Oh man I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end! I finished it in 4 hours and I'm so sad it's over. The chemistry between Ella and Tyler was off the charts! I love that they have a history and a strong connection to each other. I felt so many emotions while reading. I smiled, laughed, gasped and teared up while reading this book. It was just everything I love in a romance book!! The storyline was good and I didn't see the twist coming at all! The story had romance, comedy and angst. I loved how Ella and Tyler both had issues and needed the other person to complete them. They were an ideal couple, they listened to each other, pushed each other and were there for each other when things got rough. There's a shower scene in the book (not what you're thinking) that will tug at your heart! This book was just excellent!! I loved it so much and everyone needs to read this book and the rest of the series while you are at it!! I love it when I read an author I've never heard or for the first time and her book knocks me off my feet!

Another great addition to Carly's Dare To series, both Tyler and Ellie has trust issues, both let down by their fathers in a big way. On top of that Ellie has always had an interest in Tyler from a young age, but she always thought it one sided and he broke her heart. Now she needs help, someone is targeting her and she doesn't know why. A great story with a bit of mystery thrown in to keep it interesting, we get glimpses of the rest of the Dare family as well as some surprises. This is a love story and its one you almost cross your fingers and prey for the HEA because you feel this couple so deserve to find it. I have loved this series as well as all the add-on's by other authors, each is its own slice of pain and angst originally caused by a selfish father. All are well written, interesting with hot sex and all dealing with slightly different aspects of the same issue. Showing how it affects all the family in ways personal to them but at the same time allowing the reader to empathise and understand how this affects the whole family and the partners joining them.

Dare to Take is a second chance romance and the last in the Dare series. Like the rest of the series, it does NOT disappoint! From the first chapter, I was hooked, and I could not put the book down. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat!
The characters were complex, believable, and likable. Tyler is the co-owner of a security company with a lot of baggage from his past. Ella is the assistant to a fashion designer and best friend to Tyler's little sister Avery. When Ella ends up hospitalized on a tropical island with a hurricane on its way, Avery begs Tyler to rescue Ella. What Avery doesn't know is that Tyler and Ella have a secret they've been keeping, a reason they avoid each other. Can Tyler rescue Ella in time? Who is stalking Ella, and why? Can both of them put the past behind them and make a future?
Despite being part of a series, Dare to Take can easily be read as a standalone. In my opinion, the series just gets better and better with each book, and I'm sad to see it coming to an end. I highly recommend this book and this series!

Tyler Dare, ex-army turned Security Company Owner is one hot alpha male, but what do you expect having two older brother's Ian and Scott fall hard and fast before him. After being asked by his sister (Avery) to go to St. Lucia to rescue her best friend Ella, Tyler knows deep down he can't refuse, because himself and Ella have a history, a history that has had an impact on her life today. Ella Shaw is used to doing things by herself and finds it difficult to trust, when Tyler turns up on the Island to bring her home she comes face to face with a man that she's had a horrible memory with. There is an instant attraction between these two and Carly Phillips takes us on a journey with Tyler and Ella that is full of Love, Suspense and Trust. She writes her novels that totally pull you into the story like you are part of it, I think that's what makes her writing so much better and sets her apart from other Romance Writer's. *Be warned I read this in one sitting and honestly couldn't put it down, so before you start make sure you have time to finish * Brace yourself for an awesome Hot, Sexy Passionate Read

