I did things the other way round-I read this book first before I read the first two.
The way back to us wasn't my favourite second chance romance- I'm not saying that it was bad, I actually quite enjoyed it. But to tell you the truth, the entire time I was reading this book I had the greatest sense of pity for Gavin; his undying love for Dani even after all this time.
On a lighter note, this book was written beautifully, with just the right amount of angst and suspense. I liked Dani but for me, the star of the show was Gavin, his tenderness, love and dedication towards Dani was beautiful!
All in all, a wonderful second chance romance, if not a tad 'unfinished' (atleast for me). Maybe an epilogue would have sealed the deal for me because after that last chapter, it felt anti-climactic and unfinished for me. Sorry!

3.5 “Second chances” Stars

This is my fifth (?) book by Jamie Howard, and I'm ready for the next one, especially since I hope (please, please) it'll be about Ben and Rachel and all the angst of loving someone for years without moving it past friendship.
But while The Way Back to Us wasn't my favorite book by this go-to author, it was still entertaining.
Let me just pause for a second and say I'm still in love with Juliet, the heroine from the last book in this series. She kept pulling my attention toward her whenever she showed up in a scene in this new book, and she was consistent in how she kept seeing the good in people and giving them a chance. I also loved to see her get closer to her happy ever after with Felix. <3 font="">
Now, as to Dani and Gavin, the couple we get to focus on this time around, I wish I had connected more with their story. My main problem here wasn't Gavin. He was still as carefree and funny as I remembered him to be. Dani, on the other hand, took a little longer to warm up to.
I have to be fair and say I have a hard time connecting with the second chance romance trope. There's something about the characters already knowing each other and being in love and then breaking up for some reason or other than usually doesn't work for me. Though Dani's motive for running away and breaking Gavin's heart was strong, I guess not knowing the truth about it until much later in the story made it a little harder for me to understand and forgive her for what she did. Half the time I felt like Ben--ready to confront Dani about what she did and why she was back.
Maybe seeing her more reluctant about walking back into Gavin's life when she knew she'd have to leave again, or fighting the attraction between them harder or suffering a little more would've helped. I don't know. Maybe. I just didn't fall in love with Dani as hard and as fast as I wished.
Now, Gavin was another story. I felt sorry for the poor guy because he was so in love with Dani even after all those years. And even though she she had hurt him that bad, he was still willing to give her another chance because he didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to be with her. The whole Howgarts thing made sense because it was such a Gavin thing to think and say. Part of the reason I tried so hard to like Dani, despite her doing some things that made me cringe was because of how much Gavin loved her. That's how much I liked him.
I also LOVED, LOVED the beach house part of this book because I got to see all the characters from the series together. I loved the girls cooking, the girls and guys playing in the pool, the dinner conversation with them sharing secrets (I'm still in shock because I didn't remember the Gavin/Felix threesome thing. o.O). My absolute favorite parts of this book were when all the characters were together doing things. I want more of that.
So while The Way Back to Us didn't hook me the way the previous book in this series did, I still loved to read more about Gavin and get to see that great cast of characters interacting again. Also, there was a lot of Rachel and Ben, and do I need to say once again how excited about their love story I am?! In case I do, here's the perfect gif:

First time, I've started reading Jamie Howard's work was by chance, I was approved by NetGalley when I picked the first book in the Love Unpligged series, in fact I was surprised that I was approved in the first place...LOL
Anyway, what I love about Jamie Howard's writing is the easy flow, the effortless writing simply pulls you into the world of its, at first sight, simple but unique characters, and then you realize it's more complicated than that, they appear real and humany vulnerable and you can't help but want to be a part of their world, you want them to work out all the differencies, to sooth the pain and hurt and make it all better...and when the culminating resolution comes to light, you are pent up til then and then you just sigh and let go the agonizing angst following by a fulfillment of a happy ending.
The third book is no different, and it offers the same culminating relief just as the previous ones and I have enjoyed it very much.
Looking forward to the next one, whether it's a part of the series or a standalone.

