When her sister is shot by a crazed gunman at a mall, Violet drops everything to return to Lost Hills, Texas. She dreads small-town life and can’t wait to get back to her company in San Francisco. But when she runs into Aaron, her first and only love, she tries in vain to resist the sexy cowboy’s bedroom eyes and rock hard body. One night of unbridled passion leads to disastrous consequences and she’s forced to make an impossible choice.
Cowboy bear shifter Aaron Grant doesn’t care that Violet has a life in San Francisco. He wants her back. After spending a decade pretending to be content with their long-distance friendship, he’s ready to claim his fated mate. But before he can confess his love, he must find a way to tell her the truth about his big, furry secret and risk losing her forever.
This is the second book in the paranormal bear romance series - Lone Star Cowbears. This is a stand-alone book with NO CLIFFHANGERS. Love scenes are fully realized and at times include explicit language.
Booked two of the Lone Star Cowbears Series by Liv Brywood Violet is a CEO of a tech company based in San Francisco. She's incredibly busy and doesn't come back home often to see her parents or sister. Nicole violet sister is shot while shopping and slips into a coma so violet comes home to check on her while visiting she meets Aaron and sparks fly straight away. Aaron is violet's high school sweetheart and he has loved her for years trying to come to term with his mate not wanting him and living miles away. While violet is back home things heat up incredibly quickly between them but violet doesn't want to stay in a small town and run her parents bee farm. I really struggled with Violet attitude especially her relationship with her parents, even though she's a CEO doesn't mean you can't keep in contact or make excuses when she needs to return when her sister is shot. Aaron did come across as needy and did put Violet under pressure when things started heating up but did come to realise with help of his sister that he needed to stop telling Violet what to do and try find a way to make things work. Violet did come across as a bit of a user she'd keep telling Aaron she isn't staying but then giving him hope by making out with him and saying she misses being in small town. Did love how things worked out but this is not my favourite. Looking forward to finding out more about this spin off cousins Curvy Bear Ranch Series.
Violet is the CEO of her very own company called TechStart. She is stressed out trying to make sure they meet their IPO. Being out in San Francisco had done wonders for her. She never liked being trapped in Lost Hills, a tiny backwards town and all the memories it brings. But when tragedy strikes close to home, she is off the Lost Hills. But what will she do when she runs into her first love, who she decided wasn't enough to keep her in the tiny town?
Aaron is a working man on the ranch his brothers and him own called Bucking Bear Ranch. Finally getting a good heck of a deal to help his family's ranch, he can rest easy. He hears about what happened to his neighbor's one daughter. He can't help but think of his first love (their other daughter) and how she broke his heart. Will she be coming back to town? And if she does what will he do to finally claim her as his own?
This is an OK shifter romance, but I didn't really like the couple. Because of that, I didn't really care if they found their HEA, and didn't find the book very satisfying.
I couldn't stand Violet. She was selfish and just determined to go her own way, no matter who it hurt. I get that she didn't want her parents to decide her life choices for her, but she seemed to be OK with hurting them over and over. I will say, though, that I thought her parents were a large part of the problem. They never told her they were proud of her accomplishments, only constantly attacked her for not going along with their dreams for her.
It also really bothered me that Violet didn't drop everything to go home after her sister was shot. She did go, but not immediately. She thought her work meeting was too important -- more important than her sister. I get that she had worked very hard to get her company where it was, but her sister's life should have been more important to her than any business meeting.
I also didn't like Aaron much. He wanted to be with Violet, but he wanted her to want the same things in life that he did. Since she didn't, he started attacking her choices -- just like her parents did. He knew that she had decided to move away from her hometown, and didn't want to live there anymore. But he just assumed that she would change her mind if they got back together, and then he was angry when she didn't immediately do that.
Finally, Violet's sudden decision at the end just didn't fit with her personality all thru the book. I won't give spoilers, but it was a complete turnaround from her earlier opinions, and seemed to come out of nowhere. I just didn't buy it.
This one gets 2 stars from me. I want my romances to have likable couples, ant this one did not.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Aaron has been in love with Violet since their teen years. He’s always known she’s his mate, but as a human she never knew he was a bear shifter or what mate meant to him. Violet had never been content with their small home town. She felt she was destined for bigger things and after college she relocated far away from Lost Hills, Texas and started her own company. Violet broke Aaron’s heart but his was the kind of love that wanted his mate to be happy, even if that wasn’t with him. They kept in occasional touch but it wasn’t until a tragedy brought her reluctantly home that Aaron realized that he wanted to fight for her to remain at his side. It might be a losing battle, but he had to try.