My first Carly Phillips in 16 years, and I’ve forgotten how skilled this author is in writing steamy but heartfelt romances. Dare to Take reminded me of that.
The story is quite simple. Years ago, back when Ella was only 18, she snuck into Tyler Dare’s bed and spent one passionate night with him. The aftermath was one of Ella’s most humiliating experience in her life. She never really got over it. Tyler for his part didn’t handle the situation well. His potent reaction to young and off-limits Ella scared him, but instead of handling it like an adult, he ran.
Tyler Dare has successfully avoided spending alone time with Ella for years. But then Ella got into trouble and is stranded at St. Lucia. At the urging of his sister, Avery, Ella’s best friend, Tyler went down to St. Lucia to take care of Ella, forcing both of them to confront the simmering attraction between them.
Right at the get go, I was invested in Tyler and Ella’s story. Tyler has his own demons, having been an unwitting party to his father’s philandering in the past. It colored his perception about love and relationship. And although he loves his family, he wasn’t quite sure if he’s capable of loving someone. I enjoyed how the author wrote Tyler’s character. He has issues but he’s not damaged by it. He clearly needed to confront them, and confront them he did. I loved how he finally owned up and faced his feelings for Ella head on.
Ella is the same thing. All her life, she’s been abandoned and let down by the people she loved. And what happened with Tyler exacerbated her hurts and it made her believe that she’s not worthy of being loved. But like Tyler, she wasn’t damaged. And I loved the fact that the author gave Ella room to make changes and confront her issues without the help of the magic peen. Her issues didn’t disappear because Tyler Dare finally gave her attention, and I really loved that. It made me believe their connection to each other even more.
Don’t me wrong. The sexy times are plenty in this book, and steamy but it didn’t overpower the plot and the characters’ development, which I appreciate so much.
The whole Dare clan are also present in this book, and I just loved seeing the interaction between the siblings. And you know, it’s great to catch up to what the previous couples are doing.
Overall, Dare to Take is a feel good romance with a good dose of steam. You can never go wrong with feel good romances, so yes, I definitely recommend this book.

DARE TO TAKE is penned as the sixth novel in the DARE TO LOVE series but can be read as a STANDALONE, which is the way I myself enjoyed this lovely romantic and very sexy story. This installment of the Dare to Love series focuses on Tyler Dare and Ella Shaw, respectively the brother and best friend of Avery Dare whom fans of the series will have met in a previous story. It's about second chances, love and healing with a beautiful erotic prose that had me catching my breath.
The third person narrative showcases a romantic, scintillating story about a hero and heroine who once upon a time had an illicit night of passion that stemmed from a teenage crush and by morning was classed as one big mistake. Roll forward nine years and Tyler Dare and Ella Shaw are thrown together by suspenseful circumstance that ultimately showcases their need to seek the opportunity to repair the past. Here is where this lovely romantic and slightly suspenseful story unfolds.
The action of the opening scenes immediately engaged my connection to the story, which was further solidified when I met the charismatic hero, Tyler Dare who’s caring sensitive, loyal to his family and ever so slightly broken from his past. Ella’s expectations regarding life and love have been defined by male figures from her past, promoting insecurities that are depicted with just the right level of emotion from the heroine as the story plays out. The stage is perfectly set with the protagonist’s shared history evoking depth of feeling between the characters allowing for an immediate intense attraction which translates beautifully to the reader within the prose of the story and ensured my investment in their relationship.
At times I found the narrative to over explain the plot lines and aspects pertaining to the emotion of the story. I prefer a touch more subtlety but overall this story made me smile throughout. I loved the depiction of their developing relationship, their past and their present. It’s easy breezy romantic reading with the added bonus of a large family, the dynamic of which is lovely. There’s something super special about stories that portray tight family units, their banter and individual relationships. Despite not having read the previous books in the series I still felt and enjoyed the sibling relationships that are portrayed by the supporting cast of characters with individuality, strength and personality adding an extra layer of depth and provenance to the story. I imagine those who have read this series from the beginning will bask in catching up with the lives of the entire brood.
A warm recommendation from me to all LOVERS of beautifully written ROMANTIC stories that make your heart flutter.

I liked Ella in the previous book so I was excited for her to get her HEA. I was not so sure about Tyler...and to be honest, even by the end, I still wasn't 100% sure he was good enough. But, overall, a good story! Full review on The Book Disciple

