They say that diamonds are formed from massive amounts of pressure and nothing could be further from the truth in the case of Diamond Smith. Her life included countless struggles of survival. Judging by her beginnings, she definitely resembled a lump of coal that was discarded much like yesterday's trash...
But her inner strength was beyond resilient. No matter what life sent her way, she refused to quit!!! She cried her way through those hard times; fought against all opposition both physically and mentally; and pushed toward her dreams...
But while she is now pressing toward her goals, she must now battle her biggest enemy... HERSELF!!!
Will she ever realize that no one can stop her but her? Will her past continue to hold her hostage? Will she ever be able to overcome the constant betrayals of her life? Will she ever be able to trust again? Will she ever be able to love again?
But the biggest question of them Will she shed her Rock Mentality and accept her newfound position as a Diamond?
This was a good read. I was extremely frustrated with Diamond's behavior in her latter years but the book seemed to end abruptly for me. I wanted more on what happened after she was locked up to drive me to want to read the sequel, if there is a sequel.
The grip this book had on me was fierce. One of the scenes took me back to childhood with the deep cleaning of the house when you good suspended from school. Yes Diamond was a bag of rocks yes she needed all the help she can get. Read this book it will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.
