No one rides like Chase Austin.

Bad boy. Player. Adrenaline junkie. Snowboarder Chase Austin has a reputation—and not just for being the world’s best extreme athlete. He’s as cold as the mountains he rides, loyal only to his crew . . . and panties drop wherever he goes.

Photographer Brooke Larson knows better than to let him get through her emotional Kevlar. So what if she used to have his poster on her bedroom wall? She’s not a teenager with a crush anymore. Chase Austin is her key to the big time, and she’s getting his photo no matter what.

Too bad the only place Chase wants her is in his bed.

Men leave. Success is forever. Brooke knows the drill, and she’s not letting anyone get in the way of her career—or into her heart.

But whether it’s on the slopes or between the sheets, riding with the best means risking it all.

Well, hello there sexy new cover...meow...

Remarkable that a debut author could capture the reader's attention from the very first page. If you're looking for a thrilling, emotional book, this is it. It's so good that once I returned it to Kindle U, I promptly bought a copy.

★ 4.5 “My kind of crazy.” stars!!! ★

“What’s the point of being so sad about good things ending if you don’t enjoy them while they last?”

I’ve seen him flying before. Now I’m flying with him.”

Mal posso esperar, estou bem ansiosa e curiosa! Na verdade, quero livro de todos!

“That’s no way to live a life. So afraid of bad things happening to you that you never let anything happen to you at all.”

“Taking risks is what your heart is for.”

Another book that made me feel bored out of my mind.

The MCs are two dysfunctional individuals that fail to communicate most of the time. I disliked both of them.

It is told by the heroine's point of view. The dialogues are so very scarce. 80% of the book is inner monologues of her. And pages and pages of them riding the snow or watching the snow, the scenery etc.

It was too slow and so very uninteresting for me, lacking emotions, passion and communication. I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters. Both were as cold as the winter snow they were riding.

There are differing reviews about this book, some readers are loving it and some are finding it boring as I did, so maybe you should try it for yourself to see if you will like it. I am sorry I didn't.

Last week, I shared a post on IG about my favorite sports romances and asked for recommendations. At least two people suggested RIDE, and since it was on KU, I downloaded it immediately.

And wow, am I glad I did.

RIDE is Harper Dallas's debut novel, but it doesn’t read like one at all. It’s amazing—packed with all the FEELS and completely addicting from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down!

For me, a great sports romance strikes the perfect balance between the romance and the sport itself. RIDE nailed it. At over 400 pages, it’s brimming with incredible scenes showcasing snowboarding and sports photography, making it feel authentic and immersive.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster—angsty, gripping, and filled with heart-stopping moments. The ending was particularly satisfying; the author took her time crafting a conclusion that left me completely fulfilled. Oh, and the sex scenes? SCORCHING HOT!

What stood out most was how emotionally engaging the story was. The writing felt fresh, unique, and utterly captivating. It had everything I adore in a sports romance: electric chemistry between the main characters, a lovable supporting cast, and a swoon-worthy hero.

From the moment Chase and Brooke met, sparks flew. Chase, the cool bad-boy snowboarder not looking for anything serious, and Brooke, burned by her ex and steering clear of trouble, had a chemistry that leapt off the page. Watching their connection evolve was pure magic—I couldn’t stop cheering them on.

What makes RIDE stand out is its fresh twist on a beloved trope. These days, it’s hard for a story to feel truly original, but Harper Dallas delivered something special.

Finding new authors is always exciting, especially when they show so much promise. I’m thrilled to have discovered Harper Dallas and can’t wait to read her next book! If you love sports romances, RIDE is a must-read.

I’m still curious what these two characters found attractive in each other. I think she liked him because he is a giant beast of a man, he’s mysterious and broody, she’s had a crush on him since she was a teenager.

I think he liked her because she’s the first woman to ever say no to him.

She doesn’t act like a professional in the least, constantly lusting over him while also saying she has no interest in him other than just being a photographer.

She stands firm to NOT have sex with him and sacrifice her career for a quick bedroom romp, until she does.

