Damn! SJ just keeps giving us great sport romance books to read. I voluntarily received an advance copy of this book. I have read all of her books thus far and will continue to.
Sarah and Burke's story is steamy and entertaining. It didn't start out this way. When Sarah met Burke, he was there to court her boss Yvette. As he waited in the lobby for Yvette to show up for their meeting, Sarah started to realize that the person Burke portrays to the public is really not the person he truly is. Burke finds that being smart doesn't get the ladies. So if he asks dumb then there won't be a problem. The only issue is he finds that he cannot stop thinking about Sarah. While out at an event with Yvette, Sarah shows up with an urgent call for her. Yvette tells Burke to entertain Sarah. Well he does more than just entertain her. But when they get up in the morning and he doesn't remember sleeping with Sarah she lets him believe that nothing happened. He continues on with his chase of Yvette. Yes even after they finally start dating he's still chasing after her. Sarah picks up with her ex Andrew again. Sarah realizes she's pregnant and Burke thinks it's Andrew's. Well once the cat is out the bag there's no getting it back in. One thing for certain is you can't force someone to like you. Burke will learn this the hard way.
There is a beautiful happy ending and I recommend you read this book.
I cannot get enough of SJ's writing! This one has hit the top of my favorite stories so far. I cannot wait to see what comes next! I'm voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Emma and Jackson have their hands full with negotiations, but when Bryant steps in and starts causing problems, he's the first to step up and fight back...literally. Not caring if he loses out on his contract with his current team or the one who's trying to sign him on, he's only focused on Emma. That is, until her secret pregnancy comes out and he's caught blindsided.
I borrowed Drop Kicked as a bonus book in another book by this author from the Kindle Unlimited program.
Drop Kicked is a prequel to start a series and get readers interested in the characters. The setting is an NFL football team and they are in a period of renegotiating contracts. It is Emma's job to get Jackson to sign with the Tomcats again, but when the prequel ends in a cliffhanger the reader is left without an answer to the problem in the story.
Emma is a woman in a man's profession and her father treats her just as bad as everyone else. She won't date football players nor sleep with them. Except when she gets upset or drunk. She is trying to negotiate Jackson's contract and arrogant Bryant steps in when he sees an opening. Both make some stupid decisions.
5 stars I purchased the Blitz box set by SJ Bishop in July 2107 which contained Drop Kicked the prequel and this review was given freely. Intrigue, drama, and violence , Alpha males with edgy tempers, football, and a happy ending make this a jam packed and action filed sports romance.
This was a quick easy story if you like sports romance and surprise babies. Emma and Jackson initial meeting was supposed to be to negotiate his NFL contract. Emma's rule was she never slept with football players. She broke her own rule or so the story goes.
Jackson is a football player. Emma is renegotiating his contract. A one night rebellious stands is not what she wanted. She finds out she's pregnant by the one night stand. She hooks up with Jackson. Boy, does harsh words fly until she is hit by a car.
This was the first S.J. Bishop book I read. I got signed up for her email list through a giveaway and started receiving the book by email, one chapter at a time. I didn't start reading it until I had twenty or so chapters. I read those first twenty chapters in one night and every night after I was checking my email constantly until I got the new chapter. I liked the story, the characters, the rivalry between Jackson and Bryant. Emma was awesome! This is a fantastic sports romance, highly recommend!
I'd like to thank the author for this giveaway. It a good read but short. I would have loved to get more from Jackson and Emma. I also didn't like how the issue with Bryant and Jackson was resolved. Other that these it was an easy and good read.