Dare to Take is Book 6 and the last story in the Dare to Love Series by Carly Phillips. This is the story of youngest son Tyler Dare and Avery Dare’s best friend Ella Shaw. This is a story of second chances. Or maybe it’s a story of your best friend’s older brother. Yet, it might even be an enemies to lovers story. Could it possibly be all of the above?
One evening, eighteen year old Ella Shaw steps over the line and throws herself at Tyler Dare, her crush. Tyler unintentionally hurts Ella afterward and the two cannot seem to be in the same room without fighting for several years after.
While on a work trip to St. Lucia Ella is mugged and ends up in hospital as a hurricane approaches the island. Concerned, Avery sends Tyler to get Ella off the island and home to Miami. Tyler figures this is a way for him to apologize for his awful behavior years ago.
Tyler has a habit of running away when confronted with difficult situations. He believes he is not a good candidate to have a long lasting relationship. Ella lost her mom at a young age and her dad, when she was 14, when he was imprisoned after a vehicular homicide while drunk. Ella does not trust easily and depends only on herself to take care of herself.
I highly recommend this book to all readers. This book is definitely hot and sexy, but it is also a story about how people can overcome their past, and their fears, in order to turn their lives around, fall in love and move from lovers to life partners. I am sad that Ms. Phillips is ending this series, but am looking forward to see what she has in store for her readers next.

Some much joy and sadness!
My joy:
As with all of the Dare to Love Series, this edition takes you right into the story, like you are actually a part of it. Carly Phillips storytelling is Romantic, Funny, Emotional and Sexy as hell.
Tyler, like all the Dare siblings, has a few residual emotions scars due to Daddy's betrayal of the entire family. Tyler sees things as a teenager and well as an adult that would scar anyone. He is closed off, cautious, emotionally distant and feels he makes all the wrong decisions. All legitimate feelings.
Ella is alone. Has been alone since her mother die of a stroke when she was very young. Having a father that emotional checked out on her, she practically raises herself and learns to depend on no one. Only one person has been there for her, Avery. And her brother, whom she has loved forever, contributes to her insecurities, albeit unwittingly.
When Tyler is asked to go rescue Ella, they finally have a chance to clear the air.
Tyler and Ella are now one of my Favorite H/h in this series.
My Sadness:
That this is the last book in the series. And while I understand the need for new things for an Author to be able to grow at their craft, just know if you ever write the illegitimate Dare Sisters stories, I will be the first to Pre-Order.
In the meantime, know I will read anything you write. So looking for to Kade....Thank you for a beautiful story and a FABULOUS Series.....

I’d previously never read a Carly Phillips book before Dare to Take, but I wanted to read this one because I’m a sucker for the best friend’s older brother trope! I actually zipped through this book so fast – it’s a fun, quick-paced second chance romance that I’d definitely recommend for lovers of the trope!
Ella’s had a crush on her best friend’s brother, Tyler, for ages – but the one night they were together? He shot out of town without even saying goodbye. So to say Ella’s resentful is an understatement, which is why she doesn’t want to be stranded on a tropical island with the man who broke her heart. But the chemistry that existed all those years ago seems to never have died – can Ella resist Tyler when it seems like he’s trying to make amends… and maybe try a relationship again?
Former soldier Tyler Dare has never been able to forget the Ella and their night together, and the guilt he holds only builds as the years go by and he never apologizes. But now that he has the chance, he’s taking it – and taking Ella. Tyler may have a habit of running when things get tough, but he’s now realizing what a good thing he’d have with Ella. Plus, his protective instincts roar to life when they find out that someone’s out to steal something from Ella by any means necessary.
Dare to Take can be read entirely as a standalone, which I was thankful for. After reading this, I’m intrigued now about the other Dare siblings, and I just might read the other books in the series. Carly Phillips wrote a seriously fun and sweet contemporary romance – it’s fairly predictable, but that didn’t lessen my enjoyment. This is the perfect read to get your mind off of things and spend a few hours with a lovely romance.

Dare to Take can be read entirely as a standalone, which I was thankful for. After reading this, I’m intrigued now about the other Dare siblings, and I just might read the other books in the series. Carly Phillips wrote a seriously fun and sweet contemporary romance – it’s fairly predictable, but that didn’t lessen my enjoyment. This is the perfect read to get your mind off of things and spend a few hours with a lovely romance.

