From New York Times Bestselling Author, S.L. Scott, comes this story that will captivate and consume from beginning to end. This is a must read for anyone who believes in true love.

Move on with your life, they said.

Forget her, they said.

But how could Ben Edwards forget the woman who was supposed to be his forever? When Grace Stevens disappeared--without a word, without a trace--she took half his soul with her.

Despite the heartbreak, Ben tried. He tried to take their advice by pursuing his career. He tried to find fulfillment in his work. He tried to find peace.

Grace had been the love of his life. Her fingerprints were on every surface of his existence. He had success and wealth. He had everything, except her.

Then fate stepped in one serendipitous night. The hope he'd held on to for three long, agonizing years appeared before him in the form of a picturesque beauty.

Was she real, or an apparition returning to haunt him? He wasn't sure, but he wouldn't stop until he found his missing love. Every minute mattered, and he wouldn't waste a second chance.

Its been 3 months since I read Missing Grace, subsequently leaving the below "RTC" placeholder, so when it popped up on my updates feed, I scowled, looked away, and waved it off. Only for my brain to say "hang on a second, don't we remember this story?"

And you know what? I remember EVERYTHING about Ben and Grace's story. Everything.

1. The opening scene with Grace leaving for the airport to travel for a business meeting, the mini tiff she had with Ben (which meant she left while upset).

2. How she never arrived at her destination.

3. How Ben put his life on hold- for years- in order to search for her.

4. And the events that transpired there on. Tension, duplicity, heartbreak, love, and a beautiful HEA.

I'll tell you this much, sometimes I forget what I wore or ate yesterday so it can't be that I have excellent memory. Yet this story remains clear with its essence unmarred.

For this book to achieve this while being in the sea of books with more gravitas , I'm upping my rating from 4 to 5 stars.

Review to come

In the meantime, let me just say: We all should be loved the way Ben loved Grace. It was magical. Sigh.

All the feels for Missing Grace!!

The storyline was well written, the plot had me turning the pages late into the night as I couldn't put it down.
Ben and Grace were likable, endearing and memorable characters that touched my heart with their love story,

Another touching and heartfelt read by the talented S.L.Scott and I highly recommend it!

Two soul mates
A love really very strong
Two likable characters
One interesting plot
And an awful choice of a writing style, which decreases the value of everything

4 out of 3,5

Grace Stevens suddenly vanishes the face of the earth after her plane lands in Chicago. No one hears from her – no accident or police reports, no hospital records.. Nada, nothing!

Everyone loses hope after a while but the love of her life, Ben Edwards, changes all his life style and moves to Chicago just to find her. He is a legendary hero with all that love and determination of his.

3 years pass...

Still no news...
Even her family believe she is gone forever.

Ben has a girlfriend in his life now who he cares about but feels nothing closer to what he feels for Grace. He is just trying to exist.

One day, when he is out of all hope, he meets Grace just by chance. He sees her at an event but she is engaged to a rich doctor. Her name is Jane Parker and she doesn’t remember Ben...

As you can imagine, the plot is really captivating and I loved both Grace and Ben. A man like him and a love like his is more precious than anything on earth...

The thing is, as the plot is revealed, you question the credibility of these events happening like that. Don't expect a huge plot twist. There is no big mystery when all is explained, it is just a little hard to believe.

Still, I liked their story. Their love was one of a kind.

And for your information, the book is full of deep emotions but do not expect a steamy book! (Just a few emotional kisses and one emotional nookie towards the very end).

The biggest flaw of the book is its writing style.

The writing style the author has chosen diminishes the value of the book to a great extent.

It is written in the 3rd person. Although the chapters are dedicated either to Ben or Grace, the writer uses 3rd person singular to tell what they do or think or feel. It sounds so weird and it gets very distracting when the inner thoughts of the characters are given in italics.

It is too hard to feel the emotions in books when there is no dual point of view, so it was too difficult for me to get into the story and to continue most of the time. If I didn't like the characters and the plot, I would have DNFed it just for its bad writing.

In 3rd person writing, you mostly depend on good dialogues to convey the feelings. If the dialogues weren’t good, I couldn’t have felt anything but thank God the dialogues were good enough.

This writing style has always been my least favorite but actually I have read books when the writer still makes it possible for the writing to flow. Here, in my opinion, the writing wasn’t successful at all except for the dialogues.

Since I can't really tell you about this amazingly original story without giving away some super crucial and surprising details, this is just going to be a review filled with some heavy FANGIRL-ing moments. So please bare with me because once I am finished, you'll all be jumping at the chance to one-click this one!

