I received a copy of this issue from Angelo Panetto after he read my review of issue 2.

Agent 1.22 is dispatched to Phobos to retrieve vital tech. The problem is that Phobos has been ravaged by a virus. En route there, Agent 1.22 accesses a message from a scientist stationed on Phobos that she shouldn’t have seen. Following the message, her vitals become erratic. On Phobos she doesn’t adhere to the mission parameters and ends up engaging with hostiles. But, when she meets the scientist, she really starts behaving strangely.

We are getting to learn more about the protagonist’s past and it seems she may not have always been the mute weapon that she is now.

Once again, the visuals are astounding and packed with detail. It makes the story come alive.

In this issue, I did notice quite a few typos and missing words, but since I received a preview copy, I assume it would have been corrected before final publication.

I’m also unsure about the angles used on Agent 1.22. There are several low-angle shots when she is in the foreground. Why is this stylistic choice used solely on her?

I’m very interested in where this story is going and to learn more about the characters. I just hope the series doesn’t let down its protagonist.

Volume 1 of Agent 1.22 is just as amazing as the introductory issue. First off, the images are incredible! The digital copies bring everything to life. There are slight, HD blurs, that make the movements realistic, and the images themselves are darn near 3-D! How can one read Agent 1.22, with its intriguing, scifi imagery, and not hunger for more?

Now we are seeing more than her current situation- we see her past. She's remembering! Who she was, things that had taken place in her life, pre-cybornetics. She's also noticing others about her and the mission. On Phobos, someone's there that she remembers, amongst the plague victims, but the situation is critical. There are angry survivors.

The story is really picking up, especially concerning Director Miller. I would like to think she's not after our heroic agent, due to jealousy, but an actual master plan. We're way too far into the future to go at it on silliness. I like her, but only because I don't like her. She's one of those characters that's pretty cool, except for her agenda. I can't wait to see where it's all going.