So this book can be read as a stand alone, but it is part of a series. I did enjoy reading it, but I think I would probably enjoyed it much more if I had read the other books first.
This book is about Tyler and Ella. Ella is Tyler's sister BFF. They have known each other since they were little. She has crushed on him for years!! One drunken night while she is staying over at Tyler's parents home, she gets it in her inebriated head to show Tyler just how much she wants him. Tyler being a horny young adult, on leave from the army, does not refuse a beautiful girl who crawls in his bed. Especially because it's Ella... Morning after awkwardness scales into epic mistakes that separates them for years with lots of hurt and pain to fill their hearts!
Tyler has had to deal with his very dysfunctional family and carry's a dirty secret from his father that has caused him great harm. He doesn't believe he is any good for anyone, especially Ella. So when his sister calls him and sends him on a search and rescue mission that places Ella smack dab in the middle of his life, he struggles with leaving her alone and making sure he repairs the damage he has caused her.
This book definitely takes you through a lot of emotions and drama, including Tyler's family. There are many characters included that are from the other books. I think I would have been more invested in the story had I read them as some of their struggles are mentioned in this book. You can definitely read it as a stand alone, I just think it would have been much better for me if I knew all of the stories behind this one.

First of all, I technically listened to this book vs read it, which is saying something because normally I can't stand listening to books when the (mostly female) readers try to make different voices and their "man voice" ends up sounding like someone's great aunt who used to smoke 3 packs a day
BUT Sophie Eastlake was definitely better than average. I was also a little iffy when it comes to listening to a steamy scene being read by someone with a "refined" voice...
...but that was not an issue with this actor, thankfully.
The Dare series is about a family of adult children with the last name Dare --- this book focuses on Tyler Dare, a mid-to-late 20-something who was formerly in the armed services and now runs a very successful securities firm while keeping his romantic interests at arms length. The h is Ella Shaw, the best friend of one of Tyler's sisters that he hooked up with several years earlier and handled terribly after the fact.
The story opens with Ella stranded in St. Lucia while on a work trip where she is mugged just before a hurricane is headed to shore. Tyler's sister implores him to use their older brother's private jet to go and get Ella since she has no passport/ID/money/etc. to get back home via usual methods as her purse was stolen in the incident. Her hotel room is also tossed, so it becomes clear that Ella is an intentional target for reasons unbeknownst to her. While there is some tension between the 2 main characters when they first meet up again, the issue is resolved early on so that angst factor does not overtake the plot of the story. From there, Tyler assumes responsibility for determining who is after Ella and why, while Ella (whose mother passed away when she was young, and whose father has not been in her life since she was 14 years old) struggles with her own insecurities and feelings that this relationship with Tyler is temporary as all of her relationships have been in her life to-date.
What I liked about this book:
- the relationship between the main characters is light and cute with some solid chemistry
- the angst issues didn't feel manufactured and were mostly dealt with appropriately so that they weren't stretched out for an overly long part of the story
- it was easy to get into the story as a standalone --- I had not read any of the other books in this series, but I didn't feel as though I was missing key background points
What I didn't like as much:
- the "mystery" factor was pretty obvious, so it was a little frustrating that the female main character didn't put things together sooner
- while the angst wasn't too overblown, the main female character took a little too long in my opinion to get to where she could trust the male main character who had more than gone out of his way to be there for her
Overall, it was an entertaining story that I would recommend to anyone looking for a cute yet steamy read regardless of whether they have read the previous books in the series.

I admit, I was a Carly Phillips virgin before I started DARE TO TAKE, and I must say, I would like MORE please! I was nervous going into this, seeing that this was book #6 in a well established series, but after being assure that it could be read a standalone, I was all in. I agree that DARE TO TAKE can be read as a standalone, however, I can't help but feel like I would have 5 STARRED this baby if I had a little bit more background with Ella and Tyler. That is not to say, I didn't enjoy it, because I did. The writing was great. The chemistry between characters was great. The suspense factor gave it just what it needed to keep me hooked. But I like connect 100% with the lead characters, and I feel like I only got to about 80%. It was quite brilliant in a way, because now, I want to start from the beginning of the series and get the full picture on all of these wonderful characters. My TBR just got a whole lot bigger!

Tyler and Ella get their second chance after their horrible night many years ago that did not end well. Now, Ella is stranded in St. Lucia and a hurricane is predicted. Tyler is sent to rescue her and sparks ignite. WOW! Sparks not only ignite but these two have so much chemistry and yet both are determined to remain independent. Yea, right. It was so much fun to watch these two fall...I am really looking forward to the spin off and hope we get a look back occasionally at this family.

