For the past five years, a mysterious city has appeared at every sunset in the middle of the desert. Once someone enters, there is no way to communicate with them, and there is no way to leave. No one knows what happens within the city except for one thing: as soon as the city disappears again at dawn, the bodies of those who have died within its walls are left behind in a sick and mutilated form. This hasn’t stopped the government from allowing the public from entering and transforming the government’s worst kept secret into the world’s biggest tourist attraction. Why they allowed it is still unknown.
Mercenary, Jonathon Raker, is devastated after being informed his sister, Jazz, has entered The Dead Zone. Suspicious as to why she would do this, he soon discovers that she may not have gone in of her own accord, and she wasn’t the only one. Raker’s only choice, therefore, is to go in after her, knowing when he does he’ll never return, nor can he save her in the way he wishes. This mission has only one outcome — their deaths.
I just finished Infernum and the last 3 words were the best.
I loved the whole thing. I didn’t get tired reading it, because I think the comic parts gave my eyes a rest. It makes it feel like the story is shorter, but it’s much more enjoyable. I also loved it because it didn’t need any romance or dissecting of relationships. It was pure action. It was original. It was fast paced and all the characters had an identity, but there wasn’t too much detail. It was more story focused. It was good to see what they all looked like too. So thank you for writing it 😁 I hope you’re getting some success from it.
The beginning of this gripped me right away and I could barely put it down.
I wasn't in love with the art style, but the intrigue in the story made up for everything.
It's disappointing that I can't find any news for a sequel as it was well set up for one and I would definitely read it, it's just a shame it took me so long to get to!
I think that the overall story and characters needed a bit more development, but I enjoyed my experience reading this and I loved the multimedia aspect of this.
Kimberley Clark does it again with this dark science fiction thriller with a bit of horror mixed in. Definitely a different take on the whole parallel universe scenario. The illustrations by Jake Bartok which highlight and continue the story are in a dark hue which matches the its menacing ambience. The length of the novel is almost too short and leaves you wanting for more. Bring on part 2 of Infernum Kimberley ...please?
A really amazing books which combines comics and novels smoothly and till perfection. I read the book over two days, i was addicted after the first chapter and binge read after that. I actually squeaked at the end because I was not prepared for it being part of a series. I can’t recommend it enough to any horror + sci-fi fan!!
Gripping, lots of action and an amazing story line! Definitely not what I would normally pick up to read, but so glad I got the chance to read this dark sci-fi with lots of suspense. An extremely talented writer!