Renegade is an emotional story. One where I was firmly on Aaron’s side and often found Violet to be so stubborn and set in her own interests that I had real trouble feeling much for her at all. Their story is heartbreaking and realistic, for there are many couples who face some of their problems every single day – and it hardly ever gets easier. Violet has a lot to deal with and she often makes choices that hurt those around her – including herself. Eventually she’ll figure out what is most important to her, but it may come at a cost.
It’s always fun to run into previous couples and in this big family, to run into the siblings as well. I enjoyed Renegade. It’s a story that makes you wonder how you’d react given the same choices. It’s hard to find a win when everyone seems to lose something – but then, that’s life. Compromise is the word of the day. I would recommend this story and this series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. You’ll find strong characters, sexy moments, a good story line and believable characters.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This is the second book in the series but do not worry if you have not read book one this book works fine as a standalone. Though after reading this book you will be dying to go back and read book one. The Grant boys are freaking sexy. Just love me a sexy cowboy. To top that off the Grant boys are bear shifters…. Yum..
This was truly a sweet amazing story. This was about a lost love. Love that was crushed before it could even bloom. I love that fate gave these two a second chance. It is going to take a lot in this story for Violet Olsen to get her priorities straight. They are defiantly not where they should be.
I did love Violet Olsen. She was had this strong personality. She was very career driven and fought hard for what she wanted. She was CEO of TechStart. That is a huge accomplishment. She did not back down to a challenge but the thing about her was her job came before all. Like I said earlier her priorities were out of wack. It took a tragedy to bring her home but then she still was having a hard time seeing what was important. She let love go once, what happens if she turns her back on it again?
OMG, Aaron Grant was this sexy cowboy bear shifter. His family owned and ran Bucking Bear Ranch. One thing I loved about Aaron was he knew what was important in life. He cared for his family. The one thing that clouded his vision was he never got over the love he had for Violet. Now that had to be one strong love for him to be pining for all those years. That is a love so many dream of. I can not imagine the torture he went through every time he talked to her own the phone and now here she was in person. Can his heart take loosing her again?
Sometimes when we are having trouble seeing what is right before us fate has a way throwing us a curve ball to help us get our priorities straight and to also help us fight for what we want. That is what happen to Violet and Aaron. The question is will they embrace what is right before them?
This was such a great story and so glad I got a chance to read the book. So looking forward to the other books in the series.
Violet and Aaron were childhood sweethearts. But life tore them apart. Namely, when Violet left Texas to start a business in California. Her departure left a hole in Aaron's heart in more than one way. Aaron is a bear shifter and believes Violet is his mate.
When tragedy strikes Violet's family and brings her home, Aaron tries to play it cool. But, his bear has been without his mate for too long and pushes Aaron to make a move. Violet has come home but the timing is all wrong. She is this close to launching her business and doesn't have time to be distracted. She is concerned about her family, but also tired of defending her life in California.
No one seems to understand Violet's decision to make a name for herself. No one seems to be proud of or happy for her. They all want her to return home. They just don't get it.
After a passionate interlude with Aaron, Violet flees back to her life and her work. Aaron is left alone and heartbroken a second time. When she discovers that she is pregnant, she informs Aaron but they can't do anything but argue.
The content of this book is very realistic and relatable. Violet went against the grain to create something for herself. Instead of relying on the family business. But there's nothing wrong with being mindful of family values and togetherness. Fighting with family, unrequited love, and balancing work and play are a part of life.
The story of Violet, a young woman who has everything going for her. She got out of a small town, now lives in San Francisco, is building a new company that will make her millions, but at what cost?? During a meeting Violet gets some disturbing news regarding her sister, now she has to choose between her job and her family.
Aaron runs their bed and break, tends to the horses, and to the grounds, but there is still something missing in his life, the one person that tore him up and took his heart. Aaron hasn't seen Violet in ten years, but when he sees her for the first time in over a decade, old feeling come back, but will she stay this time? Can he make her see that she belongs there with him or will her work consume her and take her from him and risk losing her forever like before???
I'll say this though..I wanted to slap the character Violet so bad when I read she was really debating whether to go see her sister or stay and work!!! I was like OH HELL NO!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!...and then, you have Aaron (another one) he was like a puppy dog behind her and just fawning over her, I was once again saying to myself.."OH MY GOD, NOOO STOP!!" BUT...BUT...I got past that and enjoyed how it all played out.
Liv has once again done an outstanding job with this story and can't wait for the next book in the series.