As much as I hate to see this series come to an end what a way to finish.. Tyler has lived with too much guilt for too long and it is about time he let it go and start living but that is easier said than done. Ella has always been in love with Tyler but the past has a hold on her that she has trouble overcoming. . when Ella is in danger Tyler will do anything to protect and prove to her that he wants and needs her.. Seeing everyone including his mom come full circle and being happy and attached leaves Ian with a feeling of contentment and love..

I recently discovered Carly Phillips late last year and ever since then I knew this author would make her way into my auto one-click list. And in her newest release, Dare To Take, Ms. Phillips has once again taken the hearts of her readers.
Sexy, heartfelt, and swoonworthy are the words that comes to mind when reading a Carly Phillip’s book. And Dare To Take was no exception. This book was S-E-X-Y and had one of my favorite tropes. That’s right...best friend little sister romance!!!
Since I don’t want to spoil the book for the readers since this book was a quick read, I will just say that Ms. Phillips incorporates a wide array of elements into this storyline from family, second chances, passion and of course a sprinkle of suspense thrown into the mix. If you love a story that has the power to pull those heartstrings and have you swooning, then this book is for you. Ms. Phillips has truly delivered a story that will have you devouring this book in one sitting and wanting to go read the beginning of this series. The writing is clean, the story line is sexy and so why not go read this book and dare to love this series and book.

It was great to watch them both get over whatever problems and fears they had with commitment and whatnot and to finally DARE to be with the one that got away!!!

Dare to Take was an enjoyable and quick read. It is second chance romance but also a forbidden story between a man and his love for his sister’s BFF. This book had a little bit of everything. We had some laughter, love, suspense and a little bit of drama to keep the reader turning the pages.
Dare to Take is the 6th and I believe the final book in the Dare to Love Series by Carly Phillips. It is a stand alone novel but has some reoccurring characters from past books, because this series centers around the Dare Siblings. I am usually the type of reader that has to read a series in order, but for some reason this book called to me and I read this before reading any of the other books. I didn’t feel lost at all, Carly did a fantastic job filling in any of the missing components so that I could follow along without any trouble. I found the storyline engaging and entertaining, so I never felt that the story dragged on. I felt the pace and flow was spot on. This is my second read by Carly Phillips and I am a fan for life. Now I need to go back and read all of the rest of the books in this series :) I have definitely fallen in love with Carly's writing style, creative stories and lovable characters. Plus she knows how to write one steamy love story ;)

From page one she sucks her readers in and doesn’t bog down her stories with a lot of build up or information that the reader doesn’t need. She also doesn’t overload the story with a lot of excess drama. The drama that was created in this story was because of the demons that both Tyler and Ella needed to overcome. The drama is pretty short lived in this story. I also loved that she added the aspect of suspense to this storyline…she kept me guessing ;) I also really enjoyed the epilogue in this book, because it seemed to wrap up the Dare Sibling stories and also introduced the new Hero to her new series that is coming out. I look forward to reading Kade’s story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Carly Phillips and also a fan of second chance romances or forbidden sister bff’s stories. If you like a quick, sweet and sexy read then this is the book to pick up and enjoy. It will leave you with a smile on your face.

You always want what you can't or shouldn't have. It's alluring and gets your hormones racing. Tyler and Ella are burning up the pages in this book with their undeniable heat for each. Succumbing to their night of desires and passion leads them the next day in the least expected way. Now Ella needs Tyler again but for a totally different reason. A thrilling story that will keep you consumed and on the edge of your seat!

Fixing Past Wrongs
Tyler Dare is pretty good at setting the wrong impressions when it comes to Ella Shaw. I agree with him that he really messed up with her when she was 18. Not only did she completely misinterpret the situation post-coital, but it set the stage for further issues. Oh, how I feel for her.
Warning bells went off in her head, but she was too far gone to heed them. Until his fingers slid up her sides, gliding over her skin, reaching beneath her shirt, and coming to rest beneath her breasts.

Despite the poor impression that this starts with, I think Tyler redeems himself in a couple of ways. I really like how he shows up and shows out for Ella and his family. Overall, another wonderful addition to the Dare family saga.
I read along with the audio book. The narrator is Sophie Eastlake, who provides a good and consistent listening experience.