A little bit of mystery and suspense to go hand and hand with this fantastic second chance romance by Jamie Howard. The Way Back To Us is an entertaining continuation of Love Unplugged series, but I will note that each book can be read as a standalone. These stories of love that Jamie produces are addicting and worthy! With each book, the characters and storylines become better and better.
Gavin’s heart has already been shaken and taken by Dani back in college. Even though she left him high and dry, vanishing with no word, his heart held a soft spot for the beauty. Now, apart of a Grammy-award winning band, he catches a glimpse of her again and memories, emotions wreck havoc on his heart. Can Gavin have his love back and can he prevent her from running again? What happens when he figures out her secrets?
You can’t help but love hard with Gavin. His love shines off the pages and even though Dani’s character was hard to get to know, to like or care for; his affection makes you yearn for them to reconnect. With their relationship, I only wished there was a prologue of when their love took off. To be able to have a glimpse of what it was like for them in college.
Overall, this third installment was a joy to read. Jamie has a talented hand at writing, bringing her characters, plots and descriptions to the utmost highest standards. I believe there is one more couple in the series that deserves a HEA and I can’t wait to read their romance when the time comes.

I am so crazy about this Love Unplugged series. Each book is perfectly addicting and gripping to read in its own right. They all technically work as standalones, but the return on investment is so much greater if you've been along for the ride since the beginning and - man, I am so glad I've been around since the beginning.
Gavin and Dani's story felt a little darker than the previous ones. There was much more suspense - more questions than answers for the vast majority of the story. That said, as far as second-chance romances go? This one was tops. I could feel the burn between Gavin and Dani, my heart ached for them and cheered for them and basically put itself in the middle of all the dips and valleys they encountered on their way to happily-ever-after. I loved them. I loved how they cared for each other and that almost urgent need to be together, even when it seemed impossible.
I also loved catching up with the other couples. Like I said, this book would be fine as a standalone, but the secondary storylines basically expand upon the previous books and they were incredibly rewarding to me. The friendships between this group of friends is a complete delight to read. And - there's at least one more story to tell here (I hope) and Ms. Howard has been dangling that carrot in front of us for a while now. I want to eat it up! I'm so hungry for it!
In all, another huge hit for me in this fantastic series. A little angsty, a little suspenseful - The Way Back to Us is a sexy, sweet and emotional read that is definitely not to be missed! ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

I’ve loved all the books of this series so far, and this was another great installment. The writing was great once again, and I really liked that it was told in dual POV, because the story is so clouded with mystery.
About the characters, I’ll admit that I liked Gavin way way more than I did Dani. But again, this was because her character is not very transparent. Yeah, she kicks ass, but I wanted just more from her. While Gavin was always in, and I loved his openness regarding his feelings and his intentions. I also cannot get enough of the relationships within that group. I love them.
I really liked the connection between Dani and Gavin, but I felt like I was missing something. They met and fell in love in the past, and while the chemistry was very much there, I still didn’t know HOW it happened, and it bugged me a bit. Because I felt like Dani kept so much of her under lock and key, and I wondered how her first relationship with Gavin worked, if there was always so much of her that was hidden from him.
That’s what I wish I gotten more of, the development of the romance and the feelings, because I felt like I was coming in in the middle of their story without much context.
I did like the overall plot, though I thought it was a bit expected. But it was well done, and I really enjoyed the resolution.

Having read the previous books of this series and loved those books I was really excited when I found out that I had an eARC for The Way Back to Us. I can tell you that this one didn't disappoint a bit. It's not my favorite book in the series but I still loved it a lot, especially because it's a second chance romance and who doesn't love second chance romances?? I know I do... A LOT.
Having read the past few books I already kind of knew Gavin but this book made me love him. He was such a great guy. He really cares about his family and friends and does anything he can for them. I didn't like Dani as much but mostly because she was a little bit closed off. Even if this book is partially told from her POV she still hides a lot of things and you only get to really know her halfway through the book. She was still a great girl and I loved how kickass she was. I did enjoy their relationship a lot even if I wanted to know more about their past and how they met.
However, and just as the previous books, one of my favorite things in this book is the band's dynamics and the friendships. I love how much those boys and girls support each other in the most difficult times and how they are not only friends but basically a family. Can I have Ben and Rachel's story now?? I really need to know what's happening between those two and I've been waiting way too long for that book.

