'The Vampire King's Captive' by T. S Ryder is the story of Gavin and Aria. Gavin is the Vampire King and has come to Aria house to get her father to pay back the money he owes. Her father took the money out for her to go to school. Aria is woken in the night with his demands to her father and she volunteers to be a 'juice box' for him if he will forgive the debt her father owes. Gavin agrees and they go off together. This was a nice read there was no instant moment of love or must have for Gavin in this book that I felt. But they came to be in love. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

My Rating: 3 Stars

T.S. Ryder kept me pretty interested in this story, which was a good thing and the twist after 60% or so of the book were even more interesting.

I wanted to punch Gavin, the Vampire King, so badly during the last part of the book more so that in the first part, but seriously? I just didn't like him most of the time. Yeah, he was gorgeous and cared about his human people more than other Vampire Rulers but I just couldn't accept his stubbornness towards Aria.

Aria on the other hand was a good girl, a good daughter and even a good blood bag, her words not mine, when she was with Gavin. I didn't understand completely how she fell for him but she did. What I really didn't like was the stupidity of her going to a club with her friend when she got really mad with Gavin.

At the end, Gavin redeemed himself in my eyes and I got to understand that this is a vampire, those of his kind are set on their traditions or ancient ideas, so I guess I was a little harsh with him.

The writing was good. The flow of the story was never in question or in conflict with anything else. No complicated wording or anything. I think this was a well done kind of short book.

I also liked the fact that T.S. Ryder made Aria a bisexual character and her friend Sonia was a lesbian. The introduction of those little details made this story more endearing to me because I feel like the author was open to different readers, and that was great.

A fun, sweet and light story. Loved their chemistry and laughed when Aria stood up to Gavin. Her mouthing off just made him want her more.

I voluntarily ARC for honest review . This short story is about Aria Taylor bisexual , university education is in agreement with Vampire King Gavin as his "juice box" to help pay off debt her father owes the crown. Gavin favorite blood type is AB negative , which is Aria. Humans are being kidnapped from his kingdom. They are both falling in love with each other but are confused about it. Aria give up her v-card, and becomes pregnant ,and Gavin find out Vampire Queen of Paris is kidnapping his human people for a breeding program and learning Aria is pregnant. They argue , hurt feelings sense of betrayal , misunderstanding and confusing emotions. Can they work out all obstacles and hurdles between them and with a baby. HEA. Still groggy from sleep, Aria was dragged from her bed and thrown onto the couch next to her father. In front of them was Gavin, the Vampire King. Her father owed him money and his property would be sold and he would spend years in jail. Aria was furious and instead offered her AB negative blood, a vampire favorite, for a period of time to pay off the debt. Gavin accepted and she was dragged to his limo. When he told her he wanted to drink from her in the limo to check her blood type and tried to bare her neck, she smacked him away and offered her wrist! She may be forced into this situation, but she was not letting him take advantage of her in any way.

Gavin had to go to Paris to meet with Queen Monique, another powerful ruler. Unfortunately, she wanted to discuss a breeding program for how humans should be selectively mated to strengthen the stock! Aria went ballistic, calling the Queen a witch!

The story was good, but I found Gavin’s actions a bit naive considering he was a worldly king with a great deal of experience in matters. He acted overly-possessive of Aria after a very short time with her, claiming he owned her and angry that she looked at the human male the Queen presented to her. It seemed very childish and out of character. He actually seemed to be sulking after Aria smacked him for his remark. But when Aria disappears, victim of a kidnapping, will he let her go or do all in his power to get her back?

Chapter 1 - The Vampire King shows up at Aria's house demanding the payment on a debt or else her father will go to jail and they'll lose everything. Aria insists paying off the debt by being the King's live in blood donor.

Chapter 2-3 - The King immediately becomes jealous and possessive. Aria announces she is a virgin and will only have sex with him if he completely forgives the debt....but she doesn't want to feel bought. Oh and she's a bisexual virgin.

Chapter 1 I was intrigued but the awkward dialogue and lame story line of the next 2 chapters just seriously made it impossible to continue.

I admire Aria for wanting to protect her father and having the moxey to stand up to the vampire king, Gavin, as well. He, in turn, is intrigued by her. Neither one of them has any intention of having an emotional connection to the other. With human subjects "missing" in his kingdom, one being Aria, Gavin must find her in order to save her. I thought it was a sweet love story, even if it didn't start out that way. I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Aria is taken from her house one night to pay for her father’s debts. She is going to be destined to be the blood supplier for Gavin, the vampire King.
I usually like the stories by T.S. Ryder, it is not that I didn’t like this one, but I found it lacking … something. It is not as believable as the others. There is no way Aria speaks like that to the king and the queen without being punished. We can’t see Gavin behaving as the king until Aria is lost.
All in all, it is still enjoyable and quick to read.

Ridiculousness

One of the worst stories I have read. I’m so tired of authors writing short stories then padding their books with a collection of short stories so the book can have a higher volume of pages. The Vampire King’s Captive has a ridiculous plot and nonsensical conflict. It’s a waste of time for all who touch it. It has ensured that I will never read another book by the author. In fact, I didn’t even attempt to read any of the bonus tales.