Chase being the emotionally closed off sexy hunk became very old, very quickly.

Really needed his pov because I was sick of her inner dialogue that went like this…

Chase Austin is making me breakfast. Chase Austin, my teenage crush. Chase Austin, the man I just had mind-blowing sex with.

Or this

Chase. Chase Austin. The world’s most famous snowboarder. A celebrity with a seven-figure paycheck. The guy I’ve worshipped since I was a teenager, and last night he had his face between my thighs.

Stop it’s embarrassing. All the snowbunnies want him, but he wants meeeeee. Literally, right after they have sex, he leaves the room saying “Not serious,” turns off the bedroom light, and leaves her laying all by herself.

Dnf at 48%. Done reading emotionally stunted characters for today.

Okay. What can I say about this book? First, I can’t believe this is a debut. The writing here is that of a seasoned author, not a new blood. The style, the pacing, the character-building. It is all on-point.

I have to admit, I have been in a romance slump lately. I was starting to worry that after writing so many of them myself, it had made it impossible to read the genre. I was in the middle of a historical fiction when I decided to pick this one up (as a rec from my PA).

I’m SO glad I did. Harper Dallas has restored my love of the genre.

This is pegged as a “sports romance,” which, well, would normally mean I would never even buy it as I am, ah, not a sports fan. I’m what you would call ‘indoorsy.’ But since it was recommended, I figured, why not? And while there is definitely an emphasis on the snowboarding aspect, it didn’t make me want to slam my head against a wall in boredom. At all. In fact, I was riveted.

I like a push and pull and angst in the books I read. Harper manages to give all of that without it being over the top or cheesy.

The hero was a cocky, aloof, emotionally distant (though he does warm up!)

The heroine was strong and able to resist him at first (ugh, nothing worse than a ‘Oh, I can’t help myself!’ pushover heroine, amIrite?)

The sex was hot.

The plot was great.

So, yes, READ THIS! You won’t be disappointed.

Woah! Is there anything better than a debut author rocking your world with a breathtaking read? Not in my world. I have devoured this book in 24 hours, resenting every minute I wasn’t reading. I couldn’t put the book down and yet I wanted to sprint to the culmination, consumed by every chapter.

I am a serious sucker for sports romance but I’ve only read the odd book set in the snowboarding world. Chase is a pro-snowboarder, a cocky jerk but with all the talent in the world. Brooke is a extreme sports photographer, just wanting to catch her break, living week to week. These two have a reluctant pull to one another and holy smokes, that pull drags the reader in. The chemistry between these two is fiery and compelling but it’s the story that makes you addicted to this couple. There’s a lot of conflict between Chase and Brooke, they’re both emotionally stunted.

“How come when we don’t open our mouths, we have such a good time together, and as soon as we speak something goes wrong?”

“I’m not sure you experience things through several inches of emotional Kevlar.”

There is a strong cast of friends in this book, a four-some of elite snowboarders and it seems the rest of the series is going to be each of the friends; I am so here for that. Hanne and JJ really brought depth to the storyline for me and I’m looking forward to their books, especially Hanne who I have zero inkling about in terms of romantic interest.

So, I’m busy telling all my book buddies who love sports romance to give this a try. It truly doesn’t feel like an author debut, therefore I have high hopes of what’s to come as Harper Dallas can write.

**Re-read note, it stood up to a second go around. Such a great read**

Ride doesn’t read or feel like a debut. It feels like an experienced writer who knows what she’s doing. Harper Dallas has created a fabulous snowboarding universe with Ride and the The False Kings riders. I was completely immersed in these characters and their passion for what they love. They face their fears every time they step onto a mountain and ride on the snow.

Brooke loves boarding too but her job is as a photographer. When she gets the opportunity to work with the False Kings her dreams are coming true. Chase, her hero when she was a kid, proves to be a challenge. Their connection is immediately and incredible but they both have their “emotional kevlar” on thanks to their past and painful experiences.
They struggle with their feelings and letting people in. The only time they do is when they’re boarding together. There they’re their true selves. Just being. Seizing the moment. No words just them.

