Sin with Me #2

Sin With Me: Penance

Rate this book
**This book is part two of a series. It is recommended you first read book one, Sin with Me.**

You've heard her story. Now, here's mine.

Who knew the destruction of a bullet followed by the voice of an angel would change everything? I was broken when Makenna appeared out of nowhere, offering to put me back together. That night, I lost my soul but found my heart. Little did I know, I'd spend the next seven years doing what I vowed I never would. But it has to be this way. It's the only way to keep her safe. The sins of the father passed down to the son.

I watch Makenna, but always from the shadows. I protect her from dangers she'll never know. And I love her, but only from a distance. Until finally, she finds a way in. Until the angel falls in love with the devil. Then all hell breaks loose...

I adore when authors are able to give us a differing view on the same story. There is always something new, something unveiled and exceptionally wonderful that we didn't get to see or experience or feel the first go around. With Sin With Me: Penance readers don't really experience the same level of heartbreak. We're more like voyeurs looking in on the things we cannot change. We get more answers to certain questions. We see things differently, more clearly.

That doesn't mean the story is any less, it's simply unique, angsty and dark, just from our mysterious hero's view point. We still get the same exuberant feelings of loss, love and lust, there's just something sweeter to it all when we see the driving force for why.

It's another truly exceptional book from one of my favourite authors.

HOLY MOTHER OF BOOK LOVERS!!!
First of all can I just say, once I started reading this book usually I wait to go to the bathroom until it's almost too late but for the first time ever I took my Kindle to the bathroom with me and to the kitchen while I cooked dinner and carried it with me while I let the dog out. Lol! So you get the picture. Lmbo! I was so engrossed in this story I couldn't put it down for a minute. And WOW! The cover of this book is sexy as hell with the gorgeous Alfie Gordillo on it. Throughout the whole book picturing Alfie as Callisto in my mind made it that much more exciting and sexy. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT! Sin with Me was an amazing roller coaster ride of emotions and I loved every minute of it. Now to have Sin with Me: Penance and reading everything from Callisto's pov puts a whole new spin on everything. I cried just as hard when Makenna was losing Reid like it was happening all over again but this time I felt like I was an intruder. And we got a lot more insight into his mothers murder. My heart was breaking and I cried even harder. My favorite line in the book is, "He's naked. With a GLOCK. I can't decide if I find that sexy or scary as shit." Lmbo! I was laughing so hard picturing it in my mind. Reading the love scenes through Cal's eyes made it even hotter because he's this big bad ass Mafioso but when he's with Makenna he's a big S.A.F. alpha male with a gentle touch and when they start taking their clothes off it's like Makenna becomes a different person too. She becomes this confident sexual sassy little spitfire. Together they set the room on fire! And I abso-freakin-lutely love the ending. The single red rose in the empty seat for his mother, tore me up. I was hiccuping I was crying so hard. I EXTREMELY recommend this book to everyone!! Be sure to read Sin with Me first. Thanks Delaney from one Diva to another. Much love to you.

Just as gripping and intense as book one, my heart ached for Cal, he was such a good guy despite his job. He loved so deep but protected with everything he had inside, determined that Makenna would be happy even if at first it wasn't with himself. An emotional roller coaster of a read and I spent most of it with a lump in my throat. There is suspense, drama and some violence as pertains to the plot but mostly this is about second chances and love, one that is worth waiting for. I am very thankful for the gift of this story and am really happy to reccomend this to anyone that likes a slightly dark edgy story with a HEA. Some readers might think. But haven't we already read this story ? Well yes to some degree is the answer but there is so much more, this is Cal's point of view. It's his life and what happened from the very beginning, why he behaved / reacted / said what he did. It fills in the blanks and gaps and explains his darkness and pain, don't skip it because it isn't the same story at all....

She is the light that breaks through his darkness

Cal and Mackenna are perfect for each other. She is light, innocent, pure of heart. He is dark, dangerous, and has lots of secrets. I loved reading this story from Cal's point of view. How he sees her when she thinks no one can see past her smile. She sees him, the man behind the tough exterior he shows the world. I already loved Sin With Me, but seeing things from his prospective puts the cherry on top. I can't wait for Salvation to come out!!

The pieces of the mysterious man of Callisto are finally revealed. Little by little we learn how Callisto became the man that he is today. My heart ached for him at times and I even held my breathe a few times. The journey of Makenna and Callisto was an emotional ride with lots of ups and downs. I loved reading Cal’s side of the story and finally understanding why the things that happened during Sin With Me happened.

Let me just say that Penance locked in every reason for me on why I fell in love with Callisto before. Delaney Foster 5 stars all the way!!!!

I loved this book! This is the second book in the series, but you'll want to read the first book before diving in.

