If it wasn't for the rushed ending and the numerous editing errors, this could have been a great story. Dan and Chloe were great together but the plot development fell short.

Dan was very popular in high school, especially with the girls. Chloe was shy, conservative and a good student. In high school, Dan didn't really notice Chloe, but now he can't take his eyes off her. Chloe's had a crush on Dan for a while now, a secret crush. It's Thanksgiving break and they see each other again. Dan is in college playing football, so he is expected back at school soon. He does make time for Chloe though. Chloe and Dan are two very different people. Dan is an up and coming football player, who will most likely go pro. Chloe is stuck in her hometown caring for her father. With Dan heading back to school and Chloe caring for her father, it seems they've come to an impasse. Months pass with no communication, they didn't even have a proper goodbye, and life goes on. Dan ends up playing professional football and Chloe's gone back to school and has become successful. But Dan did leave Chloe something she will treasure forever. Years later, Dan finds out just what that something is. Will he be upset with Chloe for not telling him sooner? Will life and too many secrets be too much to overcome? THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING ! WELL WRITTEN WITH COMPLEX CHARACTERS ! HOT AND STEAMY SEX ! ! ! A TRUE LOVE STORY ! AWESOME READ !
I voluntarily read an ARC copy of this book from the Author Dan is a quarterback and can have any woman he wants but he wants Chloe the one that got away When they see each other again the sparks still fly between them but Chloe has a secret she has kept from Dan The was a fantastic written book and had me gripped from the start
A cute story. Nothing exciting that would make me panting for the next book. A couple of problems, when Dan and Chloe hook up the second time she is wearing jeans, a shirt and jacket. Suddenly when they are undressing she has a dress on? Did I miss a clothing change some where? And then in the epilogue, at the top of the chapter where the author is telling us who’s POV it is, Chloe’s name is now Sara. Little things like that bother me. I doubt I will be reading this author again.
There was no uncertainty about what and where this story was going, but as an author I hadn’t read before, I was more interested in how she was going to get the characters to their final destination and not lose me along the way and I am happy to report that she did just that, I enjoyed the story. The characters were engaging and while of the path they were on was one that could easily be described as well worn, I couldn’t help but be intrigued as to how their decisions were going to affect them both. Dan is back in town on the thanksgiving break and bumps into Chloe, and while he didn’t really have much to do with her when they were in high school, things are a tad different now because now, she consumes him. Back then he was all about his game, the football protégé that had everything you would expect the high school football star to have, never ending popularity and a plethora of girls falling over themselves to be with him. Chloe on the other hand was the consummate book worm and student, she went out of her way to keep herself to herself, of course she knew who Dan was but considering their paths were never likely to cross, her admiration and affection were something she was able to keep to herself, a secret crush almost. But now things are different, now she has his attention and they have to decide what to do with the attraction between the two of them. They know their time is limited after all Dan is due back to college after the break and Chloe’s life is structured around caring for her father, so a quick fling it is then, and when the holidays are over, they would be too, or so it would seem but was it? Because with Dan gone and no contact between the two of them, not even a proper goodbye, Chloe makes a decision that when it is eventually revealed could very well have devastating consequences. It takes a long time for the two of them to eventually get back in touch, and in the meantime they have both moved on, Chloe has made a success of her life since that glorious Thanksgiving and Dan is now doing what he had always intended, he is playing professional football but when Dan discovers Chloe’s secret how will he react? Can they find a way to make the situation work or is it too painful? Has too much passed them by? I think what I liked the most about the book was the fact that the author didn’t dwell too much on the early years, she concentrated on their here and now, their attempt to forge a proper relationship, second time around. They had so much to work through that I was praying that they could see their way through to get to a happy ever after. The story set a blistering pace and I have to admit that it was that pace that had me frantically turning the pages, desperate to see where they were going to go next and if they would be together. Well written, this is one that you really shouldn’t miss.
Dan was a football star in high school, while Chloe was the shy nerd; they were in the same class, but rarely talked even though they lived on the same block. Chloe has always had a crush on Dan, while he realises there is something special about Chloe. Dan is heading back to college soon, while Chloe, once the smartest student in class, only has a dead-end job and a grumpy dying father to contend with. Chloe’s father doesn’t approve of Dan; his reputation precedes him and now that he is older, a real man, her father approves of him even less. When Dan goes back to college, their relationship comes to an end and it is not until 6-years later that they meet again. Dan is now a famous footballer and while there has been lots of women in his life, he still remembers the one that got away; Chloe from his home town. When Dan’s mother becomes ill, Dan knows it is time to go back home; he realises he is tired of his lifestyle and is looking for something else. Meanwhile, Chloe has worked hard to make something of herself and to provide a good life for her daughter, Scout, the love of her life. Not telling Dan about Scout is one of Chloe’s greatest regrets, but when the two of them meet up again, Dan is looking for a second chance. Why did it take a simple coincidence, a single turn of fate, to throw them back together again; but nothing can change the reality that they are both adults now with their own responsibilities. Dan invites Chloe and Scout to a football game, but some remarks his Coach makes distracts Dan from his game and he starts questioning himself. More importantly, how could Chloe do this to him; did she think he was so irresponsible. What has he done to deserve this exclusion and can he ever forgive Chloe? This story had a good premise and overall I found it very engaging and I enjoyed reading it. A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
I liked this book. The characters are good and strong, each with their own story that guides them to the decisions they've taken and how they end up together. The author gives us a "typical" situation, yet expands it into a story that will warm your heart and renew the perception that true love never fades, even though it may be buried for a period of time. Chloe has always had a bit of a crush on her "down a couple of doors" neighbor and football star, Dan. All through school, she was the bookworm and him the jock, even though he never really noticed her. Until coming home for Thanksgiving during his college years, only to find Chloe and her dad at his parents home for the holiday meal. Chloe's dad is dying, his kidneys are shutting down and there isn't anything they can do for him, so she has stayed home to care for him, opting to not go to college. When Chloe and Dan meet during his holiday home, the attraction is mutual and strong. Will they be able to let it go or will they act upon their attraction? A good read!
