Chronux by sagar kamath is a unique blend of science and philosophy aiming to unfold the mysterious questions about time and it's exemplification in the form of a tale.
This is one of those huge books with the volume divided into 6 episodes that are further split into chapters.
The flow that has been maintained while different events waver in different periods of time is commendable.
One must not forget to appreciate the deep research done by author before presenting different facts and concepts of science with such precision.
Books can take you to places you've never been to and the same applies to Chronux where you might experience kind of time travel too.
Those who love to read science fiction have so much here like the ideas and difficulties related to interstellar communication, which I myself find overwhelmingly interesting

Though, there were times when I felt a bit disconnected because of the less concise explanation of events in history.
The simplicity of language used is the reason why it can be recommended to starters without having a rigorous scientific or philosophical background.
The book cover seems catchy owing to the use of colors for the title and its background.

The story of Chronux starts in a small village called Aruhu, located at the foothills of the Himalayas in the year 3067 B.C.E. The villagers of Aruhu lead a simple life when one night they are awakened by the sound of explosions and mysterious lights. This marks the arrival of a stranger into their life’s who has an aura of mystery surrounding him. As time passes this stranger helps the villager to lead a better life and is revered by all. As mysterious as his appearance this stranger leaves the village suddenly leaving behind some relics and a crystal that looks like an unblossomed flower. The relics fascinates all and piques the interest and curiosity yet evokes a sense of fear.

The story then moves to Germany where Hitler is slowly rising to prominence with the rise of many fringe groups and the growing fascination with the concept of racial superiority. The world is on the brink of witnessing a second world war with brutality on the rise. Hitler’s men are on a hunt to find something which can prove their theory of racial superiority.

Amidst all this time keeps moving on but is time really real? Is time just viewing all these developments like a mute spectator? Are the people changing the time or is it time that is making us act and dance to its tune? Does time have some secrets that it has to bare the burden of? This book takes you on this journey where time is your steady companion all along.

The chapters are short and end in an inquisitive way that captures your attention. The writing is simple and crisp. The author has really triumphed in character development. World building is strong. Though the novel has huge time gaps the author has structured it very well that gives you a sense of continuity. Though this novel is a mix of many genres like science fiction, historical fiction, and mythologically retelling it has been balanced well by the author. I just felt that the book could have been shorter by around 50 pages as I found the last part a little dragging. Yet the last chapter of the book completely astounded me and gave me chills.

Mix a brilliant idea with a very impressive knowledge of mythology, science fiction, global history across centuries. Add in a devilish series of plot twists, culminating in the very best one at the end. Garnish with interesting facts and vignettes. You have a work of fiction that entertains, informs and thrills - which is what Chronux is. Recommended reading

Mankind always wanted secret to ultimate power. Some secret device which can make powerful like god. A device so powerful which can make anyone omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent.

Story starts with legendary Mahabharat warrior Ashwathama. His “MANI” is sorce of unlimited power. After the war he reaches an obscure Himalayan village Aruhu. He teaches the people the secrets of stars and the MANI. After many generations two friends Bharata and Arhiti come face to face power of Chronux in their childhood and are terrified beyond imagination. After the incident Bharata goes missing only to come back year later in a deadly Avatar. Story moves forwards and backwards from Aruhu to Nazi Europe to year 3067 AD in future.

The story moves at different times during many eras. It has interesting concepts like SETI. Scientist are trying to establish contact with other intelligent species by sending signals. The fundamental problem with inter stellar communication is the sheer amount of time that it takes for any information to get through , even travelling at the speed of light. So teacher alternative was to make signal intelligent of their level. The other problem was aliens can be either benevolent or malevolent. So we have to be prepared in case they want to attack us.

Chronux is an imaginary stone which can make man like God and can transcend time boundaries. It can merge individual with the whole cosmos.

