About the author

Barbara Kramer began writing biographies for children and young adults after following the advice of another author who said, “Write what you like to read.” She remembered how much she enjoyed biographies when she was a kid, especially stories about trailblazers such as David Crockett, Daniel Boone, and Elizabeth Blackwell. She decided that’s what she wanted to write. Her subjects have included historical figures and people in the news. She and her husband live in Iowa with their cat, Katie. They have two grown children and two granddaughters.

Walt Disney by Barbara Kramer is an informational text for children about the ages of 8 and up. This book gives very good information on Walt Disney and his life, including finding art and discovering everyone's favorite mouse. This biography will be very helpful to any young reader who wishes to know more about the famous animator, it would be a great tool for a book report as well.
Informational Text for children can sometimes be a harder genre to get the children excited about, but I think Kramer did a great job with making this book fun and informative. Walt Disney has been an icon for many years and there are lots of things that people don't know about him. Any child would be able to connect to this book because Disney is famous all over the world. You would be hard pressed to find a child that didn't have a favorite Disney movie or watched something on the Disney channel. This book would interest children simply based on the subject, yet Kramer did a very good job at keeping it interesting and not dry.

This fun article would be great for independent reading in the 2nd and 3rd grades. It may excite some students who are hesitant to read because it is about the creator of the Disney films they love so much.

Solid biography - lots of good information and some nifty trivia items. Good use of photographs, as well. "Tricky" words are defined off to one side to help young readers.

I didn't learn much, but that's because the husband and I watched a PBS special on Disney, and then visited Marceline a few months ago.

My favorite character was Walt Disney because he made the world a better place. What surprised me is you can go in Cinderella castle . Yes I would recommend this book because it is interesting.

Walt Disney is a book that explains the journey of Walt Disney’s life. It talks about his childhood, young adult, and middle age life. We learn about Disney’s inspirations along with people who supported and pushed him. We also learn all about his journey to fame and fortune and how all his business came to be what they are today.
The author did a great job of telling the story of Walt Disney. There is a table of contents in the book that helps young readers identify which pages correlate to which specific section of the book they are interested in reading about. The author also included fun facts, a vocabulary glossary, and a quiz at the end of the book.
This is a wonderful book for strong, fluent readers who are in 3rd through 4th grade. I enjoyed the book because it gave the life story of an iconic man who started with little and made literal worlds with his success. I found it interesting that the book contained the glossary to help children learn new words that they may not be familiar with!