Nice short story. Aria's dad owes money to the vampire king, he threatens to sell all their stuff and send her dad to jail, but she blurts out that she will be his juice box until debt is paid. Gavin loves her spunky attitude, but does not want to admit it. Aria can't help having feelings for him. Can they come together or not? I received an arc copy for my honest review.

Spank, Spunk and Fangs in a perfect Mix!
There is a definite spunk, and spark Directly found in this book that makes this a highly interesting read.
This one is one of the different Vampire books, in all the best ways.
Surprising plot, unusual characters with the best kind of fluff, flaws and fill that makes them interesting, the spunk is a definite plus in the dialogues, making them captivating and intriguing.
Many Vampire books tend to be very much alike and the stories hold very little variation, that can be all nice and dandy.
But when you are a avid reader that reads a lot, you want the ones that are different, and not run of the mills, you have higher demands. This is that type of book that makes for a hot, awesome read for everyone, even for avid readers like me.
I will definitly look forward to reading more books from this author.

This was a fun quick read! To be honest, at first I though this was going to be another rather "formula" vampire/weak damsel in distress story. It opens with the vampire king, Gavin, threatening to throw a man in jail for not paying his debts to the crown. His daughter, Aria, who was dragged from her sleep to face the king when he arrived, jumps to her father's defense and offers herself as his "juice box" (feeding host) in trade for working off her father's debt.

At this point in the story I though, ok, this isn't going to be a great story and I'm probably not going to like it. Weak female, arrogant vampire...

But then...Aria showed she has a backbone. Gavin showed that he wasn't the arrogant, cold hearted individual she first believed him to be. They both grew in character depth and became real people, not just a cardboard formula!

Although there were certainly bumps in the road for their relationship, it kept the reader engaged. There was some suspense, some humor, and of course some sexy times - but not over the top.

This was a fun, romantic story that you will enjoy!

I received a copy of this book from Heartbeat Reads, however this is my honest review.

This is a wonderful, fascinating book to read and I really enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: a young woman agreeing to be taken in exchange for her father's debt (Aria), a domineering vampire king who has come to claim the due debt (Gavin), a vampire queen with undesirable plans (Monique), drama, intrigue, twists & turns, disagreements, arguments, anger, jealousy, unplanned pregnancy, accusations, abduction, lust, emotional feelings, love and mild erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well written. The characters are developed with personalities and have feelings of needs, lust and desires. I would recommend this book.

This was a very interesting book, the romance was sweet and fun to read, the plot was well thought out and an interesting concept, I think I would have liked to have seen a bit more background information about this world. I found that as the book progressed in parts I felt it was missing something, if a second book comes from this world a bit more background into the world the characters live in would be helpful.

I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review.

Fun filled excitement but

Ok. So the short stories were hot. Very hot but what made me decide not to give five stars were some of the spelling king and grammar issues. Nothing like being in the middle of a paragraph and having to re read sentences because of bad spelling or the wrong format. Fix this and ill give it a solid 5.

Mixed bag!

There were some very interesting stories in this group! Some of them I would put in their own set as they just weren't my cup of tea. There were several of them that included three somes and other pretty promiscuous and graphic content that could be separated.

Got ARC, for a honest review.

Nice short story. Loved the characters, would have like to read more about them. To me it had a erotica vampire fantasy feel to it. Made me think of "Beauty and the Beast", as well. Gavin and Aria characters had me reading to find out more about them. Aria is a strong woman that tries to save her dad from losing everything and going to jail. So she becomes a blood donor for the king. Loved their chemistry that were slowly building for the short story.

Thank you for letting me read your story.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Loved the book!
Aria did not have the best first impression of Gavin.
She was only supposed to stay until she paid her father's debt.
She did not count on the fact that she might fall in love with Gavin.
He is not a bad guy.
He is just stubborn and set in his way.
He was accostumed to not be questioned.
Aria did not have a submissive bone in her body, so of course the clashed.
Gavin even liked how Aria was feisty.
Great rea!
Great HEA!

This is a pretty quick read and a good paranormal romance. Aria is willing to sell her blood to protect her father. He owes a debt. She wants it to be business but both of them are attracted to each other. It gets complicated and dangerous pretty quickly for them both. The story moves fast and kept my interest.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received,

This was a truly sweet, hot, topsy turvy vampire read . The king was full of himself at times and infuriating, but when push came to shove, he shoved so hard the Paris vampire queen didn't know what hit her !! And our curvy, full size human female Aria knew what she wanted and what she would and wouldn't put up with, and ket me tell you, when it came to telling the Vampire King iff, she was down right hilarious !! Definite 4⭐ Read !! I received a gifted copy and am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review. Can't wait for T.S. Ryder's next book .

A fun and exciting short read. What a way to get woke up. Then to have to offer yourself as a meal with a straw in place of what your father owes this vampire king. And the adventure begins. This story is an enjoyable read. It has mystery, suspense, sweetness and hot. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