The story is much stretched, repetitive and non-fiction like most of the time. The connections between many eras is not established. The plot is non-existent. The Nazi Germany part reads like a history text book on Second World War. I felt whole paragraphs were copy pasted from history books. Similar is the case with SETI portions. There are very few characters and there is no drama or plot. It felt like a jumble of many different stories, histories, scientific books etc. I could not make a head and tail of it. It is so streaked and boring that it became very difficult to finish it and I skipped at many places without any difficulty.

Recommendation and rating:

I would recommend it to those who like to read a mishmash of history, mythology and science fiction books. I give the book 2/ 5 stars.

This is the story TIME wants to tell us...this is the story of Chronux.

Chronux is the debut book by author Sagar Kamath. Chronux was published on 9th March 2017 by Become Shakespeare. Com. It is a fiction philosophy book. The cover page of the book is blue in colour having the title of the book written in bold red colour making it very attractive and catch to the eyes.

During our more 'Philosophical' moments...we have all wondered about 'Time'...its true nature...and its impact on us! But what if?...'Time'...had similar concerns...about us? Chronux is a long book divided into six episodes each having about 20-25 chapters dealing with different eras. It starts from the story of a small village of Aruhu in the Himalayan foothills in which a stranger arrives.

Chronux is a very beautifully written book having a blend of past, present and future. The book is very well researched by the author having elements of science, fiction, history and philosophy. The book is written in a simple language. At some points technical words as well as graphics are used. The book takes a reader to different places like foothills of Himalayas, Hiroshima Nagasaki etc. The book revolves around time which is the main element of everybody.

Overall, a very different read having element of past, present and future together making it a thrilling and an engaging book. This book is highly recommended to everybody.

Historical fiction is one of my favourite genre and I love devouring a book that has any remote resemblance to events that happened in the past especially those with a large scale importance. It is amazing how more and more books are mixing the retelling of historical events with a generous dose of science, and Chronux belongs to one of these hybrid genres.

This book starts with the story of Aruhu, a village located at the foothills of the Himalayas in the year 3067 B.C.E. A sudden arrival of a stranger changes the course of the village and brings mass destruction and tragedy to the residents. The story takes us to the Nazi Germany, ruled by Hitler and we, the readers witness the initial stage of racism and torture propagated by the Nazis. Time or Chronux plays a huge role in the storytelling and leaves us in thrill and awe.

The book, evidently, is a product of much researched work and the facts and theories stated in the book are hardly questionable. The author sure knows his grounds and doesn’t fail to play on them. Also what really caught my attention was the brief and to-the-point initial chapters.

However, the facts and the story line were majorly disconnected and I got a little distracted after a while. The facts that could have been interwoven intricately into the story ended up feeling like too much information and less of a fictional read. It was stretched and occasionally felt like a history book.

If you absolutely love history and don’t mind reading long stretches of paragraphs about historical events, then I would recommend this book to you.

A word about the author first.
Sagar Kamath teaches History and International Affairs at Symbiosis International University.
He is a Masters in History and Philosophy and has almost a decade of teaching experience. He has lectured extensively on a wide range of subjects ans specializes in issues of religion and politics.
In his free time he loves to explore 'off the beaten track'locales which hold a sense of mystique about them.

Chronux is the story of Time or let's put it this way that Chronux is a story which time tells us about of times past to times in the far future and the times spent inbetween.

The story which starts from a a small village of Aruhu,in the Himalayas takes you on a roller coaster ride through a span of more than 3000 years BC to more than 3000 years in the future, not to forget the time in the present.

It's a wonderful Juxtaposition of the long past events mingling with the present and the future.

Although a work of fiction a tremendous amount of research has gone into the making of this absolutely rivetting story of Time.

The events described whether in the past, present or future are so realistically portrayed that at times you pause and find that yes all this could be very plausible and true.

Really a remarkable piece of storytelling wherein you feel you are a part of this journey.

The events described from the past, present and future are beautifully intertwined and does leave one dazed at the aouthor's imagination and the finesse to put things up so brilliantly.