First off can I just say how awesome it would be if Amazon and Goodreads would allow us to rate a phenomenal story like Missing Grace with more than five stars. Its like come on get with the program, as a book lover I sometimes come across stories like this one where I feel like a five star rating just isn't enough. With that being said, I am giving this book a THOUSAND star rating because yes S.L. Scott truly deserves that high of a praise for writing this breathtakingly captivating story.

I must regrettably admit that this is the first book I've read from this author, but I have to say that I am glad that Missing Grace was the story that popped my S.L. Scott book "cherry" (haha - pun fully intended) because it is by far one of my top 2017 favorite reads! So I kinda wish that I counted the number of times that this book had me in tears and left me on the edge of my seat, but I couldn't because I did not want to take my eyes off of my kindle for a single second. This extraordinary story literally captured my full attention and as much as I didn't want to, I totally fell asleep mid-read (when your kindle smacks you in the face you know it's time to go to bed, even when all you want to do is finish it).

Overall, this book will take you on a whirlwind of emotions along with some twists and turns. This is without a doubt one of those stories that will have you anticipating the end, while not wanting to let it go at the same time. S.L. Scott you are officially on my list of favorite authors and I cannot wait to see what you come up with next (and of course checking out some of your previous releases when I get a spare moment in my overwhelmingly hectic life)!

If I ever lost, please call Ben to find me. Even with my memory gone, in my heart I know he is my perfect book boyfriend.

Missing Grace is a second chance love story between Ben and Grace. They got seperates by accident and Grace lost her memory. With a love in his heart, Ben never give up finding her. Although I wish Miss Scott can dramatized the story better, I still enjoy this book very much.

Such a romantic story.

I'm not sure what to even say about this. There is nothing I love more about a book than reading about pure love that a man has for a woman. It makes my heart so full, and let me tell you, Ben loved Grace more than I've ever had the pleasure of reading about. This book was so heartbreaking at times that I couldn't keep my emotions in check. I sobbed hard on multiple occasions. However, that's how I read books, so just because I cried doesn't mean you will. I'm just very very emotional sometimes.

The synopsis of this book does not give you even a beginning glimpse of what this book is truly about. I was not prepared for the drama, love, heart break, or true soul drenching sorrow that I felt about these two. Ben and Grace loved each other so very much. They've been friends since they were 10, in love since they were 14, and never without each other ( and truly never wanted to be) until Grace went missing. Ben spent years of his life searching for her, and couldn't really move on in his life. In his heart he knew she was out there somewhere. From the date she went missing he literally moved from Seattle to Chicago because that was where she was traveling during her missing time, and he never went home. He couldn't go there without her, because he loved her that much.

Grace's point of view in this story is just so tragic at times, but when her POV comes out you can tell how much she loved Ben. There are parts in the book when it goes back in time (just in thoughts.. Not chapters of the past) that made me smile and laugh sometimes, because they were truly perfect for each other. It's the all ending kind of love.

I cannot give spoilers..I don't review like that. I can't tell you if she was found, or if she stayed missing, but this book is a definite must read. I promise you that it is worth it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from the author. This is a book that you cannot pass up. This authors writing was completely unbelievable at times.. Flawless and inspiring. Congrats to you because I know this book will soar!!

DNF @35%

Im not opposed to 3rd party POV and have read some wonderful stories in that format, but this one just didn't work for me. It read more like a well detailed and descriptive police report, instead of the swoony "chase and make her fall back in love with me" story that I was hoping for.

The writing made me feel detached from the characters and dialogue. I saw snippets of brilliance and emotions in most parts, but because of my detachment and lack of swoons, those parts just weren't enough for me to believe or continue reading on.

To be fair; I really loved the idea and premise of this story. And the writing did slowly get better as I kept reading. I'm sure if I continued with this book, I would have found the emotions and swoons that I was looking for, but alas, I had already lost the interest to keep digging and scratching for swoons.

Ok, I won't gripe on anymore. I'm sure others may have loved this story, so I'll just chalk it up to my own personal preferences or bitchy mood.

Told in dual, 3rd person POV and standalone story.

Edited my review.

Ben and his Missing Grace

I did a reread as this was one book I remembered and hasn’t forgotten but I wasn’t very happy with my review so here is a edited one and hope it makes sense lol.

So at first I was confused with this storyline and I wasn’t sure if I was going to add it to my DNF pile but hello I’m glad I didn’t.

So without further ado, I knew that SL Scott was one of my fave writers and if you’re a new reader to her books this one will leave you confused like me, and all I can say is, go in blind, read it and be blown away by the plot twist.