Another heartwarming story by Roxanne. I really enjoyed the story. I loved Dan's character, the man whore with a love struck heart. I must admit the final 2 chapters, though I liked them, weren't my favorites, the hope, anger, love and fear were pushed to the side to easily, but the epilogue redeemed it well.
Chloe has had a hard couple of years, her Mum passed away, and now her Dad is dying, but Thanks Giving at a neighbors place is about to change everything for her. Dan is home from College and his parents have invited a girl he kind of knew in high school and her father for dinner. They both have an instant attraction, and it's more that Dans normal womanizing ways that have him perusing Chloe. After they finally get together, Chloe receives a call letting her know her Dads been rushed to hospital. With her Dads intense dislike of Dan and her guilt over being with Dan when her Dad needed her, she blocks Dan out of her life, that is until she realizes she's pregnant. The years pass Dan still mourns for his lost relationship with Chloe, the womanizing he turned to isn't helping. When Dan receives a call his Mums been hurt, he rushes home to help her. A chance encounter with Chloe renews the passion he never lost for her, but will the secret she kept from him for all these years destroy what could have been perfect..

Dan finds Chloe irresistible and wants to find out more about her. After sharing Thanksgiving dinner with her and her ailing dad they went for a drive. He tells her how he feels and kisses her. Chloe is just as freaked out about this kiss they he'll ever know. Police interrupts their moment and Chloe has to get back home to her dad. After making plans to meet the next day, she drops him off and heads home. Dan heads over to her home and helps out with some plumbing issues then he and Chloe go out for a bit. After having the most amazing sex (condom breaks) Chloe receives a call that her dad is in the hospital. Once at the hospital Chloe can't help but let emotions push Dan away. He heads back to college and they don't meet up again until 6 years later.
Chloe has made a name for herself and along with raising her daughter Scout, she is doing well. When she has a new patient come in for physical therapy it just so happens to be Dan's mother. He also is with her. These two seem to pick up right where they left off but she has a secret that is making her feel guilty. Dan has always wondered what he was missing and seeing Chloe again helped him realize that it has been her the whole time. Do they make a go of this strange hold they seem to have on each other? Will she tell Dan about Scout and how will he feel about it?
This is not your typical secret baby story. A sweet story and worth reading.
I really dislike giving bad reviews but, this book had so many flaws. The writer should consider getting a new proof reading because there were Errors in the sentence and continuity. At one point Chloe is wearing jeans but, later it says her dress pools around her feet. WTH? They lived in the same yet Ben's parents never noticed Chloe was pregnant? And when they do run Into each other again Ben's Mother doesn't even recognize Chloe. Chloe and her Father were at their home for Thanksgiving and his Mother doesn't remember Chloe? Makes no sense. Also neither Ben or Chloe have any friends. Ben's on a pro football team but, isn't friends with anyone. At one point Ben has to go home. He just leaves even though a game is coming up. Can a pro football player really just up and leave with permission. Again made no sense.
She remembers him an she takes advantage of the holidays to be with him an she succeeds an it changes her life forever
2 students passing in the halls at the same high school one jock the other a nerd by school class neither knowing each other . Then one Thanksgiving holiday 1 year into college he goes home for the holidays an his parents invite her an her dad over for Thanksgiving Dinner an he meets her for the first time an he's floored by her beauty an her body an he doesn't remember her at all at high school if she looked like this in high school he would of remembered her .18+
Chole's and Dan's story or love lost and found and he finds out I have been hiding a secret I had his baby I was doing good ok well what the heck I need help I was running a business and had this precious little one and I was exhausted but I would never give up my baby no matter what I was or was not no matter what Dan did or did not do to me and he still could bring me to my knees no matter what he did not me lol great story or love and second chance I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I am never one to enjoy being tricked into purchasing a book that I believe is a pretty long story. Instead you get two. And to be truthful I got this for the "Running Back's Baby" which was very emotionally disconnected story. There wasn't real passion that captured you, and it dragged and dragged for some parts and then others it was boom your a dad. Was just too disappointed with this story, oh and the book needs to be proofed so so many errors it makes it tough to finish.