4 stars — I had a bit of a harder time getting sucked into this one, but I can’t figure out if that had more to do with me and my frazzled mind, or the book… That’s always the kicker eh? Which, obviously if I still gave it 4 stars, does not mean the book wasn’t great! I just wish I had been more immersed in it.
After reading The Feeling of Forever, I was super excited for Gavin’s book. I had so many questions, and I really wanted to dive more deeply into him…I felt like we got hints of perhaps some drug abuse in that book, and other struggles. So it was kind of odd that we never really learned about any of that stuff. I mean, we know Gavin was heartbroken, but I guess I expected to see the change in him. If I’d not read TFOF, I definitely wouldn’t have noticed any of this though, so that is only a quirk when reading the series in order.
BUT! Gavin was amazing. Other than that little bit of missing depth, Gavin was everything I was hoping for and more. He was sweet, and hilarious, and quirky, and sexy as all get out. And he did break my heart, b/c he broke his own heart again and again, but yet was unable to stop himself from loving. I was totally expecting the same old resistance and denial, and was pleasantly surprised by Gavin’s openness. And it wasn’t just his love for Dani, which was inspiring… He also loved his family and his friends FIERCELY. And that is a beautiful quality to have, you know?
I loved Dani too, but my love was a bit more subdued for her. I just found it so hard not to want to smack her sometimes…I think I had a hard time wrapping my head around how long it took her to realize that a life always on the run really wasn’t a life at all. But I had to keep reminding myself that that was all she really knew, and she was so conditioned to that lifestyle that it wouldn’t be that easy to just accept that perhaps that wasn’t the only choice. I was also expecting her to behave in certain ways, and was pleasantly surprised when we did get to see her put her heart on the line as well.
I think I’ve discovered something about myself while reading these books…I don’t think I like mysteries. I have the kind of personality that NEEDS ALL THE ANSWERS and gets very impatient when things are hinted at but the reader is not told until much later. I’m just too fucking impatient. Seriously. It drives me insane that we would just get sprinkles of Dani’s past here and there throughout the story. I’m not talking about the part where Dani didn’t know everything until the end…I’m OK with that mystery (and even had my own theories about some of that, and was kind of close on a few parts). I’m talking about me, as a reader, not knowing what Dani knows when she hints at it (like what happened to have them on the run). It just ends up frustrating me. Even getting to know about Gavin and Dani’s past took a bit longer than I’d hoped. ALL THE IMPATIENCE! Again, this is not a failing in the writing, it’s just not a match for my personality.
You know what was a match for me?? That this book just expands upon the friendship of the four boys, and we get to see them all interacting quite a bit. And we get more pieces of Jules and Felix (and if I’d read Ian and Bianca yet, we get more of them too). AND I’m even more excited to figure out what’s up Ben’s butt, and see how his story will play out with Rachel. I also LOVED that we get to see the girl’s friendships develop as well, and I loved how Dani fit in with them.
So despite my little rant about impatience, I really did thoroughly enjoy this book!! Honestly, I think I just like to hear myself talk. "The Way Back to Us" is a really fantastic second-chance romance with hints of mystery. We follow Gavin and Dani in alternating first person points of view. Gavin and Dani had a passionate relationship back in college which ended when Dani disappeared without a word. Since then, Dani has been traveling around the country with her father, constantly watching over her shoulder. Gavin's band has become a hit, for which he writes and sings.
Everything is going to change when Dani and her father come to NYC. As they run into each other, they have to decide whether they can move forward- especially since their time is limited and Dani will have to leave eventually (she never stays anywhere for more than 6 months). However, as Gavin says, it's worth going to Hogwarts, even if you can't stay for very long.
As their relationship grows and we wonder about the mystery that keeps Dani constantly moving, the book completely sucks you in. I found myself unable to put it down as I became completely invested in Dani and Gavin. The second half is full of action and all sorts of events that I won't describe to avoid spoilers, but I will say that this is a heavily plot-driven romance. There are only a few hot and steamy scenes and the vast majority of the book focuses on their lives/events. I prefer it this way but I know some people prefer more intimate scenes, so I wanted to mention it.

