(Please note that this is the spicy version of Talia: The Magical Bride )

Haskell, Wyoming sheriff, Trey Knighton, has never considered himself the marrying sort. He’d rather face down a whole pack of bloodthirsty outlaws than give his heart away, especially after losing his entire family to cholera as a boy. Love is just too big of a risk. But Howard Haskell has twisted his arm into sending away for a mail-order bride, and he’s too much of a gentleman to turn her away. He’s convinced everything will be fine if his marriage is in name only.

Talia Lambert is overjoyed not only to have a home and a husband at last, she’s eager to put her skills as a nurse to good use. She gets her chance only days after arriving in Haskell when influenza breaks out. She is happy to be of use, but as the attraction between her and Trey grows, so does Trey’s fear that disease will take her too if she continues working with the sick.

But Talia and Trey face a danger more sinister than disease when her healing skill is labeled as witchcraft. Trey must defend Talia against the ridiculous accusations, even as he overcomes his fears to find with Talia the love he has always been missing.

This is a sweet mail-order bride romance, with a likable couple. It is a very light, quick read, good if you don't have time for a longer novel. My main complaint is that I didn't think Talia's problem with the accusation of witchcraft would have been that easy to resolve, and would have caused many more difficulties than they did.

This book includes lots of characters (many from another series). Because so many of the characters had their own stories in the Hot on the Trail series, I would recommend reading that series before starting this one, then reading this series in order. You can read this book without that, but you will miss out on many important details of all the characters' lives. In this book, in particular, you will miss out on a lot of history about Trey's life before he meets Talia.

It really bothered me that the accusation of witchcraft against Talia was discussed, but treated as if the problems it caused her would have been easily resolved. I get that many people would have thought it was a silly charge, but there would have also been many who would have believed the accusation simply because it came from people they wanted to believe or impress. Talia and Trey (and their children) might very well have faced long term social ostracism, and possibly even violence. It is a terrible shame that people so often easily believe what they hear/read about others, without bothering to confirm the facts -- and this happens even more today, in our world of instant information. This book should have addressed that shame, and not treated it like a problem that could be resolved so easily.

This is the spicy version of this book, according to the description, but I didn't think it was really that spicy. It contains love scenes between the married couple, and it is not especially explicit. But if you want to read books with NO sex scenes at all -- only kisses -- then you should stick with the sweeter version of this book.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Absolutely Wonderful, Entertaining, Delightful & Romantic.

This Story was Absolutely Wonderful.

Talia & Trey's characters were delightful.

Another mail order bride & the buddies in Haskell only see a foreigner & start trouble.

Talia's family immigranted from Italy when she was a child. Her mother was a healer/nurse & was treated as if she wasn't worth anything because she is Italian. Talia learned everything her mother had done & became a nurse as well, minus the schooling.
I could go on, but I don't want to spoil the story.
I am really looking forward to reading Sam's story next in this series.

Good main characters

I enjoyed the characters of Trey and Talia very much. Trey, the sheriff, hesitating over marriage and then resisting the relationship unsuccessfully and Talia, born in Italy, looking exotic and accused of being a witch.
The speech Trey makes near the end about differences in people was well written and heartfelt.

I loved this book. The characters were great as was the story. I loved that as a nurse she had a job to do as did Trey as a sheriff. It was hard for him to accept. The flow of the story was great. I am looking forward to the next in this fabulous series!

Discrimination At It's Finest

A witch, spells, and seductress; oh My! This novel touches on discrimination over the color of ones skin, country of origin, and gender.

I love how Talia is a strong female character who fights for her life's calling.