I got this book for an honest review and here it is :)
Violet drop everything to run to her sisters side in their home town of lost hills texas. She was shoot in the mall along with others but they are not sure he sister is going to make it. Going home was the last place she wanted to go. Aaron is a bear shifter and a cowboy who runs his family's farm. He loves the simple life and doesn’t care to much for the city life. He does care alot about Violet and wants her back in his life if he can get her to come home and forget the city life. One hot night of spice has changed both thier lives forever BUT is it enough for her to walk away from her business or her man? Lots of spice and drama in this one. It has great characters and fun storyline. Poor Aaron. Don't miss this one shifter fans it's awesome Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
Love these stories by Liv that incorporate the cousins from curvy bear ranch. This book we meet Aaron who has always loved Nicole (high school sweetheart). She comes back home because her sister gets hurt and sees Aaron for the first time in 10 years. Aaron knows she's his mate but unfortunately Nicole does know about his bear side! I enjoyed this humor, the family and the story and can't wait for the next book.
I voluntarily received this book for an honest review.
The book in the plot was very good however it was very sad that her family nor did Aaron was able to congratulate her or celebrate her for her job that she wanted that she enjoyed with her life but everybody pressured her to give it up for them in their own desires
An amazing story of true love. Unfortunately some people do not see what is right in front of their face. Love can handle almost anything but putting work in front of it is not right. Aaron knew what he wanted but it took Violet a few extra years.
A story about love and healing. Violet is back in Lost Hills, Texas as after her sister is shot, but she has no plans of staying, she wants to get back to big city life in San Francisco as soon as possible. But sometimes what you want and what you need are two different things. Cowboy bear shifter Aaron had waited years for his first and only love, Violet, to come back to Lost Hills, now that she is back, he will do anything to keep her there. She is is fated mate, but he still has not gotten the courage to tell her who and what he truly is. Will she accept him and his inner bear, or will she run away once again?
Sometimes fate needs to deliver a harsh wake-up call.
Liv Brywood has delivered yet another story that's so rich in character development and details that you feel like you know the characters as really good friends and live nearby.
I'd highly recommend this, or any of Liv Brywood's books, if you love a good romance, shifters and bears.
I've read quite a few of the authors books and I have to say they seem to just get better and better. Great writing, memorable characters, no violence, but there is sexual content. It reads fast and once started hard to put down.
This has it all , but it's not going to be easy , it is smart and sexy with lots of fun and laughing also some sad and lonely feelings but it's still a great read . Watch out for the next book in the family.
Violet and Aaron didn't really get a chance to really pursue their relationship before she left to pursue her career. When she comes back, he is sure she is his mate. They still have a lot of difficulties but they do love one another.
This is a great paranormal romance. You can read it as a standalone or read the series. I liked the characters. Violet has her dreams and Aaron is not really honest about his feelings and being a shifter. They have a lot to work through and a pregnancy complicated it too. I like that the author really develops the characters and the issues they face feel real.
Aaron and Violet probably fell in love in high school but her aspirations, college and a successful career took her away from him and her family. Ambition, pride, and denial keep them apart for 10 years. When tragedy reunites them sparks fly, but her ambition is still strong. Maybe strong enough to break both of their hearts. I this character driven story, the depictions ring true. Women maybe more than men today feel the need to succeed, prove their worth. And men just want to act tough. Escape to Texas with this sweet and emotional journey.