I absolutely adored the first two books in this series, so I was ecstatic when the publisher emailed me to ask if I wanted to read and review the third one. I might have let out a little shriek of joy.
Gavin wasn't one of my favorite characters in the first two books, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book *wasn't* about him trying to overcome his commitment issues. From page 1, Gavin is focused on Dani, and that's how I like my romantic heroes to be. He came across as much more likable in this book than the first two. I loved seeing how much he cared about his family.
Dani took me a while to warm up to. But her soft spot for Gavin really made her more relatable, and I loved seeing the way she bonded with the other women.
Excellent writing, hot sex scenes, and an interesting plot that hasn't been done a thousand times. Highly recommended.
Really, I only have one issue: WHEN do we get Ben and Rachel's story???? (I'm dying for it, especially after reading this book.)

Surprisingly, The Way Back to Us managed to entertain me. There is mystery and suspense integrated in this rockstar romance, which is a big plus for me. For those who do not know, I really am into mysteries and thrillers more than YA or fantasy. I blame John Grisham for my fascination with action-themed books and Sidney Sheldon for the mysteries that I’ve always loved dissecting and solving.
When the female lead character of The Way Back To Us presented herself with danger and questions about her past and present situation, I knew I would get hooked. Plus, there’s the added bonus of rockstar (rockstars, plural!) who know how to make music and let music worm its way to the heart of its beloved. End result – me swooning and sweating with anticipation!

In the end, the story did surprise me and got me blown away. Jamie Howard managed to steal my breath. But still, I felt like there’s something else missing and I can’t wait to get it on the next book. Yay!!! As usual, the author’s writing was great and effortlessly engaging. Would love to delve into her other bodies of work soon!

What was that line about losing love? That they’d prefer to have lost it because that meant at one point they had it? I’d spend the rest of my life with a broken heart beating in my chest, but I’d never be anything but grateful for it because it meant I was lucky enough to fall in love. Even if it wasn’t the kind of love I could have forever.

Wow! The Way Back to Us is seriously good! Dani and Gavin had a serious relationship in college and one day she just vanished. When they meet again it becomes clear that neither of them has fallen out of love with the other. Their reconnection is hindered by a host of obstacles, but love is a battle worth the fight, right? Not to mention, there are a few surprises here that I didn't see coming that take this from nice second chance romance to captivating romance mystery/thriller.
So good. I dare you to start reading and then try to put it back down.

is the third book in Jamie Howard’s Love Unplugged series, and it's a fun and heartfelt romance with an intriguing and unexpected suspense storyline. Gavin MacCormack is the lovable, goofy lead singer of a famous rock band, but he’s not all smiles and jokes when he runs into the woman who broke his heart—his college girlfriend, Dani Winters. He thought he and Dani were destined to be together forever, but she up and left without a trace. He’s still angry and crushed over her abandonment, and he wants both revenge and answers when he runs into her again.

