BJORN JORGENSEN’S idyllic life in a small Icelandic village is shattered when his wife, Johanna, is murdered on a boating trip by a troll-like creature lurking in the icy depths of the lake.
Although Bjorn saves his children from the beast, despite his best efforts, he cannot stop the troll dragging his wife to the bottom of the lake.
Racked with guilt, but knowing he must stay positive for the sake of his children, Bjorn tries to rebuild his life in the village.
But the troll has other ideas.
Not content with killing Johanna, three years later, the troll returns to the village looking for more victims. Bjorn, his children and the rest of the villagers have no choice but to flee into the woods or risk being slaughtered by the rampant monster.
While they shelter, once again, Bjorn feels the guilt of not being able to confront the troll that has ruined his life. But alone against the giant beast, he knows he has no chance of defeating it.
Hope comes in the form of a hermit who lives in the woods and claims to possess the secret that will destroy the troll and save the village.
Can the hermit be trusted?
Bjorn must decide whether to risk his life and his children’s future, and conquer his fear to avenge his wife’s death and save the village by slaying the three-headed troll.
