She writes most of her BL and shotacon manga under the pen name "Ashika Sakura", and writes tame BL and mainstream stories under Sakurako Gokurakuin.
She is most known as the original creator of "Sensitive Pornograph" and "Sekirei", which are now both anime. She seems to be authoring mostly male-oriented work than yaoi these days.
When she presents herself in the afterwords of her comics, she tends to be very shy, embarassed and modest when she writes them, which some fans find humorous because her manga can get very sexual and outrageous.
Gokurakuin is a huge fan of singer, Akina Nakamori.
I'm not used to reading NSFW manga, and I almost gave up on finishing this book because some bits felt too lewd. But, I am glad I continued reading because the rest of the series (once there are battles and cool fight scenes) is worth it. If you're not sure about the series after having read the first volume, I'd say at least give the second one a shot.
The parental warning on the cover is probably because of the large number of semi-nude women in the book, a few of which are due to actual plot points. Overall, though, the book is a weird mix of harem comedy and SF combat story, as the "sekirei" are forced to fight by the weird techno-genius who found them on board what may have been a space ship. That part wasn't entirely clear, but neither was anything else in the story. The harem part comes from the fact that certain human beings are genetically suited to become masters for these sekirei. The problem is that you can become master to more than one, if you happen to run across them and you're suited for it. A second problem is that they're having a combat competition, and, you guessed it, there can be only one winner. Losers don't necessarily die, but they're supposed to be out of the running for the grand prize. Losing the combat also means that you have to leave your master, for reasons not yet clear. The main human character has failed his college entrance exams twice, but as it comes out, he's trying to get into a very difficult school, so he's not just a loser. The problem is that it takes a while for this to come out, within the story, so the reader gets the wrong idea at first. My reason for not giving this a fourth star is the weird humorous pandering to the audience. The sekirei keep getting undressed for the viewing pleasure of the readers. They take a lot of baths, or get their clothes ripped or torn in battle in weird ways, some of them not at all believable. One character even makes a joke about this being for the benefit of the readers, but in fact sometimes it gets in the way of the story. Also, for reasons as yet not clear, the sekirei have a wide range of apparent ages. One of the ones appearing in this story looks like a pre-pubescent child, while others are fully adult. The childlike one spends less time naked, which makes it a little less creepy. Still, I'm not sure if I will continue to read this series.
