Cleo finally has the freedom that she’s always craved, but it’s come at a terrible price—the Program wants to terminate the Deviant Dozen and now she and her friends are on the run. To make matters worse, she’s finally learned to use her deviation—except when she’s around Ozzy. Even an innocent touch or kiss can cause her skills to spiral out of control. He’s the last person she’d ever want to hurt, but he’s also the one in the most danger if she can’t learn to master her skills and emotions.
Ozzy’s duty has always been to protect the Dozen, but now he must make the difficult choice between laying low to stay safe or starting an all-out war so that the Dozen can truly be free. He knows that if they have any chance of outsmarting the Program, they’ll have to look for help in unlikely places—even if that means trusting their enemies.
Rune and the Others have always been anonymous, hiding in the shadows as they carried out acts of terror and revenge. That all changed the moment the Program discovered they existed. To survive, Rune and the Others will be forced to make an alliance that is just as likely to kill them as it is to save them.
Program officials are determined to erase their mistakes, but when they terrorize innocent civilians and Sophisticates in an effort to flush out the Dozen, they discover a harsh truth—the weapons they created are fighting back.
The first thing Christine does when she's getting ready to read a book is to crack the spine in at least five places. She wholeheartedly believes there is no place as comfy as the pages of a well-worn book. She's addicted to buying books, reading books, and writing books. She even turned her dining room into a library—reading is more important than eating. She also has a weakness for adventure and inappropriate humor. Christine is from Forest Hill, Maryland where she lives with her husband, three kids, and her library of ugly spine books.
With The Sophisticates trilogy over, I can now say that I am a full-fledged dystopian fan. All credit to Manzari, as these were the first dystopian books I read, but they won't be the last. Christine is able to create a world that is realistic in some ways and completely imaginative and unique in others. This last book in the series is my favorite. First, we have a kick-ass heroine who maintains a strong but sensitive persona throughout. Second, we have nail-biting action and drama. Third, the love. Above all else, I loved the love story between Cleo and Ozzy. This story had the most satisfying ending, even giving me a little hope for a future spin-off. Manzari is a fantastic writer and I encourage everyone looking for a great new read to give this trilogy a chance. You will love it!
I waited so long for the ending in this series and it didn't disappoint. This book surprised me because it want just wrapping up loose ends but it was a great book on its own with plot twists that still surprised me. Manzari hit another homerun with this one.
As a reader, one of the most challenging aspects of the industry is anxiously awaiting the next installment in a series that is near and dear to your heart. With new novels hitting the shelves each day, as time goes on it gets easier, but your bookish mind is always ready for what your favorite authors have up their sleeves next. In the fall of 2014, I discovered a new-to-me young adult paranormal/dystopian series that truly blew me away. It was so far off the reach from my 'norm' that I still don't know exactly what prompted me to take the plunge, but I am so ridiculously glad I did. A new-to-me author and a new series were exactly what the doctor ordered. Deviation was fresh, original, and shook my world in the best of ways. Immediately after, I devoured Conviction and was yet again blown away. But that wasn't it. Manzari had one last story up her sleeve. The finale to end all finales, but I had to wait A YEAR to get my hands on it!
Was Redemption worth the wait? Could it possibly live up to its' predecessors?
HELL YES. And then some.
Oh man readers, I don't hardly know where to start. If you guys have read my reviews of the first two novels in this series, you'll know how much I absolutely loved each and every word in them. Manzari left us with a huge cliffhanger headed into the series finale that had me bouncing with excitement. Could this entire story come full story and end with one final round?
Of all the incredible things I'll say about this one, I will say that, in my opinion, the very best part was that Manzari was able to wrap up the entire story to perfection. All loose ends were tied and the reader was left with a very satisfying conclusion to a mind-blowing series. With a plot a complex as The Sophisticates, I will admit that I had my doubts.
The plot for this one was extremely fast paced and Manzari took little time to rehash the past events of the previous installments. I highly suggest brushing up on the first two novels before diving into this one, because if you're anything like me, it's been awhile and you'd forgotten a lot. Once I was able to wrap my mind around the story and full immerse myself back into Manzari's world, I couldn't set this one down. I don't know the last time I devoured a story like Redemption. This should go without being said, but I will absolutely say that this is not a series you will be able to pick up on book three and understand what is happening, you must read books one and two before starting this one.
As a huge fan of Manzari's for quite some time now (and having read all of her published works), I was thoroughly impressed with the evolution of her writing style as evident in this latest release. From young adult to new adult romance, Manzari has recently branched out of her comfort zone and really knocked the ball out of the park (her New Adult Romance, Hooked, remains one of my all-time favorites in the genre). An incredible testament to her talent, Manzari completely astounded me with the final product of Redemption. The plot, character development, and intriguing settings made for one novel I was genuinely thrilled to have devoured.