I absolutely loved this book!
I'm extremely picky about adult romance, so it says a lot that I'm a huge fan of every single one of Jamie Howard's romances. In the first two books in the Love Unplugged series, I fell in love with Gavin MacCormack -- particularly, his bantery bromance with Felix (star of Feeling of Forever). And I was intrigued about the mysterious woman from his past who broke his heart. So I was so excited for The Way Back to Us!
When Gavin was in college, he fell in love with a redhead named Dani -- only to have his heart broken when she vanished without a trace one morning, leaving nothing but a short note behind. Now, as the lead singer of the popular band, The Downfall, Gavin has put Dani behind him and is content playing the field. That is, until she shows up back in town and bumps into him. Now, Gavin wants answers about why Dani left and why she came back -- and why she's so hesitant to start a relationship with him now, even though it doesn't take long for the familiar sparks to return. But Dani has a dangerous secret, and letting Gavin back into her life could risk both of their safeties. She knows it isn't long before she'll have to disappear again, and she knows their relationship will only end one way -- in heartbreak.
I loved Dani. She is a total badass, and definitely not a damsel-in-distress heroine who needs saving. She can take care of herself. It was also cool that the usual brooding, closed-off romance character who didn't want a relationship was the girl this time -- a nice, refreshing change! Definitely one of my favorite romance heroines of all time. Why is it always the guy who gets to be broody and have secrets? Kind of a bummer that people are calling Dani "unlikable" when she acts just like many male romance heroes who get all the praise and love for their broodiness. If she is what people consider "unlikable," then give me all the unlikable women heroines, please!
I also loved Gavin. His dedication to Dani despite her coldness toward him was so endearing. He's such a great guy and I'm so happy he and Dani finally get their happy ending!
This second chance romance has a great romantic suspense element, and an awesome twist at the end. I loved it! I also loved seeing Ian and Bianca, Felix and Jules, and Ben and Rachel from the other books. Their friend group is awesome, and all the characters are so fleshed out and real. Best of all, I loved the return of my favorite Gavin-and-Felix banter, even though Felix lives with Jules now. I can't wait to read more from this author!

I really loved this one! Gavin and Dani were such wonderful characters and I wanted their second chance to work out right from the beginning. I really enjoyed the storyline that gave an interesting twist to the usual second chance trope. The writing was great and unraveled just enough of the story to keep us interested before revealing more. When Dani disappeared without a trace in college Gavin never thought he's see her again yet here she is. Working in his bar no less. It's clear she has secrets and Gavin plans to do whatever it takes to get them out of her and get her to stay.
Great read that I think everyone will enjoy. recommended read.

This is the first book I've read by this author. I didn't really know what to expect, but the blurb sounded interesting and I love second chance glances so I couldn't resist requesting it. What I got was a pleasant surprise.
I will admit when I started this book I was kind of in a funk. Nothing was holding my attention and I wasn't getting anything done during the day. Therefore, when I started this book and it also didn't make me feel better I put it to one side. And I'm so glad I did because when I returned to it I could appreciate it fully. My mood had completely overshadowed this story and once I got into it a second time I couldn't put it down
Gavin and Dani's story was interesting. I liked the mystery and I believed in the emotions between them. I felt their angst and they love. While I would have liked to witness a few of their past moments, their story held my attention well and I rooted for them. I liked Gavin's tight-knit group of friends as well and thought it created an intriguing and comical addition to the story.
The only criticisms I have are: one,the cover doesn't fit the story for me. It misled my expectations a bit. Second, I would have liked a bit more finality about the ending. It gave satisfaction in terms of the relationship, however, other strands were left open and I felt they should have been tied up. Unless there's going to be another book on Gavin and Dani, I had one too many questions left.
Nevertheless, overall, I enjoyed this book and I'm I intrigued to back read about other characters.

Years later Gavin is in a famous band and he only has one night stands. Then one day he accidentally runs into Dani ... his Dani! And all those old feeling come rushing back, but he knows he can't fall for her again because she will just leave ... again. Dani has been on the run her whole life ... her and her father. Even though they live separately, they are always in the same city and in contact every couple of weeks. But when Dani runs into Gavin, he brings back all her old feelings and she realizes that she is tired of living life alone, but she doesn't want to put Gavin in danger.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. But I wish I had read the 2 previous books first because I felt like I wasn't getting the whole story. The characters from the first 2 books are in it quite a bit and I will have to go back and read them so I can get their stories. This is a sweet heartbreaking story about second chances.