A must must read for everyone.

Go grab your copy now and enjoy a never before experience of fiction/reality.

Find out for yourself.

The book starts in 3067 B.C in the Himalayan foothills. We get to know about a small village called Aruhu between the mountains. The villagers find an injured man out in the forest who seems to be a bit different than them. He is very knowledgeable and the villagers start to look up to him and worship him. Eventually, the man leaves the village and years after that, strange things start to happen in the village.

The book felt like it was being narrated by an old entity. In this case, it was “time” The writing was fluid and relatively good but it had some faults. There were too many exclamation marks and there were some words in between lines written in block letters that i found very disrupting.

There is no one plot-line in the book. It is centered around some fictional and some historical events. It goes back and forth between different eras and gives a detailed account of the incidents. There are elements of science-fiction and philosophy as well. The book is clearly extremely well-researched and I highly admire that. However, there was not enough of a story to keep me interested. There were long theories and accounts that got a bit tiresome to read.

I feel this book is not for everyone and would appeal to particular types of readers. If you’re into history and philosophy and don’t mind reading long books, I definitely recommend this.

“I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.”

Chronux

Review By Ila Garg

Chronux, a novel by Sagar Kamath, is published by BecomeShakespeare.com. The cover seems quite unusual at first glance! It looks like a horror book. But if you look closely, you will see the clock hand and if you are a visionary like me, you would be able to actually visualize the clock in the backdrop. Anyway, as you will go on reading the book, the cover will start making sense by and by.

Sagar Kamath teaches History and International Affairs at Symbiosis International University. With a Masters in History and Philosophy and over 9 years of experience in the teaching sector, he has lectured extensively on subjects ranging from global history to modern day geopolitics and specializes in issues of religion and politics. An avid storyteller, he has spent years researching humanity’s intricate interplay with the natural world, and believes that events like World War II serve to highlight the best and the worst, we as a species are capable of. In his free time, Sagar loves to explore ‘off-the-beaten-track’ locales that have a sense of mystique about them.

The blurb reads as, “During our more 'Philosophical' moments...we have all wondered about 'Time'...its true nature...and its impact on us! But what if?...'Time'...had similar concerns...about us? Chronux is the debut novel of Sagar Kamath, an expert of History and Philosophy. It is a 457 pages long read, meant only for serious readers.
Plot
Title and the cover of the book make no sense until one delves into the text. Chronux is a fictional work of Kamath, which encompasses three interesting subjects, namely - modern physics, History and philosophy. The whole book is divided into multiple episodes. Author has chosen a hamlet- Aruhu and scenes from world war 2 ridden Germany and by juxtaposing these two he begins a long tale of chronux (time). until here the genre is resticted mainly to intricacies of world history..and the book is easily comprehensible to everyone. It is in the next episode that the story takes a leap into 3067 A.D. and suddenly the pages are filled with esoteric terms understood only by physics enthusiasts (like me). After this episode the plot shifts to the quest of Nazi germans to prove their racial superiority by unfurling the forbidden truth hidden in a lost village called Shambhala, amidst the Kailash montain in Tibet. Will this truth be unearthed? will the curiosity of human mind be satiated? Answers to these questions lie in last few chapters and Kamath places Philosophy at the crux of all these answers.
Writing Style
All through the times, while I was reading Chronux, I found a remarkable similarity between Dan Brown and Kamath's writing style. Three reasons why I say so?
One, Both have given detailed and well versed account of the subject in hand. Brown talks a lot about secret societies and so does Kamath, in Chronux.
Two, Akin to Brown's works, Chronux adds a lot to reader's knowledge base. Lucid description of second World war, contemporary geopolitical scenarios and verses from varied mythologies from across the world, shifts the book to whole new level. And this particularly makes the reader feel accomplished and Chronux - an interesting read.
Three, use of italicized text to deliver the change in tone of narration is another feature prominent in their writings.
Aforesaid pros are overshadowed by the cluttering of too many subjects in one book and an average plot. Kamath's mature story telling, in depth knowledge of historical accounts and understanding of behavioural philosophy imparts him a lot of potential. Chronux could have been a masterpiece but there are few loopholes which remain unplugged.
My Verdict
I personally enjoyed this book and would surely recommend to all those who look forward to serious reads. As far as the author is concerned I can say for sure that India is soon going to have an international best- selling author, given that Mr. Kamath keeps a check on what needs to be included and what not. After all we are in times where Less is More!