Sin With Me: Penance, is told from Callisto's POV. It was such a treat to be able to peak behind the curtain, and understand more to this mysterious, enigmatic man we met in book one. Cal is strong, has such a good heart, and is just as sexy, if not more so. The interactions between, and around, him and Makenna, felt like more, having both sides of the story. Check this one out, if you want a peak inside at what makes him tick. I highly recommend.

This book was Callisto’s story. Who knew you could love someone that long? And yet he stayed in the shadows, watching, waiting and protecting. He may see himself as dark and broken.....but he really isn’t. He’s perfect, his dark to her light
McKenna made a reference to the darkness letting the light in, she couldn’t have been more right. Without darkness there is no light and vice versa. They compliment and belong together

This is the second book in the Sin with Me Series and I absolutely loved it! I loved Callisto and this book tells the story in his POV and I loved reading Cal’s side of the story. I fell more in love with Cal in this story. I loved the chemistry between Makenna and Cal and from the first page I was pulled into their story. Makenna and Cal’s story was an emotional rollercoaster ride and one I highly recommend.

Book 2 of Sin with Me written from Cal’s POV

I really like this author’s choice to write from the POV of Cal. The first book almost broke me in terms of the bitter sweet storyline which had to sacrifice a character to save the love Cal has for Maks. Sin with Me: Penance gives us the chance to see inside Cal’s deeply loyal and heartfelt love for Maks by showing us the absolute restraint required of him to be the perfect man worthy of Maks. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was a needed follow up to Sin with Me, which was McKenna’s story. I like how this shows Cal’s backstory and how he changes over time, including his relationship with his dad. I would recommend reading this after Sin with Me since there are things that happen in that book that have a huge emotional toll but is brought up in this story.

Delaney Foster has me hooked!

Loved this series! I read both books in two days!!! I loved seeing everything from Cal’s POV! This was my first mafia romance and it was delicious. I’m not ready to say goodbye to Cal and Makenna, though!!! This was a great, easy and enjoyable read!! Highly recommend!

NOT A STAND-ALONE! Needs to be combined with 1st part

Sin with me was written from Makenna’s POV and Sin with me: Penance is from Callisto’s POV. The only way this story makes any sense is if it is read after the first. In reality, the two NEED TO BE MERGED TOGETHER. There are just too many scenarios and details missed without any recaps in this version. If the two were combined it would greatly improve both and I think it could be a wonderful series that could be expanded to include stories about Jaxon and Brynn.

⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, spanking for pleasure, etc.; violence stereotypical of the genre such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting, betrayal, coercion, blackmail, threats, subterfuge, money laundering, gun running, cheating, prostitution, gambling, human trafficking, mafia / cartels, drug use, drug manufacturing, drug distribution, as well as the mental, physical and sexual abuse of females, etc.

** Caution: Contains scenes with reference to, or detailed graphic violence against females that fit into the storyline, but may be a trigger for some **

There are a few grammatical issues, more so as the story continues especially towards the end. These were primarily comprised of incorrect word choice, duplicate words, punctuation issues, missed words, and extra inserted words. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

I absolutely loved Sin with Me part 1. When I saw Penance: Sin with Me part 2 was the story told from Cal’s POV I thought to myself, there is no way this book could top Part 1 (which was told from Makenna’s POV). OMG did the author ever shock me. Cal’s story is one of power, determination, vengeance, need, lust and want (I mean what more could a reader ask for). Cal never wanted to be a part of his father/family's world. But the day he is forced to watch helplessly as his world as he's known it crashes around him because his father is who he is, Cal's fate is sealed. Never again will he feel helpless. Cal becomes what he was always destined to be in the Suppato Family, he becomes what people fear in the dark. The one spark of light in his life is the Angel (Makenna) that asked him if he was ok on that fateful night. An Angel that he will never forget and can never let into his world. But he can watch over her and make sure she is safe.

This is a powerfully written storyline that made me fall in love with Cal even more that book 1 did. The author let us see into Cal’s heart and soul. I felt his torment, heartbreak and all encompassing need to keep Makenna safe. I saw Cal's growth, maturity, and power as his life unfolded before my very eyes.

The story from Cal's POV is thrilling, exciting and a total must read (However I STRONGLY suggest reading Sin With Me #1 first). This duet is simply stunning. One of the best duets I have read in several years. Kudos to the author for a phenomenal read. 2 thumbs up and 5 outstanding stars for Penance, book 2 of what I feel is a 10+ star duet.

Absolutely outstanding read! Cal's life is all mapped out. He has a plan on what his future will be and it will not be they life of his father's! But as in life, the best laid plans and all, things take a dark turn when tragedy strikes right before his eyes. Sickened by the loss he just witnessed, he walks out a back door and is greeted by an angel moments later. She's beautiful, innocent and pure; and she will be his. But first.....