The remaining crew of the False Kings JJ, Hanne and Hunter are great too. I’m invested in all of them. The friendship between them shines and it clear they’re more than friends. They’re family.
Brooke’s family, her mother, grandpa and best friend Alex are her everything. Her home.

Ride is a thrilling and wonderful sports romance. A fabulous debut and first book in a series. I’m so excited to read JJ. Ride leads up to his story
in the most teasing and delicious way.

"Taking risks is what your heart is for."
In all its New Adult angsty glory, I LOVED this one!

Brooke is an extreme sports photographer who has a chance encounter at an airport with world-famous snowboarder Chase Austin, a man whose poster was on her wall while she was growing up. He's still beautiful, but he turns out to be a bit of an ass in real life.

But the meeting leads to professional opportunities that Brooke can't pass up.

So begins Brooke and Chase's epic battle of wills, one that's wrought with sexual tension and emotional Kevlar.
I have no fucking idea what Chase Austin thinks - not ever.
I'm not exactly sure how the author managed to keep me so enthralled with this story when both main characters were so emotionally closed off, but she pulled it off spectacularly.
Between us gravity blossoms, tearing at the solid ground beneath my feet.
Despite Brooke's demand that their relationship remain professional, she couldn't help but be attracted to Chase - and neither could I, LOL.
There's something so primal in the absolute confidence of his sprawl, demanding space and taking it. His legs splay wide before him, one arm slung with easy possession over the wood behind his shoulders. Unthinking dominance ripples off him, from the low thrum of his chuckle to the laziness of his smile.
In addition to their smoking hot chemistry, I really loved the quiet moments that Brooke and Chase shared while on the mountains, snowboarding together. A wonderful sense of peace and comfort oozed from the pages, and boosted their intimacy levels by about a 1000%. Gah!! They were so good together.

If it weren't for the push and pull going on for too long, this would have been a full five star read for me. Also, there was a lot of repetition in the way Chase was described - though I'm not deducting anything for that because who doesn't want to read about muscles tensing under fabric or tattooed biceps flexing. :D

Definitely recommend!

A wonderful sports romance read!

Brooke was a sports photographer and Chase was the best world snowboarder.
Their journey was not easy, both characters had their flaws and baggage and their relationship grew over time.
I loved them, even their slow burn romance!

It was very well written and developed, angsty, emotional, the main characters’ chemistry was beautiful and the bond between Chase and his friends was magnificent.

There was a lot of inner thinking and the dialogues between the main couple were minimal.
The whole story was told by Brooke’s pov, apart from the epilogue which had Chase’s pov❣️

This is my first read by Miss Dallas. I have to admit, the writing is good. Promising. Its just.... she needs to build more depth/ angle/ plot on the story. The audio book is 1o hours long. And the majority of this 10 hours is filled with inner dialog of Brooke's obsession with Chase. How handsome he is, how sexy, how hot, how he ride the snow, how he drink even how he ripped the condom wrapper.

I get it that Chase is alpha male hero. But too much information in 10 hours length. There is a lot of push and pull between Chase and Brooke. I do not even understand why Chase keeps Brooke at a arms length. I guess Miss Dallas is more focusing on how handsome Chase is and how Brooke is helplessly in love with him.

Overall, I still enjoy this book OK. I am not going to read the next installment.

Ride was Harper Dallas’ debut novel. It was written as a standalone but will be the first in the Wild series featuring each member of the False Kings Crew.

Chase Austin was a gorgeous, world famous, professional snowboarder. He was intense, hard working, rich and brooding as well as a playboy through and through. He had a single minded focus on his career. He wore an emotional mask so it was obvious there were hurts, scars and numerous layers of protection surrounding his very public being.

Brooke Larson was a free lance photographer. She was working hard towards her big break. Her motto was work, work and more work and not let any man get close enough to hurt her. She had enough hurt from men to last a lifetime.