Gavin's shock at seeing Dani as a server at a dinner he is attending sends the reader back in time to when Dani and Gavin were in college, carefree (so he thought) and in love. When Gavin wakes up to an empty bed and a simple note he is devastated and seeing Dani again brings back that pain but moreso the anger.
Dani had to leave and couldn't tell him why. She is on the run and can't bring Gavin into that dangerous world for his own safety. Ending up in his hometown Dani knows there is no way she can't seek him out.
This story was intriguing and imaginative. Both Dani and Gavin are characters you love and want to be together. Circumstances might not allow for a happy ending but they agree to enjoy the journey until it is fatefully over. Secrets come out and things might not be all Dani thought them to be. Is she in danger? Will she ever find peace and happiness? Will Gavin and Dani ever find their way back?

Gavin and Dani were together years ago, and then she disappeared. No contact, no emails, nothing for years until they run into one another at an event and then at a bar.
Dani is running from somethikng, and she is not able/willing to tell Gavin what and she is afraid that being with him will get him (or her) hurt or killed.
So, there are reasons for her feeling that they should not be together. And, Gavin doesn't care. He wants Dani, and he really isn't all that concerned about her reasons for telling him no, and for pulling away from any sort of serious relationship with him.
I liked the set up of this title, and the idea that there was a reason that Dani was not able to stay, and, up until the end of the book, I was really on board with this. But, I didn't really buy the resolution of the book. I guess it could happen this way, I have little to no experience with being on the run from anyone, but it just didn't totally work for me. Not enough for me to dislike the book as a whole, but enough for me to be pulled a little out of it right at the end.
I do recommend this title overall.

Gavin and Dani were together years ago, and then she disappeared. No contact, no emails, nothing for years until they run into one another at an event and then at a bar.
Dani is running from somethikng, and she is not able/willing to tell Gavin what and she is afraid that being with him will get him (or her) hurt or killed.
So, there are reasons for her feeling that they should not be together. And, Gavin doesn't care. He wants Dani, and he really isn't all that concerned about her reasons for telling him no, and for pulling away from any sort of serious relationship with him.

Nice quick, light read. Fun story. I want to go back and read the previous two books as this feels like a great little series.
What I liked: I didn't need to read the other two books to get into this one.
What I loved: Can't say I really LOVED this book, but I loved that it had some different elements to the story and some twists you didn't really see coming.
What I hated: The main character didn't pick Autumn as her name.

A second chance romance with a hint of mystery. Gavin and Dani are complicated to say the least. But that is what made this story. The mysterious life of Dani is just that. I don't blame Gavin's friends at all for being protective of him. Just hold onto your seats as the truth behind Dani comes out. I love how Gavin embraces his second chance with Dani and doesn't want to let her go. When you know you know. As a first time read of Jamie Howard I plan on going back and reading the first 2 books and other works. The Way Back to Us drew me in and I was hooked.

Jamie Howard weaves suspense and intrigue into romance effortlessly. She also adds enough heart and humor to balance the book. The banter with Gavin and his bandmates is a blast. Dani's mysterious past had me hooked from page one. The chemistry between Gavin and Dani sizzles. Loved this book!

While I still love Jamie Howard's writing and gift for bringing heart into dark moments, I had a difficult time getting into Gavin and Dani's story. Not my cup of tea, but still much to love for fans of second-chance romance.

This novel was easily one of my most anticipated reads of the year. To say I was super duper excited to start this is an understatement of possibly epic proportions.
It was nice to get some closure for Gavin. I was super curious to learn more about the girl who captured his heart and I was not disappointed in the journey to learn all about it.
Like The Feeling of Forever, this one has a romantic suspense vibe to it. Which was a little unexpected but kept me hooked and constantly coming up with new theories for what was happening. Of course, I was totally wrong so bonus points for that twist! But the whole premise gave this story a unique feel to it and I found it to be a refreshing take on the second chance romance.
My only complaint is that I wanted to see how these two fell in love. For me, it almost read like a sequel novel to their first book where they fell in love and this was the novel to wrap it all up to see if love can conquer all. I'm a reader who likes to be shown those romantic moments where couples fall in love. It doesn't always work for me to be told why these two love each other as they battle the dramatic plot lines.
However, it did work here in a way. Obviously, these two make a great pair and I loved them together. As I reader I definitely got why these two would fight everything to be together. In that aspect Howard succeeds in her writing. But I wanted a little bit of that "so called" first book of theirs because I'm a huge fan. I wanted to see them meet and establish what is a great relationship and partnership instead of seeing it already exist. We get little tidbits here and there but I craved more because I just loved these two characters so much.