Makenna is all that is good in the world. She has her own life, a love in her life and a bright and fulfilling future to look forward to. He watches her, keeping her safe from afar. But when one wrong move, one wrong place and time takes away part of her future, Cal is more determined than ever to make sure that nothing or no one ever makes her hurt like this again, including himself. But some promises are harder to keep than others and as the years go on, Cal finds that it is harder than ever to keep himself away from his angel. But she's not ready. He wants her to his, but only when all thoughts of him are no longer in her mind. And when she is ready, the two of them sizzle on the pages, paint melts from the walls and the heat is as intense as a hot August day in Louisiana!

I loved these characters and everything about them. Makenna is not slouch. She is strong, brave and just as sweet as Cal describes her. She isn't afraid to speak up to him. Their love is so apparent that it is seen even before they acknowledge it themselves. An amazing read and I highly recommend this book!.

I needed this POV like I've never needed the other characters POV before. This was like...the icing on the cake, the cherry on the sundae, the chocolate on your strawberry...you follow me?
It was the perfect conclusion to this love story. It was just long enough to give you all of the information you selfishly wanted that was left out of the first book. This gave you the chance to really understand Cal. And even though I was 100% in book lust with him after the first book, this made me fall 100% in book love with him! And the best part....it gave me the extended HEA I wanted to much from book one. This author guys....she DELIVERS.....EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. If you haven't jumped on the Delaney bandwagon, I don't know what you are doing with your life and I'm pretty sure we can't be friends. Ok, I'm kidding. Maybe.
You should absolutely read these two books.....I promise you will love Cal just as much as everyone else who has read this book. And you will love Delaney too.

I read Penance not long after after I read Sin With Me. I loved Callisto in Sin With Me and this book tells that story from his POV. I really enjoyed getting to know this man better and loved that I was able to see how he developed into who he was prior to meeting Makenna. I would recommend reading Sin With Me first because then you get Makenna’a POV and when you read Penance you fill in all the blanks. You have this knowledge of how Makenna felt and knowing that made Penance that much better! Definitely recommend both of these books!

I already was in mad love with Cal Suppato, but after reading this, I am more in love with him! I loved getting inside his head and hearing his story! What he went through broke my heart and I could feel his sense for revenge. I also loved seeing his interaction with Makenna, from the first time he sees her to getting more involved with her. I loved hearing him talk to his mom in spirit, truly those were beautiful moments. Delaney writes so powerful and so beautiful! Bravo!

I was pulled in this story with the first book. The main characters have a chemistry from the very start but they both go through a lot as well as have their own demons. Can they work through it all to get the HEA??

Cal's point of view, in Penance, is just as hot and emotional as book 1 of this series. Maybe more so, since he had to grow up really fast and knows the dangers they can find themselves in but sometimes love wants it way and good golly did it get it. Loved it😍🔥😍🔥😍🔥

Wow!!! Delaney knocked it out of the park again on Sin with Me:Penance!! You definitely need to read Sin with Me first because Penance is Callisto's side of the story....and....oh what a story it is. I couldn't wait to read this one after reading Sin with Me and falling in love with both Makenna and Callisto. This book shows us all the dark and beautiful sides of Callisto that were only touched on in the first book. We see the dark night that changed his life forever and what drew him into the dark world he lived in but we also see that he has a conscience and will protect those that he loves at all costs. I loved reading Callisto's POV about Makenna and his love for her that he tried so hard to deny. Delaney pulls you into the story from the very beginning and you feel every emotion and feeling that Callisto feels. In one such scene in the book, Callisto thinks to himself "She is a storm. And I have spent too much time on the horizon, waiting for the rain to fall. Now it's pouring and there's no way out. Here I am, standing in the eye of the storm." Love, love, love it!! And the sexual tension between Callisto and Makenna?!!! Wow!! Delaney kept the sexual tension going the entire book, keeping me on the edge of my seat and waiting, waiting, waiting for it to happen!! This story is such a well developed story that left me hot and bothered and it's left me wanting more of Callisto and Makenna.

This story could be read as a standalone, BUTTTTT, for the best understanding and appreciation for this story you must read Sin With Me: Sacrifice #1, Sin With Me: Contrition #2, and Sin With Me: Redemption #3, first. In this story as Cal tells his point of view, he kinda glosses over some events, like you already know. But then also shares what was previously glossed over.
This is the book where we learn more about the thoughts and actions of Cal. What his upbringing was like and what makes him tick. Although Cal can be scary, at the least, I loved his strength, his ability to display a poker face at tough times, his protectiveness and his love and allegiance to family. I'm sure these are all the qualities that drew Makenna to him and made such a great addition to this series. This story left me feeling full, a completeness, a happiness and fuller understanding. This is a series that will stay with me!
