love. The guilt he feels from losing Viv's mom has kept his emotions locked down. But he needs help and he needs it yesterday. When his brother sets him up an interview for a nanny with their sister's friend Lauren she appears to good too be true.
As a 2nd grade teacher Lauren is off for the summer. A suggestion from a friend has her applying for a nanny position she can't refuse. She absolutely loves kids and Viv is one of the sweetest. At least she is when she isn't cutting molars. Lauren had met Alex a few months back at a wedding and was thoroughly enamored with his daughter Viv. Of course, Alex wasn't too bad either. But unfortunately he is still grieving the loss of Viv's mother.
Lauren is also single and free and looking for love and now her friend Hailey, the local matchmaker and town wedding planner, has decided to make Lauren her next project. Sadly, things aren't going so well. At least not with Hailey's men.
Back at Alex's house things are steaming up. Lauren knows there is some mutual attraction and it isn't long before things heat up. However, Lauren quickly realizes Alex is not in the same place she is. Will she be strong enough to do what is right for her?
Sweet contemporary love story with incredible characters and wonderfully written story line. A favorite author of mine, Kylie Gilmore continues to impress!
Lauren is a school teacher who is willing to give up her summer to be a nanny for Alex. Alex is dealing with his lovable two year and trying to figure out the whole single parent scene. Lauren is willing to help Viv be all the toddler she can be but also helps Alex discovered what he needs to move on from the death of his fiancée. He is also willing to help her reenact her favourite scenes from her favourite book. When everything is spelled out in an agreement is there room for change?
This story is a bit of a tear jerker. But also how we can love another person and help them over come the trails in their lives. You never know what Viv is going to get up too or where there will be an impromptu dance party. Got your dancing shoes?
In Formal Arrangement, Lauren Bishop is ready to find love and has enlisted her friend Hailey's new Make Love Book (TM) service to find it. Meanwhile, she accepts a summer nanny position for Alex Campbell and his 2 year old daughter, Viv.
Alex is too busy being a single Dad to date. He's resigned himself to raising his daughter, but when her 2 year molars come in, he admits that he needs help. When he hires Lauren for the summer, he realizes that not only is she great for Viv, but he's falling for her as well.
Formal Arrangement, by Kylie Gilmore, is a fun, feel-good romance and another great addition to the Happy Endings Book Club.
This was a really good book! I liked how Lauren was trying to find Mr. Right when she takes a nanny job for the summer. Alex isn't looking for anything permanent just someone to watch his little girl. When Alex learns that Lauren is looking for a guy he starts to worry about what kind of a guy she will find. Alex and his dad tell her bad things about his brothers to keep her away. Alex and her friends are funny together! Alex realizes a few things about Viv's mom and is able to move on with his life. Viv is a spirited little girl and keeps everyone on their toes. This book really held my attention and I had a hard time putting it down.
Lauren is ready to settle down with Mr Right and plans to spend the summer finding him. Alex is desperate for help with his rambunctious, two-year-old daughter. He works from home, but with two year molars coming in, it is nothing but no work and no sleep. Lauren sees beneath people's exterior, knows Alex is deeply hurting, and wants to help him in any way. Alex wants a nanny and nothing more, but Lauren makes him want things he never has before. I loved Alex. He has grown so much and he still has a way to go. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
A fantastic read. It's sweet, funny, heartwarming and sexy story. It will have you feeling all sorts of emotions. It will pull you in from the beginning. It's well written with characters you will love. Can't help falling in love with the adorable Viv. The chemistry between Lauren and Alex is sizzling and hot. I enjoyed reading more on some of our beloved characters. This book is a great addition to the Happy Endings Book Club series. It's definitely not to be missed. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
What I like best about this book is the real angst I felt for the overwhelmed single dad with his high energy toddler daughter. Yeah, he needs a nanny who’s gonna stick around, and now that he’s found one, no way is he not going to fall for her. Even though she’s not his type—too sweet, too nice, to handle his “edge” in the bedroom. Of course appearances can be deceiving. Another fun read in the Happy Ending Book Club series.
Kylie Gilmore writes books that make me feel good. I love all the interactions between the women in the Happy Endings Book Club. We could all use friends like them! Alex is a single dad to Viv and Lauren is a sweet school teacher. When Alex is in a bind, Lauren steps in to help. Little does she know how much her life will change! I loved watching Alex open up and fall in love again. Lauren and Alex were so amazing together. Viv really stole the show for me though! I adore her!
