Born in the wilds of San Francisco, with its rich literary history and public transport system teeming with potential characters suitable for crime novels, it was inevitable that Max Tomlinson would become a writer.

He is also kindred spirits with a dog named Floyd, a shelter-mix who stops and stares at headlights as they pass by at night. There's a story there, too. If only Floyd could talk. Then again, maybe not.

His work to date includes SENDERO (listed as one of the top 100 Indie novels of 2012 by Kirkus), WHO SINGS TO THE DEAD, LETHAL DISPATCH, THE CAIN FILE (selected by Amazon’s Kindle Scout program) and the follow-up – THE DARKNET FILE. A new three-book mystery series set in 1970s San Francisco debuted in 2019 with Oceanview Publishing. The first book, VANISHING IN THE HAIGHT, features ex-con Colleen Hayes, on the hunt for her long-lost daughter. TIE DIE, book #2, releases August 2020.

Max also writes under the pen name “Max Radin” when he’s not being purely mysterious or suspenseful. Check out ROCK 'N' ROLL VAMPIRE for his comedy debut.

Tomlinson is skilled at creating strong female characters, and Maggie de la Cruz and is one of his best. Determined, capable, experienced, and hardheaded, she’ll do anything to bring down the darknet site that funds Jihad Nation. But playing the defector Kafka is child’s play compared with keeping the project alive. That involves ripping a strip off the CIA Director. A nice twisty plot full of bad guys and computer hacking and weaponry. HIGHLY recommended.

I've read them all and can't wait for the next one!

Max Tomlinson's is one of my favorite writers. I've purchased and read all of his published books. I really enjoy the locales in his stories and the character development in each series.

Entertaining story

Fun read and the solution to the problem had some good twists. Good set up for the next book, to which I look forward.

Ripped from the pages of world news, this story of Middle East terrorism is riveting and made real by the author's ability to create believable fictional characters. The strong female lead is a real plus as Maggie de la Cruz, a federal agent from a lesser-known U.S. department, pits her skills and courage against ISIS fighers. The are terrorist plots and action scenes ranging from Paris to the Middle East, and every one of them keeps the story moving at a quick pace. If you like action and adventure, The Darknet File is a good choice. It's a good story that's well written.

A small government agency is working to cut off funding to Isis and Agent Maggie de la Cruz is in the forefront. A computer and account specialist she also likes to be in the thick of things. Waiting in a Paris side walk cafe with her working partner for the arrival a late informant she stops a suicide bomber attack thereby saving a number of people but unfortunately not her partner who was hit by gunfire. This is a tale based on current events and world situations. Isis fighters are capturing and killing groups who are not Muslim and selling the women and girls as sex slaves. Maggie is intent on cutting off their funding and putting a stop to the genocide of these small religious groups. Plenty af action, a rather uncooperative French policeman and a quick raid on an Isis enclave keep this book moving.

Pretty good. There were a few novice-type ways of writing that jumped out at me and became annoying over time. It was pretty exciting, but left a main question unanswered. I guess that's the subject of the next book, but it was pretty disappointing.