2 really disappointed stars

Read my unfiltered review @Readin' Under Street-Lamps. (aka full of spoilers and incessant ranting).

I was really disappointed. The writing left little to wish for, and the character development was really half-assed. The entire storyline was just plain bad. I kept waiting for something to happen, but really nothing ever does. It got annoying real quick. I don't think the ending has ever let me down this bad before. I think it was mostly because I kept expecting it to get better. I really shouldn't have. One star because it was bad, and one star because of the first chapter. I don't recommend this book, but if you do read, don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Ben's fiancée - Grace Stevens - disappeared off the face of the Earth three years ago after going on a work trip to Chicago and never arriving at her hotel, nor her business conference. Depressed, and having exhausted every avenue of information, Ben relocates to Chicago to further search and look for Jane Doe appearances in hospitals whilst burying himself in work.

I was ready to go in all guns blazing.
Ben had a "girlfriend" for the last 9 months. In the grand scheme of 3 years, it wasn't very long considering he was dwindling with a barely-there existence. But I was hesitant that I wouldn't believe in his love for Grace with Rebecca traipsing around. Though in a "relationship" Ben is completely submerged in Grace. His clinical Chicago apartment holds a single picture of them both, his computer full of memories. He compartmentalises Grace and his life, with the dull mundane existence of today. He realises he needs to move on but is incapable.

For clarification, this is what's said about his and Rebecca's relationship, which I translated to mean un-consummated.

The key to the apartment was a consolation prize, a distraction to a conversation she wanted to have about his real feelings, a drunken discussion that had become sexual. He’d thought he was ready for something physical, ready for a connection with someone again. He hadn’t been and the key to his place was offered.”

Attending as Rebecca's date to a high-profile, black tie event for doctors, an award is granted to Dr. Barnes, an "Under-Forty" surgeon. When the doctor approaches his date for a congratulatory kiss, Ben's whole world shifts on its axis.

She was beautiful. Elegant.
Long, wavy chestnut-brown hair.
Slim and delicate build.
Graceful curve of her neck.
Almond-shaped eyes highlighted by long dark lashes.

Only the woman he knows is no longer Grace Stevens, but introduced as Jane Parker, the fiancée of Dr.Barnes and suffering from amnesia following a car accident three years ago. She no longer remembers him, them, their families, their history.

He and Grace had been friends for four years, dated for seven, and engaged for almost two.

Immediately breaking off his relationship with Rebecca, he sought to bring back Grace, the two of them navigating dirty waters and falling in love again swift and hard.

The writing was in the third person. I believe the intensity of the emotions would have been heightened so much more had we had first person points of view from Jane and Ben. The story-telling felt cold in some respects.

What was really wonderful was the chemistry between them. It's palpable. You just want them to be together. I was waiting for them to sleep together, because there was pages upon pages fraught with tension. He loved her so much. Of course, the author leaves that wish to be fulfilled right at the end.

My problem was the idyllic, convenient-ness of it all. How over the course of the three years, she's had no memories, but flashes return as she spends time with Ben. Her speedy adjustment. How the two of them ended up with temporary significant others who willed to keep them apart even though they knew the truth. How there was a reverse accident rendering her to regain her memories. How the ending was fairytale like and cartoonified with the villain and the hero.

Barnes shouted at Ben, one last time before he was pushed to the far side of the corridor. “You’ll pay for this.”

I had to deduct the two stars. As for safety, if you can swallow the pill that during her memory loss, and their separation she had a fiancé, and he had a distant girlfriend - then it's safe.

"Grief doesn't strike once. It devastated your heart and your hope over and over again, beating it down until nothing remained of it. Not even yourself."

"Destiny is shaped by choice, not chance."

S.L. Scott knocks it out of the park with this beautiful and unforgettable second chance romance. Missing Grace is written with so much heart and soul, bringing out all the feels and making your heart beat out of your chest.

I am absolutely speechless and blown away by the love and beauty of this story. S.L. Scott has taken me on one emotional and unforgettable journey. A journey of first love, mistakes, regret and hope for second chances and never, never giving up. This story is tragic and beautiful with unexpected twists that will leave you breathless, hoping that everything will right itself in the end.

I fell hard for Ben and Grace. Their journey consuming every part of heart. S.L. Scott has without a doubt knocked it out of the park with Ben and Grace's story providing me with a romance that truly stands the test of time. If this story has taught me anything, it has taught me to never give up. No matter how tough things may get, never give up. There is always hope and when life gifts you with a second chance, don't waste a single second...