She’s always admired him from afar at school and secretly she’s wanted him and now he’s notices her when her father is dying slowly and painfully but he needs to go back to his life. What will she do when he’s simply gone but she doesn’t want to face him when her father passes and finds out she’s pregnant with his child. And now many years later she’s facing him again and she can’t resist him what will she tell him about scout? Will she tell him the truth that he has a daughter?
The premise of the story was okay. The way the dialogue was written unfortunately lacked passion and felt disconnected. Chloe's reasoning for keeping Scout a secret made no sense. After reuniting after years they never had a real conversation they just jumped back into the physical and that was unrealistic. The characters had potential but they did not quite develop. There were also quite a few spelling mistakes as well.
I do love a good second chance, sports, baby romance. Chloe and Dan have a one night stand. Dan didn't want it to be one night but Chloes father got sick while she was with Dan. Her father later dies and she finds out she is having a baby. By then though she has not responded to any of Dans calls or anything, so Dan had given up.
6 years later they meet again, and Dans not letting her go again. Lucky for Chloe he forgives her for not telling him about their daughter.
They live happily ever after, get engaged and have another baby on the way.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Dan the Quarterback was a very popular guy, especially with the ladies. Problem is, he only has eyes for one girl, sweet shy Chloe. There is just something about her he can't forget. Chloe hasn't had an easy time of things. Studying, college, looking after sick dad, just no time for anything except those special moments with Dan. But when they want to be together, something always gets in the way. One last time to be together before Dan goes off to college. That's when the fun starts or should I say, fate takes a hand that will change their lives forever. A really good story that makes you realise that Dan has always love Chloe and finding out he has a daughter is quite a shock. A really lovely story , enjoyed it all.
Dan and Chloe had a great weekend together once upon a time, but when her father ended up getting sicker on their only night together, she felt guilty and didn't contact him back. It devastated Dan, but he went on to be a pro baller, but he never forgot the one that got away. When his mom falls and breaks her hip, he goes home to help out with her and takes her to appointments. Never expecting to see Chloe, but she's his moms physical therapist. He asks her out and they have a great night together. Only problem is, she's hiding a big secret from him. Will they make it through the surprise announcement? Will their feelings ever have a chance to come out? Must read to find out.
Dan and Chloe went to school together but did not run in the same circles. They hook up once during his return to town during a college break and it changes her life. She finds herself pregnant but does not tell him. Six years later, he is back in town and hasn't stopped wanting her. It will not be easy to reveal her secret.
I like second chance romances. Chloe had a hard time and made a difficult decision. She was trying to protect everyone. I don't blame her for her choice. I liked watching them try to connect and make it work.
I liked the latest from Roxeanne Rolling. When Dan comes home from college for Thanksgiving he never planned on the attraction to Chloe. They knew of each other in high school, but traveled in different circle, but now he is seeing her for her and liking what he sees. Chloe's life is complicated with a sick father and having to take care of him so Dan and the attraction they share was unexpected. When life gets real they go their separate ways, but think of the other often. 6 years brings many changes for them both and when they run into each other again it's like they haven't missed a day. But there is more to Chloe's life than she is willing to share with him and when she does it will change everything for them. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest review of this book based on an advanced readers copy I received of Running Back's Baby by Roxeanne Rolling. If you love sport romances then you'll definitely love Dan and Chloe's story
Dan and Chole may not have run in the same social circles in high school, being that he was absorbed with football, cheerleaders, and more football, and that was not her thing. Now Chole and her ailing father are sitting across from Dan at his family's table for Thanksgiving Dinner-Captivated by her. Chole is convinced to take a drive with Dan; she is beside herself! The sparks flying between them are high, but he will be leaving to go back to college in a couple of days, can she handle a fling with the infamous womanizer? What's the worst that could happen? A sweet, sexy insta-all in no holds barred kind of second chance romance, Roxeanne Rolling skipped the pleasantries and got right down to business! Fast paced, kept me flipping pages wanting to know how they could fix the train wreck they had tried to engage! I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book
Two of my favorite things here, second chance romance mixed with a sports romance. Chloe and Dan meet up during his college break for thanksgiving but then he goes back to school with no contact. Chloe moves on with her life to make it the best possible. What Happens when they run into eachother years later and there are huge secrets. Such a great book. *I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book*
Maybe the problem is within me and not with the book ? but for me the writing style and the whole book was just simple unrealistic .. the converstations, the characteristics of that little 6 years old girl , the things she said and how she said it ... She is not a 30 years old come on. I know there are pretty mature and old soul kind of children out there in real life too but they are still just that.. children so if you want to write about them do that with a different touch than the adults .. This problem was one of the reason why the book although got my interest I feel like its a 2 for me ! Maybe next time I can " feel" Roxanne's story.
“We’re going to have a lot of fun together… as a family.”
Dan and Chloe have a night of passion before her dad gets really sick. Dan goes back to school and Chloe finds out she's pregnant. Reconnecting six years later, can she tell him her secret? I really liked this book. Hot and steamy! Enjoy!!!