The only real downside about this series is the huge cast that it features. I'm talking 40+ very important/supporting characters at all times. I won't lie, it's confusing. Names are thrown around so constantly that as a reader you have to take your time to get 'into' the world to know who is who and why they are important. After you can finally get that down, it makes a whole lot more sense. As a fan who had been away from the series for over a year, I found myself consulting the cast list (included in the front of the novel) several times. You know you've got a legit story on your hands when you need a cast list. Aside from the large cast of characters, it's refreshing to see that each character was truly written to perfection. The development throughout the series was truly a work of genius and a pleasure to read. Cleo, Ozzy, Rune, Queenie, and all the rest of the gang opened my eyes wider with each passing scene. I don't know that I've ever seen an author pour such complex emotions into so many YA characters in a series. I'm telling you folks, it's awesome!
As evident by the title of this novel, the entire storyline focuses on the overarching theme of 'redemption'. I won't lie, this one is an extremely deep read with some dark undertones that will leave the reader questioning their own beliefs and thoughts on redemption while struggling to keep their emotions in check with the plot twists and feels that Manzari throws their way. It's a beautiful tapestry the author weaves through her words. If you make it through this novel without reflecting on your own thoughts and beliefs, you've read it wrong friend.
With Redemption, the Sophisticates series is officially at a close. And to be honest, I'm okay with that. Manzari ended this series (one that's very close to my heart) on an incredible note. The ending was everything I was looking for and then some. Definitely not something I can say often enough.
As you guys can clearly see, with literary brilliance, Christine Manzari has wrapped up The Sophisticates series to perfection. I couldn't have been more pleased with the final result. It's been a genuine pleasure to consider myself one of this series' biggest fans and I absolutely cannot wait to share the love with an entire new group of readers. I absolutely highly recommend this series to all readers of YA, paranormal, dystopian, and sci-fi novels. You will not be disappointed. It should come as absolutely no surprise that I am granting Redemption a near-perfect 5-star review. Add this one to your TBR folks, it's a decision you won't soon regret. As for me, I won't mourn the finale to one of my all-time favorite series, I'll revel in the fact that I'm perfectly at peace knowing it received the sendoff it so desperately deserved. Kudos to you Manzari, you truly are a treasure to the genre. I absolutely cannot wait to see what you have in store next!
Ahhhh this book! I’m sad it’s over but I love how it was all tied up, particularly the very end. Don’t worry, no spoilers! There were twists & turns, quirky insults and one unfortunate Deviant - if you know, you know. Christine’s trilogy was an amazing choice to start 2021 with.

Where to start?!?! This is an amazing conclusion to the series, yet I am sad to say that it is over! I want more of the Deviant Dozen and the Others! I want to know how they are after this book ends! I feel like I am losing some of my friends with the end of this series....
Author Christine Manzari takes the readers straight into the pages of her books and never lets them out! They become a part of the book and the reader doesn't want to leave the world that she creates. She is amazing with the details, the descriptions and the feelings. The reader can instantly feel the love, anger, drama and angst that the characters go through in the book. They can relate to the world that the author has created and at times they almost wish that the story could be never ending. The characters, plot and story line stay with the readers long after they have finished reading the book. The reader continues to write more of the story for themselves (even though it could never compare to the author's) and the reader becomes involved in the everyday lives of the characters in this story.
This book was a roller coaster of emotions for the characters and the readers and there were some things that I had to stop and re-read to make sure that it was really what happened. Characters that you love and trust will change, some will surprise you and most of all the ending of the book will inspire you. The author had me yelling, screaming, cursing and at times almost crying over the story and she has made my favorite characters change a dozen times throughout the story. Just when you think that you know what is going to happen next, she changes it and you can barely keep up. This is a book that the reader will be reading more than once because they zoomed through it so quickly the first time that they have to go back to check the details out again. As a reader I couldn't help but turn the pages at a breakneck pace to see what was going to happen next, but at the same time I know that I have to re-read it to make sure that I didn't miss anything!
Do yourself a favor and add this one and the previous 2 in the series to your TBR list and make sure you read them soon!! This is a Can't Miss, Gonna Be a Favorite, Must Read for any and all readers! I know that it is on my top ten list of favorite books series for this year! Enjoy and set aside plenty of time to read it as you won't want to stop once you enter this world!
I have a confession. I'm not a big dystopian fan. I know. I know. Horrible. I'm just not. I think it's because I'm an old lady now and my brain is no longer hard-wired for that level of thought. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast in THIS world, let alone try to remember the intricacies of an entirely new culture.