I loved this book. At times I was an emotional mess, but it was fitting. It was well written, well developed and had a complex storyline with depth and dimension. It was written with a single POV, Brooke’s; which left a good bit of mystery surrounding Chase and his broodiness. However, as a bonus, we received Chase’s POV in the epilogue. It was a perfect way to close the book.

Dallas did an incredible job of setting the stage for the series. She left it open for more development for Chase and Brooke and there is no doubt they have an HEA. But she also provided a strong and intriguing foundation for JJ, Hanne and Hunter’s stories as well. Kudos to Dallas for a 5 Star debut and I can’t wait to get my hands on JJ next!

Awful book. Eyeroll inducing. Spineless heroine and a jackass hero. No characterization whatsoever. There was no chemistry between the heroine and hero (can't remember their names, that's how forgettable them and this book was). Their relationship was strictly sexual and there wasn't even anything there with that. Plus, nothing happens between them until almost halfway through the book. I hate books that are slow developing their characters' relationships like that unless it's done in a way that doesn't make me bored out of my mind waiting for something to happen. They were totally dull as two people supposedly falling in love with each other. I don't understand how they became so head over heels with each other seeing how they didn't really converse. There wasn't one conversation I can recall between the two of them. Just them having sex and and when they did converse with each other it was them telling each other how what they had was not serious. The book was just boring and dull. Nothing interesting happens at all in this book, just them hanging out and snowboarding. I don't understand the raving amazon reviews. This book was a waste of my time. I skimmed the last 30% and even then barely finish it. I didn't even read the epilogue because that's how much I didn't care about these characters. I just wanted to be done with it.

4.5 My Kind Of Crazy Stars

Where to start? First off, I’m very impressed with the character development in this debut novel. I’d call this a slow burn, especially on the emotional front. My favorite types of reads consist of an alternating POV. This one was the h’s POV, until the epilogue; which ended up being just about perfect, aside from me wanting more of it.

Chase, had the dark, broody, tortured, and mysteries thing on lock down! I felt the tension coming off of him in ripples! Him being a professional extreme snow boarder, didn’t detract from his hawt points either. Brooke, was an independent driven woman, that was determined to get her fledgling extreme sports photography career off the ground.

An airport can be such a cliched meeting place, not so much for these two. It was just the beginning of the push and pull that made this what it was.

“The brutal reality is that we ride—that the people I love ride—and we accept the unthinkable risks, and we keep going.
I used to think it was because what riding gave us was so good it was worth the bad bits. Now that feels like a lie. What if we are just selfish idiots, blowing our chances at a happy, normal life for a few hits of adrenaline?”

I’m more than ready to read the next book in this series, CRASHED. I have a strong feeling Dallas Harper, is going to become one of my new “one click” authors...

“I love you can be said with our mouths, but it doesn’t have to be."

"Why is honesty easier, in the dark?"

Synopsis:
After being fired from her dream job (before she actually even started her first day), Brooke ends up in Switzerland with an incredible opportunity to fulfill her dreams. Unfortunately a famous snowboarder stands in the way of her path to fulfillment. Of course, it just happens to be the hot athlete who was the star of her teenage fantasies.

My Thoughts: The following are my thoughts about this book:
General:
- Trigger warning: none
- Setting: Laax, Switzerland; Bella Coola, British Columbia; Mammoth Lakes, California: Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Characters:
Chase (34, world-famous athlete-extreme pro Snowboarder):
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Chase: effortless style, predatory, cool reserve, confident, handsome, intense, distant, asshole, arrogant, talented, surly, prick, closed off, cocky

* Something to know about Chase:
- Has gold medals and is a legend of freeriding, a big-mountain rider and big time adrenaline junkie
- A family tragedy has resulted in some pretty big guilt
- Retired from his pro career but still active on the slopes and with sponsors

* A quote about Chase:
- "They’re all gifted boarders, but Chase is something else. His body moves graceful as water from grinds to jumps, fluid force in each expert twist. He gets air with more power than the rest of them put together, launching like a bullet, all that destructive potential becoming like music in the air. Weightless."