I really enjoyed last book in this series (The Feeling of Forever), because it was different – having a disabled hero and plenty of great characters – so I was excited to read this latest installment. But while that book was refreshing and different, this one sadly didn’t grab me in the same way.
Part of it is that there was no background or explanation given for Gavin’s fame. I read the last book back in February, so a little introduction or recap might have been nice, because Gavin’s rock star status is barely mentioned. The band gets name checked once, he’s mentioned as the lead singer once, and aside from a couple of song writing sessions, it’d be easy to overlook his career altogether. Considering music is supposed to be such a big part of Gavin’s life, it’s almost completely missing from the book. He doesn’t sing once.
Which was a shame, and a slight disappointment, but I probably could have overlooked it if the plot had interested me more. Dani is on the run from something. She and her dad have perfected all kinds of codes and meet ups and backup plans, and she can never stay in the same place too long, and so on and so forth. Fine. Except we don’t get any explanation for it until right towards the end. Before that we get only the merest of tiny hints and for me that wasn’t enough. I found it annoying rather than enticing, especially given the way Dani wriggles back into Gavin’s life, knowing full well that she’ll have to leave him again soon, possibly without saying goodbye. So even though I knew she probably had a really good reason for being on the run, I couldn’t actually like her.
I did, however, like Gavin. A lot. He’s fun and cute and so in love with Dani. I loved the connections he had with his friends and family, and pretty much everything about him really. He was great. As was catching up with the rest of the band again. I really like these characters, and the hints about Ben and Rachel left me eagerly anticipating the next book.
So overall it was an okay read. As with the last book, the biggest weakness was the suspense plot, which unfortunately was a much bigger part of the tale this time around. Still, most of the characters are great and I’ll definitely be looking out for the next book.

I hoped this book would be more enjoyable than book 2 which was the first book I read by this author. That’s why I decided to give this try. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I mean, it had its moments and the romance was the saving grace of this book.
For Gavin, Dani Winters was the one for him. But one day without any goodbye she disappears from his life leaving him shattered. After years, they come face to face with each other and realises their feelings for each other are still buried within. But Dani is still running from her demons. This might be their last chance to build something together or let go forever.
The thing is, the plot was waaay too common. I have read a number of books where the heroine is facing some extreme danger yet some simple communication would uncomplicate the matter but she decides to stay silent throughout the whole book until the end where a solution magically appears. *sighs* This plot has been overused so many times, it simply has lost its charm.
Though I have to say I didn’t see the plot twist coming just before it got revealed. But everything was too anti-climactic. I mean, it the story was following a certain pace but I felt the ending was too rushed and everything just happened all at once. It just didn’t make much sense to leave it like that, it would definitely have been better if some more explanations would have been given for the reason it happened and why it happened. I really wanted the backstory.
Anyway, the characters were the ones who did not let me put the book down. Gavin never got over Dani, for him she was everything and after she suddenly disappeared from his life, he stopped believing in love. A cliche, I know. Though I felt bad for the guy. He never gave up. Dani was a mysterious woman but everything could have been solved as a team but she chose to run away instead. But there were moments which made everything perfectly clear how much she still cared for him. The chemistry between them was electric but I wished there was more plot development.
Overall, The Way Back to Us was an okay read. Although the plot was cliched, I enjoyed the characters and the romance. The writing was smooth and easy to read.
Recommend it?
