Black River Pack #3

Bound by the Alpha

Rate this book
Alpha Rordan doesn't think he'll ever get his own Omega—who'd want a disabled Alpha, one who doesn't stand a chance of ever joining the Alpha Guard? No one cares that Rordan has the gift of foresight—they only care about athletic Alphas who can fight.

Omega Hunter desperately wants his own baby with an Alpha he loves. But he's already betrothed to someone with known for being rough with Omegas—and not in a good way. When Rordan meets Hunter, they form a special connection and agree they must find a way to be together.

When Rordan is inducted into the mysterious Council and Hunter's betrothed turns out to be worse than he'd imagined, the two find that the pack wars draw them farther apart. Just as the tide turns in favor of Black River, Rordan discovers a pitfall—but will anyone listen to him? And can the two end up together?

Bound by the Alpha is a m/m gay shifter mpreg novella with a HEA. No cheating, no cliffhangers. Each book in the Black River Pack series focuses on a different couple while expanding the overarching plot. They can be enjoyed alone, but it is recommended to read the series in order.

The story started out fine enough, right until the point when Hunter broke up with Samuel. And then everything went to smithereens. It was like fast forwarding a BDSM book. Sorely disappointed by the turn of events...

Bound to the Alpha is the third book in the Black River Pack series by Kellan Larkin. I loved this book. This book is about Rordan and Hunter. Rordan is an alpha with severe disabilities. He has to wear glasses, and a deformity makes him walk with a limp. However, he is also gifted with foresight which he considers a curse since it is vague at best. Hunter is an omega that works as a midwife and is actually Cory and Carrow's midwife from book two. Hunter is also part of an arranged marriage and is supposed to marry an alpha named Samuel. Hunter always gets a creepy vibe from him, and he has heard that he is a real player with the betas. Rordan because of his gift is being considered for a council position, and as they tour the hospital, Hunter and Rordan meet for the first time and think that they might be soul bound mates. Will they be able to overcome all of the obstacles in their way so that they can be together? I could tell you, but then you wouldn't need to read the book, and that would be a shame because it is definitely worth reading. Especially when it answered some of the questions that I had at the end of book two. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Best one yet

This was definitely my favorite book so far in the Black River Pack series! I loved that we got insight into how the Council operates with Rordan's invitation to join them. With as much information that they seem to collect on everyone in the pack, it's amazing how blind they all seem to be about the pack members themselves. And their insistance on using Rordan as their personal magic eight ball was definitely insulting, but I hope that we will be able to see that Rordan is able to bring real change to the Council.

Hunter was the perfect omega for Rordan to be paired with. He was kind and honest - open to seeing the alpha inside rather than just to judge based on the limitations of Rordan's body.

After reading this, I am beginning to wonder who actually started the pack wars.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

With each book in the Black River Pack series, I feel we get a bit more depth and complexity. Due to only seeing the pack from the point of view of the two main characters, you really only focus on the love aspect of the stories in this series.

With this book, we begin to gain insight into how the pack is run and more importantly the council. With this background knowledge, the series is beginning to become more complex. It is becoming something more than just an M/M romance novel.

I love the idea behind all the books in this series. I just wish there was more world building because these books have the potenetial to be so much more. They have the potential to be dark, urban fantasy full of grit and passion.

I have loved reading this series and watching the story unfold. This by far has been the best one yet.

Bound by the Alpha (bk3)
Kellan Larkin

An adventure of love and trust. When suppose to be bounded mates meet, they feel that special spark between them. But how do you get to be together when the council basically forbids it?

Hunter is a midwife for the Black River Pack. He is also a lonely Omega, who wants a Alpha mate to call his own. Only problem is he does have one, but he is not what Hunter wants. The alpha he is betrothed to, is a player and selfish which to him is not a good alpha. How will he ever get out of a pact made by his parents and approved by the Council? Then he meets a cute but handsome lamed Alpha...

Rordan is a Alpha male of the Black River pack. Born to Beta parents, he is an anomaly that usually doesn't happen. He has the gift if foresight, but is also lamed too. He can't see very good or run at all. He feels like a disappointment to everyone in the pack, including his parents. He gets passed over a lot for Omega mates. What Omega would want him? Will he ever find his happy ending?

I started really liking this series. The story lines were good. But the interaction with the other clans in the area is getting weird. Sounds like Black River is turning into the big guy bully now.
And the editing is getting worse.

Still a good story but just not up to par.

Reads more like a draft instead of a novel.

I love this series. The only issue I had with this one was the huge jump at the end and all of a sudden they were married. I would have liked a little build up to it.

ARC rec'd from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was the third in the series of the Black River Pack and the MCs are Rordan and Hunter. Hunter is an omega who has been promised since birth to Samuel that Hunter doesn't like nor trust. It is getting close to the time when their marriage will be sit up and Hunter is getting more anxious as the time goes on. Rodan is a crippled alpha, with not respect given to him. He has a crippled leg and has to wear classes. The one thing he has going for him is that he has the gift of foresight. The two meeting, Hunter is more determined to free himself from Samuel's clutches and Rordan is just as determined to have his "soul bond mate" too. Follow the two of them as they struggle with their issues and come together with their bond mate. This was an entertaining read. My only problem with it was there was more sex scenes than there needed to be. It was distracting, but not enough for be not to enjoy the story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

Love this Series

I have read all of your shifter series so far and can't wait for the next. Please hurry. If I have one complaint, it would be about the book's grammar. I realize that you don't do final proofreading, but the problem seems to be that no one else has either. Maybe it's just the process of uploading the book online, but it wouldn't be too hard for someone to proofread it before it's released. However, it is a very small, slightly annoying issue. It's like an annoying mosquito. Bottom line: read Kellan's books.

Repetitive and at points contradictory. It's disappointing because the disabled alpha approach had potential. I also kept anticipating something more would occur to keep the main characters from reaching their HEA so soon but was denied.

Good story

This is a good continuing story. Book Three though needs some better by editing. It doesn't distract too much from a smooth reading.
