[Read as single issues]
Collecting issues 12-19 and some supplementary materials from the 2015 and 2016 Free Comic Book Day outings, this second Worldwide hardcover brings back Regent from Renew YOur Vows before setting the stage for the next big Spider-Man event, the Clone Conspiracy, with the Before Dead No More prelude issues.

The Power Play story which features Regent, Iron Man, and Miles Morales is probably the weakest Spider-Man story in a while. It hinges a lot on bickering between Spidey and Iron Man, and Regent wasn't that compelling during Renew Your Vows so that doesn't change much here. The art's great though, because Giuseppe Camuncoli has been doing top work on Spidey for ages at this point so you know.

Before Dead No More sets things back on track, as we check in with different characters as the march towards the Clone Conspiracy begins. With spotlights on Doctor Octopus and Electro, as well as setting the stage for the return of the Jackal, these issues are wonderfully done by Slott as he continues to move his chess pieces around the board he's been building up for years now - plus we get the exquisite visuals of RB Silva, who is an able fill-in for Camuncoli.

This is more of a 3.5 stars rounded up because Power Play isn't the greatest, and if you're not a fan of Slott's long-form storytelling by now then this won't change your mind, but for someone who has enjoyed almost everything Slott has done with the character (and continues to do with him), this is primo Spider-Man stuff.

This story starts off so well, with Pete, Harry, MJ and Betty Brant all socialising, before descending into an out-and-out farce. It is a well-scripted and excellently illustrated story, but still a farce, if you slow down and think about it as you go. If you don’t, then it is actually an epitome of a Spider-Man story; your choice.

If I could rate this book for the opening arc alone it would probably have received 4 stars. Slott makes use of characters from the Secret Wars event to great effect as he continues the adventures of Peter Parker. I really appreciate the growth the character has experienced, the creation of Parker Industries is a great concept. Call backs to The Other storyline and Peter and Mary Jane's time living in Stark Tower were excellent. It is so rare for modern DC and Marvel comics to actively make reference to previous storylines.

Slott continues to find balance with humour and engaging dialogue. Unfortunately this collection becomes bogged down with Free Comic Book Day material and a storyline that leads directly in to a new clone conspiracy. I do not currently plan on reading the clone hardcover so this arc held little appeal for me. I continue to enjoy the overall work of Slott and his excellent artistic collaborators but just have little interest in Spider-Man centric events. Especially those regarding clones...

I love Dan Slott and I love his work on Spider-Man however this volume is a mixed bag. The issues that focus on Slott's larger Spider-Man narrative are as strong as ever but the series losses lots of momentum with the large number of issues revolving around different crossovers and events. I understand that some of these are Spider-Man related but they add nothing to the larger narrative and only slow things down and confuse the reader. Marvel needs to do a better job at collecting up material that makes sense when you read it. The free comic book day content alone is very jarring.

Regent story arc is a bit of fun, except for Peter and Tony starting a fight without reason, more of a meta statement.
The issues before Clone Conspiracy set that up well and are a nice anthology series from lerspectices of people who will be important in that mini event. Enjoy seeing takes from characters who don't get a lot of spotlight.

Peter needs to make a tough decision and it's heart breaking.

A good second hardcover edition of the 'Worldwide' phase of SLott`s Spider-Man run. Regent and Jackal serve as antagonists during two arcs in this book, that were good, if not for some character choices (Pete and Tony) that kept me from fully enjoying the story, but overall, it wastn a disaster. good art, the flow of the story keeps going. If you are still reading this run of spider-Man, keep up.

It's still a nice story. the conflict with Iron Man feels childish but I think that was the point. Regent is an interesting villain but gets away with his plans too easily. The Dead No More prelude does a great job of building up the mystery behind this next spider event

One of the worst Spider-Man stories I have ever had the displeasure of reading. Spidey and Iron-man are written so out of character as to be unbelievable. Artwork is somewhat sketchy as well.

The same story told from a few points of view. The Regent felt a lot like Highlander but it didn't end well for him. Fisk is not someone to cross.
