She’s his wet dream. Too bad he’s going to marry another…
I’m Samantha Kent--owner of a house that I share with four roomies. Luck hasn’t been on my side lately with a ruined car, a novel that isn’t selling, and no money in my pockets. All in all, the worst timing for Mother Nature to hit West Palm Beach with the storm of the century and destroy my beautiful garden.
Then Matthew shows up. Sex on a stick and a farm boy to boot. The perfect inspiration for my next bestseller. Only he’s off limits because he’s dating my neighbor, of course.
Fine by me. I’ll keep him as my dirty little fantasy. One that quickly becomes my worst nightmare when he barges into my room unannounced and catches me with my hands down my pants.
The way I see it, I’ve got two options. One, I’ll marry the guy—or two, I’ll die of humiliation. Right now, I think it’s going to be the latter…
If you love sweet romances with sizzling hot scenes, the series starter HIRE ME in The Heed Me Novellas will leave you panting for more!
Elodie Colt is a USA Today bestselling Paranormal & Contemporary Romance author from Austria. When she’s not busy writing books that go beyond run-of-the-mill alpha stories, she spends her time binge-watching the latest Hollywood blockbuster, playing the guitar, or hitting the gym. The fact that German is her mother tongue didn't keep her from giving her dream to publish in English a chance. Whatever she writes, she has one goal - to make you cry, laugh and wet at the same time ;)
I received an eARC of Hire Me for an honest review.
I just want to say that I thought that I was in a reading slump because I didn't seem to be able to read a short book for a week...and then I started this one and read it in a few hours. It is a novella and it is short but still it got me through my reading difficulties of the week and I am grateful.
Every time I start an Elodie Colt book I have really high expectations and I haven't been disappointed so far. And I'm glad.
I love Elodie's writing and the way she uses the words especially since she is not a native and I know how hard it is to write in a foreign language. Yet, she uses her words so beautifully and so well that I can't help but love everything she writes. When I first read something by her (In Blood We Trust) I was so mesmerised by her writing that I couldn't believe that English wasn't her mother tongue. But enough about foreigners. Real talent knows no boundaries. (Am I over exaggerating? I don't even know anymore.)
I don't usually like novellas because they are too short for me to fully enjoy them. I want more time with the characters and just more of the author's writing but I made an exception because...well, I already expressed my love for her writing, didn't I? I wasn't disappointed. Oh. I. Was. Not.
The story is so well developed that I was fully engaged in it. In fact, I was so swallowed up by Hire Me that I didn't even notice the present tense it is written in until I reached a possible plot hole situation. There are no plot holes as usual (#NotSurprising). It's needless to say that I loved this novella so I will just say a few words about the characters.
Sam is an indie author whose first book doesn't sell as good as she'd want it to and a storm kind of ruins her garden and car. I could relate so much to her that it was actually pretty surprising! I think this is the main reason I loved her character so much and the fact that she lived in a house with her friends. I loved the way Elodie has made her and I enjoyed reading her POVs.
Matthew (is a really hard name to write) is an awesome character as well. I didn't only like his appearance but the way he behaved around Sam and her friends. They instantly clicked, so to speak, and every time Sam's friends interrupted them it was like it's always been like that. This is something I loved about them all.
Although the way they met isn't the best of occasions (him being taken) I loved how they got closer and how they tried not to...make a mistake they'd both regret. Even though Hire Me is a pretty short novella ( that I totally loved!) it's story is completely developed in my opinion as is their relationship. The more you read, the better you see how suitable they are for each other and I am just a sucker for good book/novella of this kind.
I don't even know how I gathered so many words to express how much I liked Hire Me. I don't know how to end this review so I will just say that it is full of everything you could want from this novella and more!
If you're looking for a book that will leave you wanting more, then look no further then Hire Me by Elodie Colt. I just finished it and I honestly couldn't put it down, I read it in under two hours because I just got so sucked in!!! I need the next one SOON!!!! Hire Me is super sexy, steamy, sweet, honest, beautiful and emotional at times, all the ups and downs are the best part and the story and you should all go and READ IT, trust me you WON'T REGRET IT!!!!
Elodie girl why do you always do this to me, I'm seriously fangirling I honestly have no idea how you do it but I want to say thank you for doing it. i love you so much girl!
One thing I love and have noticed with all of your books is you create the most powerful female lead characters, ones who aren't afraid to bend the rules, take a different direction, do what they believe is right. I first noticed this when I read your first book in blood We Trust. She is so powerful, so resourceful, I honestly don't know how you do it. I also noticed it with your Jailer series, I honestly have a new favorite Series. Jailer is honestly in my top 5 favorite books. You've done it again, you have woven a story that entrapped me into the book. Now without further ado let's get onto the review.
So we have Samantha she's one tough son of a b****, and I think that's why I instantly fell in love with her. Then you gave me Matthew and all my Lord he is one big massive plate of OHHH YESS! I'm seriously fangirling.