Can mythology, history and science ever meet? Can these be neatly segregated into watertight boxes and labelled accordingly? Can one explain the other? What is the nature of existence? Why is change a constant? Only time can tell. In his debut novel Chronux, Sagar Kamath has attempted to throw an oblique light on these questions and then some. Lest you think it is some spiritual treatise, let me say that it does not purport to be one. It fits squarely in the genre of fiction though of course its hard not to feel a bit mystical and transcendent at times. Mr. Kamath has manged to craft a splendid plot and embellish it with many creative twists, turns and surprises to keep you hooked. The plot moves at a rapid clip and there is never a dull moment in each of the six episodes – distinct periods of time- that the book is divided into. On the plus side the plot and its central premise is largely credible and Mr. Kamath must be complimented for imbuing his narrative with sufficient detail to satisfy die-hard history factophiles. He draws liberally from various mythological and historical traditions and manages to give them an imaginative workout. At the same time his lucid style makes even knotty aspects of particle physics within easy reach for the layman. The book does have some blemishes, more editorial in nature, which in the grander sweep of the story are quite niggling. Still they do manage to be an annoyance much like mosquitoes that buzz near your ear and which you have hard time ignoring. The punctuations especially commas and semicolons are misplaced in numerous places; there are a few grammatical and spelling errors. Also in abundance are exclamation marks, italicized and uppercased words &statements and multiple dots indicating pauses- although this could also conceivably part of the plot device. They don’t take anything away from the story but a more judicious use could have polished the narrative nicely. Nevertheless, the book does make you sit up and think hard about the nature of our universe and whether we really have the power to shape the future we want. Optimists and positive thinking gurus would have you believe so but perhaps the ancients had a point when they enigmatically stated that the world is an illusion-maya. Read this mindbender of a novel to find out one reason why.

The concept of time has inspired and fascinated us, ever since we became bipedal, and this book is a sure proof of that.  Chronux is a book which takes you to a ride in past, and future as if you were sitting in a time machine.

It starts with the story of Ashwathama, a Mahabharat warrior. After Mahabharat he goes to an Himalyan village Aruhu. There he teaches some star secrets to the villagers, and also shares about his source of ultimate power. After some time he leaves that place and till generations villagers keep on worshiping him.

But after many generations, two friends  Bharata and Arhiti come face to face power of Chronux in their childhood and are terrified beyond imagination. After the incident Bharata goes missing only to come back year later in a deadly Avatar. Story moves forwards from Aruhu to year 3067 AD in future to Nazis in Europe.

The story jumps from one place to another. Author has divided book into multiple episodes which are written in favor of one major incident from history like bombing of Hiroshima-Nagasaki, Hitler, Nazis etc.

Starting of the novel or I must say first 30% of the novel is quite fascinating and interesting. But after that somewhere it becomes too boring, and feels to hard to finish. At so many places it feels as if am reading any article related to Nazis or Tibet on google. But in spite of this some boring part I like author's imagination, and the way he has tried to link present, past and future in a scientific manner is quite commendable.

Few of the lines used in novel are pretty good...

Like - As brutal as the war is, the end is even darker.

And

To gain everything, you must be prepared to lose everything.

For starting part, for me its a Five star work, but apart from that it fails to keep you glued to it. Even cover is not that much fascinating.

Overall, a good science fiction work including some historical events too.