Brooke (24, extreme sports freelance photographer):
* The following words/phrases were used to describe Brooke: lost, beautiful, babbles when nervous, surrounds herself with emotional Kevlar, talented, driven, passionate about her photos

* Something to know about Brooke:
- She has a close relationship with her mom, Pop-Pop and her best friend.
- Her dad is a famous athlete who has been absent all her life. She hates him for this
- She has always wanted to travel the world and take amazing pictures

* A quote about Brooke:
- "Illuminations. The biggest action sports photography competition in the world, and I was counting on getting my winning photo through the work at Wild. I only have until March to submit. Just over three months to take the most important shot of my career."

Story Thoughts:
- Told only from female POV and I’m not a fan of one POV because I like to know both sides of the story.
- And because of above 👆, I didn’t know Chase well. I spent half the book wondering if he was just an asshole or if he had other issues going on that made him act like a jerk.
- And, because of above 🖕🖕 (Chase was a jerk and I didn't have his POV) it was rather hard to glean any attraction on his behalf. Therefore, I felt the chemistry was lacking and I had a hard time shifting from him pushing her away to him not being able to keep his hands off her.
- On the other hand, Brooke was fully into Chase and her attraction was obvious. Although, was it because she had his poster above her bed as a young girl and was finally meeting her teenage crush??.....because it certainly wasn't due to his winning personality. 😏
- The sister thing and the dad thing needed more development.
- Some cliche' moments
- Once the H/h got together the insecurities (does he really like me) and lack of communication was frustrating. By the time they said I Love You Brooke still seemed to question what that meant for their future. Chase was 34 and "should" have been more mature. If I had known his thoughts maybe I would have known he was all in. But all I got was Brooke's, and her age/immaturity seemed to constantly question their commitment to each other. This was frustrating.
- I liked the big "tragedy" moment but I thought Chase was selfish by staying away. He needed a bigger apology to both JJ (which we don't get read about) and Brooke.
- The writing was good. A few typos and grammar things, but nothing that was too distracting.
- I loved all the snowboarding action.

Overview:
- POV: female POV only
- H likable? He grew on me. I did end up liking him
- h likable? She started out strong, but somewhere along the way became a bit insecure. I still liked her, but didn't love her.
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 35%
- First time they sleep together: 46%
- First time they say I Love You 83%
- steamy? Yes
- OW/OM drama? Not really. Brooke's ex is brought up a few times to support her reasons for her baggage, but he never made an appearance. Also, it is "suggested" that Chase is a bit of a playboy but that never showed up on page
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? A little bit
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? Yes. Chase had some family issues but he isn't the one who reveals the truth to her. Brooke finds out initially from two of Chase's snowboard buddies
- Did I cry? No
- Did I laugh? No
- Did I swoon 🥰? No
- Cliffhanger? No
- HEA? HFN
- Epilogue? yes
- Recommend? it was ok. But, could have been better if it was dual POV

Quotes
"Just because some asshole did you a favor and got out of your life doesn’t mean you have to let your vagina grow cobwebs."

"How come when we don’t open our mouths we have such a good time together, and as soon as we speak something goes wrong?"

"The brutal reality is that we ride—that the people I love ride—and we accept the unthinkable risks, and we keep going."

"What if we are just selfish idiots, blowing our chances at a happy, normal life for a few hits of adrenaline?"

"Everything worthwhile has risks."

“The mountains don’t frighten me. Death doesn’t frighten me. But you fucking terrify me, Brooke Larson."

WOW!!! Thanks to Roxie, my bestie at Schmexy Girl Book Blog, I am thrilled to say this book was AMAZEBALLS. The writing, the angst, the characters, ALL OF IT. She insisted I drop everything and read Ride by Harper Dallas and OHMYGOD, it's everything I look for in a book. Wrecked and not able to read anything for days after I finished, I FLOVED it. God, this is the kinda book I spend hours searching for, so I'm so grateful for the recommendation. I need more of these characters and I can't wait for Ms. Dallas to deliver. FIVE MIND BLOWN STARS!!

Simplesmente amei.