But Manzari is the exception to my rule. When I was first introduced to Ozzy...um, I mean Manzari...I was on a "kick" to try new genre's. Romance and mystery had always been my go-to, but I wanted to try to expand on my narrow minded reading. I have to say Manzari did an excellent job holding my hand through the genre and easing me into it. By the end of her first book, I thought to myself, "I could actually like dystopian." By the end of the second book, I said, "I definitely like dystopian." By this last book, I cursed like a sailor that Manzari forced me to say goodbye to this dystopian world.
I fell in love with the Ozzy (hubba hubba) and Cleo (kick ass character arc), hated the villains, then fell in love with them. I had my mouth hanging open a few times when I turned to my husband and said, "How does Manzari come UP with this?" This story line has just about everything for everyone, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking to dip your feet into the waters of dystopian. Fan-freaking-tastic.
Cleo and the rest of the dozen are now on the run because the program has decided they are too dangerous. With the threat to their lives they must find allies to help them uncover the secrets the program never wanted to let out and find a way to hide or destroy them for good.
Cleo has become stronger as the books have continued and while she still has some insecurities she doesn't let that get in the way of doing what is right or protecting those she loves most.
There are plenty of twists and turns and just when you think you finally have it all figured out...BAM something happens to knock you off balance again!
We see as all the characters begin to find themselves and their place and what it is they want most out of their lives.
With plenty of danger and explosive action we see how it all turns out in this conclusion to the series!
I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this 3rd book in the series for a year. It was not disappointing!!!! I loved it! Manzari has a way of getting your attention and maintaining it throughout the entirety of the book! I love all of the characters and was so surprised at way things happened in this one! No spoilers here! Get all three and read them. I promise you won't be able to put them down.
Loved that ending! It made sense for each character and I loved the little extra mini story that showed Persephone!!! I'm so glad she didn't just die. Rarely do I end a book and feel so satisfied with the end! I also really loved how we saw the "after" of everything and didn't just end with the end of the battle.

Really sad to have finished the books. This is probably one of my favorite series, I absolutely loved the uniqueness of this book that allowed me to hint towards the ending but still get blindsided with plot twists. The character development (& downfall) throughout these books were so amazing and genuine, the ending really pulled everything together with no loose ends while hinting at other possibilities.
I really, really enjoyed this series. It's not what I usually go for but I had so much fun reading it.
I would also like to say that I deeply appreciated the character growth across all three books. In a series I find that sometimes the characters stall out in their development or that they move backwards but that didn't happen here and it made me really look forward to reading more.
Absolutely loved this series!! So full of action and drama. Great characters and story line. Love the ending. Better than I thought it would be. Couldn't put it down. A must read
This book took me so long to read. It just dragged on and on. Nothing really happened until halfway through the story. I absolutely loved the first book, but the rest of the series seemed a little dull. I'm a little disappointed.
Fun, packed with action and full of right or wrong evaluation, makes it totally easy to like villains. Perfect for distopia and EO loving teens. Right there with The darkest minds, but different.
After reading the first two books from this series I was sure that there was no way that the third book could outdo them. I was wrong, in fact I'm thrilled that I was.
This book was fantastic, it answered every question the first two books left me with. It was full of hardship and friendship and just plain butt kicking. This is the 3rd book in The Sophisticates series and it beautifully navigates the deviant dozens attempt at thwarting The Program. Secrets will be revealed, parents will be lost and found, friendships will be betrayed.
They receive information about each of them telling them who their donors were and the answers will definitely shock you! Will they find their families? Will the millions of questions they have be answered?
The dozen find sanctatity at a farm owned by someone close to one of the deviant dozen. This encounter brought all sorts of gushy feelings out of me when I read it. They are out in the middle of know where trying to lay low and then they are suddenly visited by the last people on earth that they want to see.
They say that the enemy of your enemy is your friend and that's exactly what happens in this book. Enemies become allies and the Program starts taking drastic measures trying to draw the deviant dozen out of hiding. Can the they all work together or is the past too heavy to forget? Who will snap first?
There is also that small detail of intimate settings with Ozzy make Cleo too hot to handle ;) Cleo goes through a lot to figure out why her blood boils every time she locks lips with Ozzy. She gets advice from the most unsuspected people.
The dozen lose some very good friends and make unexpected new ones, they are backstabbed by people they hold dear and even through all of that they stay strong until the end. In the end it leaves us with the fall of the Program and the rise of Legacy. The whole world is trying to get things back under control. The epilogue especially peaks my interest because it screams book four!
This is definetly one of my favorite series this year I can't tell you enough good things about it!
**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way effected my opinion, everything written above is my own thoughts.**