violet's sister has been shot while she was at the mall so she drops everything and goes to her and see's her long time love interest and has one night and she cant' leave him before she tells him something that happened one night Aaron Grant is a bear shiftier and he has been letting his mate go and be friends and he is going to stop this and bring her home for good but he has to tell her about his being a shiftier and see if she will stay or go for good. loved this book so good and hot very good story teller too. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Michelle
This was a cute fun read. If you have read Mrs. Brywoods's Curvy Bear Ranch Series then you will know this is a spinoff from it. However if you haven't read that series you will not be lost in the lease starting the new Lone Star Cowbears series. With that said I'm reading about Aaron and Violet and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
This is an amazign series.. Fast paced... sexy.. hott.. and so very wonderful. The characters are full of depth and the emotions i feel from them make me feel as if i am a part of them. The author writes so wonderfully I felt like I was in the story with the characters and could feel what they felt. It was wonderful and im glad i got to review it
Renegade: A Werebear Paranormal Romance Lone Star Cowbears Book 2 by Liv Brywood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ This is the most entertaining story. If you are looking for a romantic, full of passion, fast-paced and heartwarming, then look no further than Renegade. Awesome Read! Warning!!! I love and enjoy everything Liv Brywood writes, she is a very gifted and talented author, I'm a fan and book stalker for life. I enjoy her characters they are engaging, fabulous and fantastic. The dialogue is passionate, realistic, sexy and you will love the interaction between the main characters, the chemistry is scorching hot and they leap off the page with life that's so real. What I enjoy most about her books is that I can always identify with heroine she creates and the heroes are everything I would expect my hero to me. When I read a great book I love to get lost within the confines of its pages and that's one thing I know Liv Brywood has taking care of when I read her books. Renegade is the perfect blend of drama, action, sex and humor! I enjoyed reading Aaron and Violet story!! I became hooked on their story from the first page to the last. Aaron Grant and his family are bear shifters that have a ranch that is next door to the Olsen's. Violet Olsen lives next door she and Aaron were sweethearts until Violet left for college. They have loved each other for a long time and being high school sweethearts but Aaron doesn't understand Violet drive to prove herself. watching the transition of Violet and Aaron as they reconnect and find each other irresistible. It shows that love isn't always smooth, but as they give themselves over to their feeling it's absolutely gorgeous! And it’s all kinds of sexy! Though it doesn’t impact the overall story, I love this series which adds to the overall Cow-bear world, Aaron and Violet’s story is really a roller-coastal ride of emotions, sexy and beautifully romantic. Make room on your TBR for more Lone Star Cow-Bears books. I recommend this book to everyone who loves a steamy romance that's heartwarming. it's a book that I will read again. I voluntarily reviewed this book, because I love sharing my thoughts with my fellow readers!
Title: Renegade Series: Lone Star Cowbears Book 2 Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Liv Brywood Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PRN #BearShifters #4Stars☆☆☆☆ ••••••••••••••••••••••••• Ms. Liv has another Grant Siblings hit, that for sure. Yes, these guys are finding there mates or did they already have them not realizing it? Well time will tell. Violet Olsen is CEO of TechStart, in San Francisco, California where her company was getting ready to IPO ( Initial Public Offering). Her seventy five employees would be sitting pretty when it was finished. Getting papers and Lawyers and government details finished when her dad calls her home to Lone Hills, Texas just outside of Houston. Her sister Nicole has been shot and fell leaving her in Coma after surgery. Going back brings back old memories and decisions have to be made. Aaron Grant is a Black Bear Shifter with his brothers and sister they owned the Bucking Bear Ranch. To make extra money they built some cottages for tourists it all worked out perfect. Even for when you wanted a guest and not let your siblings know. After a decade being without his love she comes back and it's all the same he's still wants her to stay Will she stay? Can he convince her to stay? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
I've got to admit it wasn't a bug fan of Violets through the first chapter. She just seemed to be about work and nothing else, including family. It does come across like that but the more I got to know her the more I got her, but she was still frustrating at times. When she has to go home after her sister is hurt she has to face her family and her first love Aaron, also past decisions.
Aaron a bear shifter and hopelessly in love with the one person who keeps running away. He doesn't understand why Violet is so persistent in staying away from her home town, but he doesn't get in her way. But she comes back in to town he can't help but be near her, no matter how much heartache it causes him.
I couldn't help but feel so bad for Aaron, he has loved Violet forever and even now when she keeps pulling him in and pushing him away, he can't help but keep trying. Him and his Bear are so loyal and ready for Violet, I almost wished he would just throw her over his shoulder and keep her hahaha but he is a gentleman and knew that's not the way to her heart. The funny thing is everyone thinks Violent is a workaholic and a little selfish cause of it, ok so she is a workaholic. BUT you can see how much she cares for people and especially Aaron. She fights with herself on her feelings about them, her family and where she belongs. I got hooked with these two and of course the families and how they get involved
i was given this story for an honest review. loved Aaron and Violet's story!!! with all the bickering came a lot of hot sexiness. when she gets pregnant evetything changes....i highly recommend this story!!!!
Second book in the Lone Star Cowbears series . A story of second chances between Aaron Grant and Violet Olsen. She left Lost Hills, Texas ten years ago and has come back because her sister has been shot. When these two meet again Aaron wants his mate back . What happens ? Will Violet stay? I could not put this book down and I think tonight I will be re-reading it.
I am a fan of Ms. Brywood's books and this is another great one! She pulled me right into the story and brought the characters to life. Violet and Aaron have loved each other for years, but their lifestyles and locations are vastly different. They must decide if their love is worth any changes they would have to make. I highly recommend this book. If you like paranormal romance, you will love this one!