This is a well thought out debut that kept me on the edge of my seat. Broken hero trope (my fave) with a strong heroine, it's both swoony and angsty and not overly emotional. I'm not usually one for a sports romance, but turns out I can read about snowboarders all day long (and all night, apparently). And the new cover is gorgeous!

Overall Opinion: I think this sadly was yet another where my expectations got to me. My GR friends mostly really liked this, but sadly it was a little less than “just okay” 3 stars for me. I didn’t necessarily like either character. I thought they both were emotionally stunted and in a bad way. They sucked at communicating and held things against others internally — which is one of my pet peeves. I also feel like it was a huge error in not having the H’s POV (until the epilogue). He wasn’t all that likable and with not ever having a way to understand him, it was a big loss. I also was really bugged by how the H became even mushy towards the end which was entirely out of his previous character. The ending also was meh. Bummed, because I’m back in the minority here.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Brooke and Chase’s story. Brooke was just told she’s not getting the job of her dreams and has separated from her boyfriend when she gets invited to go snowboarding in Sweden with her best friend. She takes along her photography gear in hopes of getting some action shots on the slopes to enter to a prestigious extreme sport photography competition. She doesn’t expect to meet Chase, her celebrity crush, at the airport and to end up working with him and his crew. They butt heads at first, but end up having a casual relationship where feelings start to develop. There is some heavy personal baggage they both have to work through, some sexy times, and a suspenseful scene…and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This was told in Brooke’s POV except the epilogue is in Chase’s.

Overall Pace of Story: Alright. It felt slow at times even though I never skimmed.

Instalove: No, they take a while to develop stronger feelings. More like hate > friends with benefits > more

H (Hero) rating: 2.5 stars. Chase. He was hard to relate to. I get that he was supposed to be that grumpy, secretive, borderline bullying type of H — but his 360 to saying all this mushy stuff wasn’t all that believable and left me confused in the end tbh.

h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Brooke. She was alright. A little too cold and shut off for my liking.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No, other than the H getting approached by fans

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends with an epilogue in the H’s POV (finally!) and what I would call a HFN ending. I was pretty over it at this point so while I would typically say something about the lack of closure, I honestly was just done enough to care 🤷🏻‍♀️

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

Wasn't impressed with the beginning, then I started liking it, then I started really liking it, then I was LOVING IT, then I got confused and annoyed, then I was like, oh.

The writing had some really awkward parts (typos, weird grammar, etc.), but overall it wasn't too bad. And it also had some really amazing moments -- there were some fantastic, dramatic angsty and emotional scenes and I loooooved them.

And I LOVED reading about all the snowboarding stuff. I want to learn to do the snowboards!

3.5 stars

Book: Ride

Author: Harper Dallas

Chatty romance book thoughts:
This book was my ultimate kryptonite - delicious slow burn, perfectly placed steamy teasing, a moody broody hero with a heart of gold and a heroine who knows her own mind all wrapped up in a fantastically plotted, sports themed romance - winning. Thankfully, I recently stumbled across this book on my Instagram feed and after seeing a trusted fellow reviewer had fallen in love with this story I was more than a little curious. And boy did it smash my expectations - ‘new to me’ author Harper Dallas has made me sit up and take notice of her writing talent and these characters did nothing more than demand that I fall in love with them. My recommendation - read it.

I borrowed this on ku ages ago after my friend recommended it and it's been sitting on my kindle unread ever since. I hate to think of all of the pants reads I've suffered through when this little piece of utter brilliance was just a click away.

It had a plot, feels (oh, so many feels), hot smut, dirty talk, a swoony hero, a feisty female and even proper character development.

I thought this was an outstanding read. Complete story and available on ku. Highly recommended.

First I'd like to thank my GR friends, Bibi, P. Angelico and Jennifer T. for putting this on my GR feed. I absolutely loved this story and can't wait to read more by this author. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!!!!! 😘

Chase was the ultimate broody, asshole hero and I loved him. Once the reasons for his actions and attitude came to light, I fell for the big jerk and hard. Were his actions and behavior justified, no, but understandable. My favorite characters are ones with the most flaws and Chase fit the bill.