For Cover : 3/5

For Starting and Imagination : 4/5

Mahabharata is an epic that was most interpreted in the fictional arena. There has been a surge of books from the view point of practically every character. Chronux is not a fictional adaptation of Mahabharata but it is an extension of the epic with a deeper insight.
The tales is supposed to be starting from 3067 BC. A stranger arrives at a village called Aruhu on the foothills of Himalayas. His arrival itself is under mysterious circumstances but he villagers treat him and help him recover from his injuries. In return he provides a star chart that changes the lives of the villagers forever. A mix of mythology, astronomy, history, philosophy and astrology is used to create a literary potion. Author has apparently used his knowledge in history and mixed it up with fantasy.

The book cannot be counted as a mere fantasy book. The chronology, sociology, geography and geopolitical stands of the characters are derived from actual facts. For instance, from a few lines in Mahabharata about the solar eclipse, lunar eclipse and constellations, author has derived the time 3067 BC as the period when the stranger arrives, as it is, according to him, the period when Kurukshetra war took place and stranger is related to a major character in the same.

Likewise, the story leaps from decades to centuries. The plot is multidimensional, hence a detailed account of the happenings might end up as a spoiler. There is too much happening in the book that it is like an overloaded bud. Every passenger has to reach the destination but if some had opted for another one, it would have been a risk free trip. But everyone has to reach on time. Time is the protagonist.

"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, the man who never reads lives only one. ” The essence of reading can be very well summed up by this quote but it increases manifold when one puts his hand on such an intellectual read which not only gives you a sense of maturity, self-belief but also enlightens your soul like no other book can ever do.

In chronux , various stories of past , present and future runs parallely and the author has done a commendable job to blend all with utmost ease. The transition has been so smooth that one is indeed in awe of such gripping account.

I always strongly believe a book should impart some knowledge in any form and should strive a person to become a better human being . Chronux has all such elements in precise amount. Its uniqueness completely bewilders me.

It dawns light not only on technology field but also touches upon philosophies , moral science and relate it with history which shows the firm grip of author over his subject of expertise.

Time has always fascinated me since times immemorial. The way author has personified time has further raised my interest in this tale of nature . The blurb is spot on too. It raises the appetite in reader's mind to get their hands over the book. There are points where the story is a bit stretched too much and loses its sheen but all in a very sincere attempt by author . My 3.5 stars to this enthralling experience .

PS- Special thanks to Nishant Joshi for providing me with the review copy in exchange of an honest review.

Time is the most valuable commodity today, if you have time you can conquer anything. And book Chronux has showcased the same. The importance of time...

The book starts with the beautiful mysterious place called 'Aruhu', and how its life changes with the appearance of a strange visitor. People there learn all sorts of things from him and when they are getting used to him, he just vanishes into the thin air. However what he leaves behind are not some simple relics but the most precious items that may turn the tides of time.

The story jumps from one place to another. Author has divided book into multiple episodes and all link wonderfully. The narrator has done a good job while binding them together. Each episode is written in favor of one major incident from history like bombing of Hiroshima-Nagasaki, Hitler, Nazis etc. The way certain events have been described, you tend to feel 'did it really happen this way?'

The linkage of 'past, present and future' is also very impressive. And while reading you can feel the level of research author must have done to make this book a reality. It is commendable.

What I didn't like about the book are two things - firstly its cover. It simply puts the book under 'ordinary' category and doesn't do justice to what pages hold. Maybe for next edition author can choose a better cover. Secondly, the story although is impressive but loses essence from time and again.