The memories from the past, the painful circumstances that caused them to be completely awkward and distant around each other war with the obvious lust and attraction between them to make for one seductive storyline. But more than a romance, Dare to Take is peppered with suspense and drama as Tyler does what he must to protect Ella from an unexplainable trail of harm following her around. Rife with sensuality, danger, and emotional familial drama, this story is a thoroughly layered romance that I simply got lost in.
Believe it or not, this is my first Carly Phillips book. I know! That's crazy! This author has so many books out, many of which I own, and I've not read her until now. But this book just ensured that I'll be binge reading Carly Phillips ASAP. Her writing is clean and her storytelling is exciting and emotional and sexy all at once. Phillips is your quintessential romance novelist, classic yet contemporary, painting an exquisite picture of raw romance at it's very best. I'm not typically a reader that enjoys third person narrative. I'm also not a reader that typically enjoys the sort of over the top antics and drama within these pages. But from the very first chapter I was hooked. I devoured this book hungrily. I loved everything about it from the premise to the refreshing writing style to the unexpected way the characters pulled at my heartstrings. I fell in love with the Dare family in this story and now I MUST go back to the beginning and read the others. I'm officially a Carly Phillips fan. Dare to Take a chance on this author, if you haven't already. And if you haven't been living under a rock like I obviously was and you already know what a rock star writer and storyteller she is, you surely won't be disappointed with this one!

Even though this is Book #6 in a series, it can be read as a standalone. Carly Phillips is a New author to me and I absolutely fell in love with this book.
I loved the connection between the two main characters, Ella and Tyler and felt the passion with them from the start.
Ella and Tyler both have a history together and one that didn't end very well. When Ella gets stranded away from home, Tyler goes out to get her and bring her home. The pair definitely have a lot to talk about and as they begin to spend more time together, walls are broken down and past demons are faced.
Can Ella and Tyler face their troubles together or will the walls come back and the past left well alone?
I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance and will most definitely read the rest of the books in the series.

These Dare men are quite the alpha guys, they don't like being disturbed when it comes to alone time with their women, and Tyler is no exception, "he rolled onto his back with a loud groan. “Whoever it is, it’d better be a effing emergency,” he muttered and dragged himself out of bed. No shame whatsoever, he strode naked to her side of the mattress..." I really enjoy this series, the Dare men are one of a kind.

4.0 Short Stuff Stars!!!
Dare To Take is a lighthearted, fast paced,sweet and adorable read with a little angst but full of love and romance which undeniably warmed my heart and made me swoon and laughed and at the same time made my heart leaped a bit that follows the story of Tyler and Ella - both an adorable and sweet character with Tyler in his alpha sexiness that made me smile and fall in love. Ahhh just perfect for my day!
To be real honest, I regret that I read only this book in the series. Like what the hell??? This is the 6th book and the final book in the series and it may be a standalone but eff if I did not regret not reading the previous books in the series! I was ashamed of myself because My God Carly Philips really did not disappoint. It was just a short read but it was full of emotions and I was hooked the moment I started reading the book. And do you know what first piqued my interest?

My reaction?
And boy, I was not disappointed really! I love how the story started. It may have somewhat a cliche vibe but overall the story is just really beautiful. As it progresses it made me more invested. That feeling when you swooned over the characters and made you feel like it was you in there and not them? Yeah I feel that while I was reading this. It's not normal for me because this story is just so light but nah don't underestimate it because this book will definitely give you more. The emotions was just all over, there's even this scene that really made me ache and wanted to just bottle up Tyler because wow and wow I just fall in love with him. The characters' interaction to each other is just so strong and full of chemistry. The way they resolved each other's baggage clearly shows how strong they are and not some kinda "lady in distress'' and 'knight in shining armor" type. My only complaint though is that it ends sooner than I wanted. Because boy, I want their love story not to end yet, seriously! I get it that this is a second chance love story but I am still looking forward to more of their interactions. Even the conflict although one of the highlights of the story seemed to have been resolved too fast but how it turned out though is real good despite it.
If you'll gonna ask me if I recommend it? OH YES I DEFINITELY WILL!!!
To Carly Philips, great job on the book! I can't even wait to read your up coming release. That sneak peek at the end of Dare To Take? Man! I just can't wait to get my hands on it.