As a heroine, Brooke was as solid as they come. She refused to be intimidated by the most famous group of snowboarders on the planet, especially Chase, and went after her dream with gusto.

One of my GR friends pointed out that Harper Dallas does an excellent job of making you invested in the sport (if you aren't familiar) without the tedium of every minute detail of the moves/jumps they are performing. Bravo.

I am looking forward to reading more from this new author and hopefully her next book is Raquel and JJ's story. PLEEEEEESSSSSEEEE!!!!!

4.5. Loved it. This author clearly has a profound love of extreme snowboarding and conveyed her knowledge brilliantly without bogging the story down with a lot of clumsy info dumping. This is how sports romance should be written. If you like a grumpy, tarnished hero give this book a shot. I can't wait for the next one!

Amei.
Muito.

I thought i ll love this book, i really did until the characters started to show their true side which is ofc is the annoying side. This book is about Brooke who is a photographer and she meets her teenage crush/idol Chase who is a famous snowboarder. He wants to fuck her and she wants to take his pic. Chase doesnt do emotions cuz all he can do is stand in a corner with his muscles like a confused idiot. Seriously there are heros who are grumpy, they dont show emotions and when they do in front of the heroine, they try to hide it, now chase thinks he falls in that category but he actually doesnt. He falls in the annoying as fuck hero category. I seriously don’t understand him, i feel like he needs psychiatrist cuz his mood changes more than i dnf books ( which is a lot). Brooke on the other hand was bland, i dont event know what to say about her cuz i feel like her camera has more personality than her. They both are just....weird. They have no chemistry what so ever, i dont know what brooke saw in Chase, maybe its the useless muscles cuz their sex scene aint even hot neither is he. Its just bland, boring. Period. Chase is whiny, brooke is worse and her friend alex, i dont get it, brooke didnt want to fuck Chase then why the fuck was Alex forcing her to fuck That whiny kid. Ugh i couldnt finish it.

Ride was Harper Dallas’ debut novel in 2018. It was written as a standalone and the first book in the Wild Sequence series featuring the False Kings snowboarding crew. I don’t know how I missed the release early on of this compelling and well-written sports-related romance – and certainly don’t understand why there wasn’t more hype surrounding its release.

Brooke Larson, an up-and-coming photojournalist and Chase Austin, world famous and top-rated snowboarder are the lead characters. Both are strong and driven, full of passion and life. Brooke has her eye on Chase for some award-winning photos to help further her career. Getting him to agree isn't going to be easy -- even though Chase finds her tempting on another level.

Chase is a multi-dimensional character who fits the mold for the perfect broken hero. He’s often angry and brooding, but caring and generous, as well. He is carrying around secrets, loss, guilt and shame that leaves a void inside him yet to be filled. Plenty of women have been in and out of his life -- but he doesn’t do “serious.”

Brooke has had her heart broken through the years. She has also seen hard times and experienced disappointment, but works hard to attain her goals for a better life. Her father left her mother when Brooke was just a young child and never established contact with his daughter. She hasn’t had much luck in her relationships with any man – except for her grandfather. But there’s something about Chase Austin that makes her want more.

The brewing storm between Brooke and Chase quickly drew me in and consumed my attention from start to finish. When tragedy strikes, the scales begin to tip towards something deeper and more meaningful. The answers to long-held secrets begin to surface.

This story is told from Brooke’s point of view, except for a sweet and tender Epilogue from Chase. Casting was exceptional with a diverse group of exciting and engaging characters that make up the rest of the team. Each time these boarders hit the snow-covered slopes around the globe, I held my breath during the intensity of extreme sporting exhibits.

In the end, I was begging for more. The author provided a few hints and teases for what might be expected in future books for JJ, Hanne and Hunter. And hopefully, updates on Brooke and Chase will be included as the stories of the False Kings continue.

One of the best sports-related romance books I’ve read. And I’m a major fan of this sub-genre – although mostly baseball and football. Such a pleasant and welcomed change.