I don't want to put out too much of the story because honestly people need to read this and one thing I hate is when I read a review and they literally tell me what is happening in the book I mean yes I like it but I also want to figure it out for myself. That being said I will not disclose key crucial events that have happened
Samantha is a author, that's trying to get out books to make a living. I like how when she meets matthew she doesn't tell him she's an author instead tells him she's a editor, There's a big reasoning for this LOL
“Like you want to bend me over that table and do things to me you shouldn’t wish for.”
So matthew, here's a question for you, do you still think samanthas the sweet innocent girl next door? LOLOLOLOL God samantha is one sassy son of a bitch! but she does it with eaze, the flirtation between the two of them is so Massive! When matthew find out her " little secret" i was laughing and shaking my head from excitement. I was listening to Come want me by moulin rouge, ill add a link and at the end of the story i was sobbing... with the music and with the events that happen just tore me up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UD76... ( thats the song) i recommend listening to the lyrics and you will understand why.
I received a copy of Hire Me in exchange for an honest review.
Omg first to say it's I love it! This book really surprised me, When I thought I knew what was going to happen next I receive a "no no, you don't have any idea" especially on the hot scenes. I was laughing most of the time, more when he dare her to a sassy thing and when he find out her secret. Matthew sexy Matthew, I was like what else you need to realize that she is the woman of your life?!
I Couldn't put more on my review because I don't want to spoiler about the story. So to the future readers, I recommende this book to you if you are looking for a sexy and funny story. I really like Elodie's writing style, and definetly she'll become an author to follow.
Elodie Colt’s delightful novella Hire Me shows even adults aren’t above behaving like teenagers when it comes to love.
Samantha Kent and Matthew Miller star as the main characters in your typical boy/girl-next-door story; though apparent they’ll fall for each other, readers will follow along willfully until the awaited moment happens. The four roommates provide a funny supporting cast, and the flip between points of view provides an entertaining read. The erotic scenes fluttered throughout add the “orange” on top; Colt connected a key factor of the story to the genre and did it gracefully, not overdoing the erotic so the reader feels ashamed reading it, but also thoroughly enough so the reader can feel a bit of heat crawling up their cheeks themselves.
A perfect love story for teenagers, older women, and lovers of erotica alike.
Hire Me: it was a fantastic story Hot men tough woman! I loved how it was written. It was very hot hot hot! I loved how each roommate was totally different but we're willing to help each other. I loved that they lived on the beach. I loved that Matt was turned on by Sam but knew it was wrong. He was just a true blooded American I loved that how this story.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily offering my honest review.
This story I read in one day, I was so into it! It wasn't the usual kind of book that I read but it was really refreshing. What intrigued me, in addition to the great storyline, was the author's ability to write in first person, from two different points of view. I do not remember ever having seen such a thing, but it worked, and the author did it well. The two points of view added so much to the storyline by allowing the reader to feel what both people were feeling, even though it wasn't in the usual third person. Great stuff for both the story line and the writing itself!
The story itself is a blend of sexiness, fun, seriousness and a good tale of friendships. There is some explicit language in it, in sex scenes, but nothing drastic unless you really don't like swearing and explicit language with regards to body parts! But overall, it's a great read. Awesome writing. Strong story. Fantastic.

Everything changes when Matthew barges into my room and catches me fantasizing about him with my hands down my pants, leaving me wishing for a hole to open up and swallow me. Will I ever catch a break, or am I determined to live the rest of my life poor, lonely, and humiliated?

Inreceived an advanced copy of Hire Me for an honest review. Samantha Kent is a lonely inspiring and struggling author living with four roomates. She has the worst luck. After a hurricane destroys everything she own. She is beyond herself. Samantha spots Matthew Miller working in her neighbors backyard, there is an instant connection. But Matthew is a forbidden fruit. He is dating her neighbor. Matthew has offered to help Samantha and agrees to review her book. Will the attraction they have for each other lead to a future and a change of luck for Samantha? I love the characters and the plot is well written. I'm a sucker for a good romance. I would recommend this book to all my friends
This is the first book I've read by Elodie and I loved it! Samantha has the worst luck but has a awesome go with the flow attitude. This is a slow passionate love story with a friendship. Hope this book continues as a series with stories on her roommates!
Okay, so before I start my review, I of course have to say thank you to Elodie Colt. I am honored to have had the opportunity to read and review your book before it's release. As mentioned earlier, you have a fan forever!
Now to my review!
Hire Me is amazing! It starts off with Samantha who seems to have the worst of luck. I mean, all she wants to do is write and make money, but life is not trying to hear it. I guess the storm that hits her house is a bad and good thing, bad because it ruins her car and yard, but good because it introduces her to sexy as hell Matthew.
Matthew came to town to help his girlfriend's mother out around the house. You know, fix what's broken, tend to the yard, that sort of thing. What he wasn't expecting was the spitfire next door. When he sees that Sam needs help, he jumps at the chance to offer it up, because it's neighborly and all that jazz.
I'm sure neither of them was expecting the instant connection they seem to have to one another, but who's complaining right?
I loved this book because it wasn't just amazing, but it was also fun to read. The characters had their serious moments, but mostly they had this lightness about them that made you want to be friends with them.
