About the author

Axel was born in Hamburg, Germany. At school he was good at art, but didn’t think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition.

He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 Kate suggested him as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson’s first picture book text, A Squash and a Squeeze. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership: their bestselling modern classic, The Gruffalo, has sold over three-and-a-half million copies worldwide, and the TV animation was broadcast on Christmas day 2009.

Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages.

Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.

Neljän tähden kirja: ihastuttava kuvitus, sopivasti huumoria ja mukava tarina, josta voi oppia tuiki tärkeitä kaveritaitoja. Hurjan kiva sarja tämä Pete ja Pulmu, näin kahden luetun osan perusteella ainakin. Kaksi seuraavaa on jo varattu kirjastosta. :)

Kisfiam kapta karácsonyra, és persze rögtön el is olvastam neki. Már megismerkedtem a Pipp és Polli sorozattal korábban, de ez az első saját kötetünk belőle.
Szerintem aranyos a sztori, összeveszés, bocsánatkérés, kibékülés, játszás, és persze havas, téli téma.
A rajzokat is nagyon szeretem benne.

A sweet little story about 2 friends that have to learn to work together and to apologize after having a little spat. I really love that Alex Scheffler allowed the characters to get a little ugly (destroying a snowman, pushing) before apologizing. It seems true to kid experience. Nice modeling of apology, too. We will definitely reread this book.

Kolejny tom fantastycznej serii dla dzieciaczków POLA I PIOTRUŚ ZIMOWY DZIEŃ, to wiadomość cudowna zwłaszcza, że zima za progiem, a ten tom jest jednym z najlepszych i moich ulubionych. Naprawdę, trudno oprzeć się urokowi tej dwójki, a gdy dodamy do tego piękne ilustracje i mądre przesłanie - i dla dużego i dla małego - to czegoż jeszcze można chcieć?!
Tym razem na pierwszy plan wyłania się BAŁWAN i obiecuję, jego obecność zamiesza w kociołku przyjaźni. Pola i Piotruś będą musieli nauczyć się współpracować i iść na kompromisy, a także (co jest arcytrudne) mówić "przepraszam".
Jak zawsze Axel Scheffler zachwyca ilustracjami - jest to jeden z najlepszych artystów ilustracji dla dzieci współcześnie i w pełni zasłużenie. Świetnie rozumie dzieci i w piękny sposób obrazuje moc wyobraźni.
Książki te wyglądają zjawiskowo. Dla mnie to perełki w gatunku książeczek dla młodszych dzieci. Cała seria, to bomba! Kolorowy tort pełen mądrych i kochanych opowieści. Bardzo polecam!

if you give me a picture book about animals being adorable and wearing scarves and being friends, there is a 90% chance i'm going to love it. this is one of those times. The Snowy Day reminded me of the likes of the Max and Ruby series by Rosemary Wells and Richard Scarry's Busy, Busy Town. highly recommend!

This book would be a good book to read about during winter time. It talks about how the kids are getting ready to go outside and play in the snow. Then it talks about them making a snowman and having fun in the snow. But then things get bad when they push each other in the snow and they get wet and cold. They get mad at each other for a few minutes but then they up and apologize and go back inside and change and get warm.

Όπως όλα τα Τικ και Τέλα, ιδανικό σχέδιο για κάτω των 4 ετών. Η ιστορία λίγο αδύναμη, αν και έχει κι αυτή ένα απλό ηθικό δίδαγμα και είναι ρεαλιστική. Τα παιδιά μπορεί να μαλώσουν ανά πάσα στιγμή. Το γενναίο είναι να αναγνωρίσουν το λάθος τους και να ζητήσουν συγγνώμη. Έτσι μπορεί να ξαναγίνει πολύ όμορφη μία ωραία μέρα που χάλασε προσωρινά από ένα μάλωμα ή μία παρεξήγηση. Βαθμολογία: 7/10.

Cute illustrations. Such details as the clay giraffe with it's head flopped over makes it look more realistic, as if those two kids actually made all those clay animals. And the artwork pinned on the wall that actually looks like kids drew them. Good message of resolving conflict and mutually beneficial compromise.

Review: This book was fine. A solid story time book, but not really something that I would recommend for parents. It's kind of bleh.

Pip and Posy love playing together and playing in the snow. Eventually they have a disagreement and need to learn to resolve it. Beautiful illustrations and a nice message about friendship. It's a good group read aloud for story time!

Quick read. My toddler hasn’t seen snow yet so I’m not sure he understood what it is but he liked the page where Pip and Posy slid down a hill. I think he understood the pages with playdough too.