Overall, it is a pretty nice read and my rating is 3.5/5

The story is beautifully connected with different eras one can ever imagine. From the Vedic age to the age where humans start to inhabit in the different planets of the solar system. With mindboggling 'time' and 'space' theories, the book claims that TIME is a living entity that watches us. TIME sets traps for the 'curious minds' and thus this is the story of TIME that TIME itself narrates.
'Chronux' is an absolute enthralling and engrossing read, one the comes back in your dreams. I generally have a fetish for thriller fictions and this book consumed me. I stayed up late at night reading this informative read as this is a total page-turner and this is the first book based on the concept of 'time' that I read. This book can be easily hailed as the likes of Dan Brown and Ashwin Sanghi. As a thriller fiction lover I would blindly recommend this to all fellow thriller fiction lovers.

an intriguing cover title with different plot idea.

Chronux is the debut book by Mr. Sagar Kamath.
The book is comes under the category of historical fiction and philosophy.
This book is divided into several chapters. Which is concluded to easy understanding of each paragraph in different phase. And also it continues the splendid surprise and mistries whis attracts mostly every reader. The listed scenarios are depicted from different places and spots all over the globe.
The chapter which contains the description on a small village of aruhu in the Foothills. What I liked most in alover the book.
The book contains the documents co-related with present , past , and future.
Which is proved that it takes immense patience and a reaserch which is takes place from roots. Weather it is Foothills of Himalaya or the dreadful incident of hirosima and Nagasaki.
It is really worth of reading. And the blurb is beautifully ornamented. And the plotting idea is just awesome.
So I personally request all bookseekers and avid reader to go through this book once. hope you people's really enjoy it.

The significance of time, its evolution that brought into existence the profoundness we dealt with today power, discoveries and unwrapping the mysteries left behind all came with nothing but time!!
A beginning of the era of living and evolution Chronux retells the tale in an amusing way.

the book is divided into 6 episodes, each episode with a different era and story of Aruhu, when a stranger arrives with mysterious gemstone and guides the people with knowledge of the star planetary system and leaves suddenly into the thin air.

the history continues with the Nazi civilization and the Hiroshima Nagasaki destruction and different planets of the solar system and back to Germany.
Search to find divine power and led to many happenstances happened in real life are also mentioned in the slides.
Historical facts glued with mystery and the Awakening message that the lure of time impinged on mankind is all spined into thick pages.

Author's world: Research of author is surreal and appealing, minute details are stated, but the storyline doesn't intrigues to read ahead the cover doesn't match with the story too.
I wished it had a quiet flow with the topics, they were good and unique, but I wished the author has given more effort to make it more bending on to the readers' interest.

Expecting more work ahead ❤

For a debut novel, the sheer range of imagination in Sagar Kamath’s Chronux will surprise you. The author doesn’t hold back – he takes you full-tilt on a journey transcending time and space. There’s pre-historic India, World War II Germany, a slice of Japan, an epic expedition to Tibet and even a glimpse into a frightening future. And, no, he doesn’t stop there…he takes you in the cosmos as well.

But this is not a fantasy novel. This is science-fiction and history merged at its best. As a professor of history, Kamath’s history is remarkably spot-on. His descriptions of Nazi-era Germany seem frighteningly accurate. But where he excels is the way he fuses the science into his story. The premise is that “Time” is a sentient entity and the way he builds it up doesn’t make you feel that you have to take a leap of faith to believe….pure science can do.

A refreshing debut from an Indian novelist, something which we haven’t seen before. Read, just for the journey Chronux will take you on

First of all, hearty congratulations to the author on his debut!

I would give full marks to the cover designer for designing such a beautiful cover meticulously while taking care of the story and plot of the book. The paper quality and the cover quality are really very nice!

Coming to the book, the story’s finesse is evident by the amount of research the author has done on it. The facts, the blend of myths and reality and wrapping them up in a package which “Chronux” is definitely going to leave a mark on the mind of many readers.

One of the very strong aspects of this book is the narration style. The narrator seems to talk to you throughout the book and never lets you feel bored of it.

The plot is interesting and well paced.

The book has a rich vocabulary and so does the author. I would recommend the book to those who are interested in Time and adventures related to it.

Characterization could have been a little better.

An entertaining product from a debutante is really commendable.