I loved that Sam and Matthew had this chemistry that neither of them were prepared for but they didn't care to stop it either. I appreciated that part of the story because it was honest. Of course their actions were wrong on some level, but when you know, you just know. Hurt feelings be damned.
Hire Me was short, but most definitely sweet. It's straight to the point and certainly leaves you satisfied. If you are looking for a fun read, that will make you laugh, this is the book for you. It also makes you wish you had a sexy neighbor ready to rescue you and your "gardening" needs, but I guess, we'll just fantasize for now.
I received this book as an ARC. I decided to voluntarily leave a review. This is my honest review. Oh gosh where do I start.... I loved this book from the start it pulls you in without you realising it and by the time you look up you've nearly finished and the day had gone! It's a true romance with added spice. I cried and laughed whilst reading it and was constantly asked if I was okay! You don't expect a lot of the things that happen especially the hot scenes that start off as Samantha's fantasies for the books she writes. It's a great story that has everything you'd want in a book, although I would say it's very explicit in parts which in my view adds to it but it might not be to some people's liking. The story flows from the start and is an easy read, Elodie is a very descriptive writer so its easy to imagine who is who and what they look like. I love Elodie's writing style and is defiantly an up and coming author to follow. I'd recommend the book to anyone that likes an erotic love story
However, if you have a character, like Matt, who seems decent, mostly honest, and as if he's struggling with some personal choices, it is a bit different. Sam is sweet and a bit misguided, but you want them to find their way and I think that equals some good writing. Even if they don't find their way together, you want them to get some happiness. I obviously won't give too much away, but I did enjoy the sexual tension, and was happy with the ending.
One thing I have to say I struggled with was Sam's friends. I expect they may get their own books in time, but I only found myself liking Leo, and their constant intrusion in Sam and Matt's business got a little tiring. However, it didn't make me like the book any less, and I expect some people who have those kinds of girlfriends might enjoy the funny moments.
Hire Me is my first book by Elodie Colt, so I didn't know what to expect. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Colt has delivered a book that is well-written. The characters are entertaining and lovable. Samantha is an author. Matthew is an orchard owner helping Samantha's neighbor with her garden...and his girlfriend is Samantha's neighbor's daughter. Samantha and Mathew's story is loaded with drama, humor and smoking hot sex. Hire Me is a fun book to read and I enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more from Elodie Colt in the future. Hire Me is book 1 of the Heed Me Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Instafreebie.
I received an advance copy of Hire Me (The Heed Me Novellas Book 1) in exchange for an honest and voluntary review, which I'm very happy to supply. I found Hire Me to be easy to "get into". I was caught up in the story right away. There wasn't any of that feeling of "well, let me just keep reading, and maybe the story will improve and grab my attention" - the way you get with some books. I was interested from page 1. I enjoyed the characters; their personalities were well developed and deftly conveyed. I also enjoyed the story line, and the length of the book was just perfect for me, as I actually prefer novellas. Hire Me was sexy, and the perfect read for a weekend afternoon. I will definitely always read anything new from Elodie Colt, who I feel is a talented and promising young author.
I liked this book. The writing is descriptive and well written. The characters flawed but they journey towards a HEA. I don't particularly like the H/h actions but again the reader is making this journey with the characters as they muddle through the messes they make. You know the characters are developed when the reader loves or hates the characters. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Steamy fun read. It captivated my full attention. Very entertaining. I want to read more. Wonderfully written with great plot and strong characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is a well written book with strong characters and an interesting story line. The author does a great job developing the story and moving it quickly and smoothly. She gives Samantha and Matthew a hot sizzling chemistry , adds enough supporting characters to help bring the story around and delivers an entertaining book I enjoyed reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
One word....Matthew! This book was really good and Matthew was HOTT! I like how there was comedy and embarrassingly real stuff in this book. Its definitely a cute/hot love story. On to book 2!
Undeniably hot neighborly attraction, real and right.
I received an Advance Reader Copy for Hire Me written by Elodie Colt and voluntarily reviewed this book. Samantha Kent could really use a good tipping of luck onto her lap right about now. She is a struggling Indie author with a house full of girls...and she has had no man in sight for a few very long and lonely months. And that is merely one of the items on her "Karma-is-SO-working-against-me-right-now" list. Sam meets her next-door neighbor's boyfriend, Matthew Miller, while he was working on their yard, and she can't help but be drawn to him. In fact, Matthew becomes her much-welcome muse and the subject of her fantasies. As he gets to know her by offering his help after a sudden and destructive storm, Matthew is forced to take a good look at his relationship with his girlfriend, while staying right next door meanwhile. I love this novella about two souls who fight against the forces of what is simply meant to be. Well written and a pleasure to read!
My rating is 3.5 stars. I enjoyed this, for the most part. It was well-written, the terms used were researched properly. The characters were interesting and original. The sex scenes were written just right and they were pretty arousing hahaha. I just thought the romance progressed a little too fast, but considering it was a novella, I suppose it was apt. I also didn't really like the way Matthew talked about Sam at certain parts, but that was all. I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment, definitely.