I've read many of Suzie's stories and the thing that I really enjoy about them is that you become invested in the characters. You don't just feel like you're watching what happens to them, it feels like they are family or close friends and you experience their pain and joy with them. When I find myself wiping away tears (as I did a few times in this story) or have my family ask why I'm grinning at my phone like a loon, I know I've found something good. Suzie never fails to provide these kinds of stories.

This story starts off with people who are broken by life experiences brought about by no fault of their own, and ends with the kind of joy we all wish to achieve.

I'm thrilled that I was able to get an early look at this story and have gladly added it to my collection!

Cheers,
Sherrie

‘…the search for Grace became an addiction, as he couldn’t believe she would be gone forever.’

We are incredibly aware that it’s easy to spoil this story for other readers so we won’t say anything about the story at all. We don’t think we would have enjoyed this book as much as we did if we’d known what would transpire. So please go into this story bind.

‘Every spare minute that wasn’t dedicated to work, eating or sleeping he spent searching for his love.’

We pretty much read Missing Grace in one sitting, our emotions took a pounding and we were on tenterhooks worried were this story was going. We had so many questions and never felt truly safe. Once thing we never questioned though was Ben’s incredible love for Grace. Our hearts bled for this man who clearly loved with his entire being, never letting go of a love that would live till the end of time. Ben stole our hearts, completely. He was the heart and soul of this story. A beautiful man who never lost hope....... Click here for full review at TBB

Good romance with a bit of psychological thriller.
The hero and the heroine are childhood friends, then high school sweethearts then they get engaged and , after one argument she leaves and disappears.
As in actually disappears. The poor besotted hero tries to find her everywhere and never stops, even moving from Seattle where they lived to Chicago where she was last seen.
After three years he still hasn’t moved on, and believe me, not as in screwing everything that moves but sometimes remembers her, no, this one was faithful and committed and determined never to let his search for her go. He has a girlfriend but as in girl friend, and no, no benefit. She wants him all right but he told her he is half a man and he will always love his vanished fiancee. So they have this sort of friendship, but no love or sex.
Then, accidentally, he sees her again. She was in an accident three years before.
She has amnesia. Total amnesia.
She has a new fiance, the doctor who was there and saved her when she was run over by a taxi.
They’re getting married in a month.
But nothing is as it seems.
I loved the book. Even when I thought it could be, well, weird and not completely realistic, it has its reasons.
I though, hell, how could a person in this time disappears even when her people looks for her.
Well, first, she was wounded so she had to recover for months.
Then, her parents are from another state.
And the hero tried to look for her everywhere, hospitals, police station, she vanished. How is that possible.
It was, and it made sense. I’m not spoiling the thriller part because it was good.
I loved so much the hero, he was so in love with her, I loved how he never stopped loving her even when he knew she was with another man.
The heroine was hurt. She was without memory, so she was basically on her own. The doctor who became her fiance took her in, gave her a house and money and took care of her. I can’t blame if after two years she accepted to marry him. He helped her and told her he was trying to find out her past. I don’t want to say much because it’s worth reading.
There are two deceitful people here who hurt and kept our characters separated.
But in the end they could br together again.
I loved them both. But the hero is best character ever. I dont know if I will find another hero like this one especially with the awful books I’ve been rating lately. Safety. The hero was celibate and faithful to the heroine while she was engaged with another man and she obviously had sex with him, but she was completely deprived of all her memories, so I wouldn’t fault her.

Continuing on my amnesia trope kick, I picked up Missing Grace by S.L. Scott. It had an added bonus of the ‘I thought my one true love was missing/dead but is actually alive trope.’ Funnily enough, it wasn’t the amnesia or the ‘missing/dead fiancé storyline that I couldn’t believe – it was the ridiculous characters.

S.L. Scott created a hero and heroine who were utterly one dimensional. Instead of exploring the complex emotions, relationship angst and emotional growth that can and should accompany amnesia storylines, we instead get a couple that is SOOOOO loving and patient and sweet and forgiving, and unconditionally devoted to one another.

description

The angst never came and that was disappointing. Like, sure, Ben is great but their story was boring.

I think this book would be great for readers who love a super sweet and uncomplicated love story. I am not one of those readers, but I can appreciate that other people are.

Missing Grace is different from all the romance books that I have been reading lately. I am not huge fan of second chances or amnesia plot line but I really enjoyed it in this story. Given the story line it could have easily been full of drama but it wasn't which was great. Ben is an amazing hero. I loved the fact he never gave up on Grace and how fiercely he loved her. They definitely had a beautiful heartfelt love story.

Thanks to Andrea for the recommendation. I really enjoyed it :)

This was a whole lot of nothing. I only read until the end for the hero- he was amazing- but I could not give two shits about the heroine. I think the whole premise of the book was good but it was executed poorly. Lots of plot holes. Also, you’d think there would have been a ton of dialogue in the book with heroines amnesia but NOPE the author has her running and crying in a corner every time she hears something that she doesn’t like or, even worse, she needs to “be alone and think about what she just learned” 😒

‘Every spare minute that wasn’t dedicated to work, eating or sleeping he spent searching for his love.’

We don’t think soul mate romances come much more powerful than Missing Grace. It was overwhelmingly emotional, passionate, frustrating and heart-breaking. It was a reading race against time as we wanted to know what happened and why. We wanted Ben to find his peace, his calm, his happiness and his resolution. We wanted Ben to truly live again and for his heart to once more be whole. As for missing Grace; we teared up at the thought of what happened, fearing the worst. We hoped Ben’s relentless perseverance would pay off, in order to find an answer. We wanted this beautiful couple safe, somehow.

“You were taken from me.”

We pretty much read Missing Grace in one sitting, our emotions took a pounding and we were on tenterhooks worried were this story was going. We had so many questions and never felt truly safe. Although I really liked Ben and the premise of this story had great potential, it just didn't work for me. Too many things just didn't add up in my mind and were a bit OTT to make them really believable. I could not warm up to Grace. And I don't think it was her fault. It was the wham bam everything is all fine and dandy again between her and Ben. Suddenly without much build up, Jane disappears and Grace returns. I found it slow in parts and boring in others. Just didn't work.

Missing Grace by SL Scott is a beautiful, breathtaking read. Filled with suspense and intrigue Missing Grace captivates and consumes from beginning to end.

I've sat for a while now wondering how best to review. And it's really hard. So, I've decided I'll say this. Go in blind, ride the wave and let yourself become immersed in the story. SL has written this novel so intricately and with refined detail. Everything is covered and the story flows. It pushes and pulls at every emotion and will leave you swimming in a sea of feels.

I really don't want to say anymore. This story is an experience I would urge anyone to take. Just live it..and like me you'll really really enjoy it!

Poignant, and thought-provoking, SL Scott has penned an examination into the human heart, and just how far we're willing to go for the ones we love. Don't miss it.

This book is worthy of more than 5 stars. Oh my word, I absolutely loved it.
Ben Edwards.... everybody should have a Ben in their lives. He stole my heart. He loved Grace so much from such a young age that they were soul mates and destined to be together forever. When Grace disappeared without a trace, he never gave up on her and was destined to spend his whole life searching for the truth about her disappearance, no matter how crushing the news could be.
Grace..... so lucky to have Ben fighting for her, looking constantly for her and with the kind of love they shared he was never going to give up without finding out the truth.
The book had all the feels. It is heartbreakingly beautiful. It is so well written that I couldn't help but be drawn into the story from the very beginning and angst had me not wanting to put this book down until I completed reading it. I laughed, cried and felt my heart was being ripped out of my chest at times. A beautiful story that is a must read.

His Reason. His Everything.

When the love of your life vanishes without a trace and your only reason for living is to find out what happened, you become a shell of a person just existing.

But what happens when DESTINY and FATE step in? Will you finally be able to start living again or will evil forces and fear keep you from what is meant to be?

Find out what happens in this absolutely beautiful story that will have your heart breaking at one moment and then being rebuilt in another. The writing is so phenomenal that I actually felt the pain and longing of the characters. I was blown away by this story and will be feeling it in my heart and soul for a long time

S.L. Scott is an extremely talented writer, which is proven in this fantastically written breathtaking story.

Ben and Grace have a love so true and everlasting nothing could tear them apart, until Grace goes on a business trip to Chicago and disappears without a trace. Ben has searched for her for three years knowing in his heart that without her, he is only half a man. Everyone has given up on ever seeing Grace again, except Ben.

This is a story about love everlasting and never giving up on someone you love, even when the odds are stacked against you. S.L. Scott tells a wonderful love story that has you feeling every emotion from love, fear, despair, and hope. It's a beautiful story and one I will read again. This is definitely one of my favorite books. I highly recommend it.

The H’s been looking for his missing soulmate for 3 yrs. They met when they were 10yrs old, shared their first kiss at 14, dated for 7 years and were engaged when she went missing.

Theres mystery of what had happened that day, she has amnesia, there an Ow and an OM, all of this sounded like it would be a heart wrenching angsty read, but it ended up being a major bore with no angst whatsoever. I felt nothing.🤷🏻‍♀️
There’s caring and love but no passion.

Boring, might try again some other time.
