Beach House was a favorite of mine in 1994/1995. The 1950's setting was unique and back in my early teens I was in love with so many things from that era. I couldn't get enough of Buddy Holly and James Dean.
Beach House had just the right vibe to keep me flipping the pages, but Beach Party was a bit of a bummer due to repetitiveness and the fact that I didn't understand Karen at all. It had some decent chapters, but it could have been better overall.
Karen's friend Ann-Marie who had moved from Los Angeles two years earlier came to visit her from New York, and proceeded to behave as though Los Angeles and its surroundings were foreign to her. It made little sense that Ann-Marie acted as though her hometown was some obscure place after being gone for a measly twenty-four months versus fifteen years of living.
The Vince situation was quite irritating and the book could have done without the character as he was pointless.
Book Review #6) Wow, just wow is all I could say... There was so much suspense... In both stories (There were two stories). One story, the first one, was about this girl named Karen Mendell. She was just moments away from meeting her friend, Ann-Marie. Basically, they are on summer vacation. They then meet some boys who have a little "fun" with them. One of the boys' name was Vince. You could tell that Vince liked Karen from the beginning. Then two guys, Jerry and Marty, come and "save" them from the other group of guys. Then they all go and hang out at this pizza place. The two girls meet the girlfriends of the two guys who saved them. Afterwards, things get a little out of hand. I don't want to give it all away, so I'm going to continue. In the second story, it has a little more fantasy in it. Some "magic" is in it. The story keeps switching from the year 1956 to the present year of the book. At the beginning, there will be a bunch of teens playing pranks/jokes on each other. One of them (Buddy) gets p.o.ed because of the prank. He then gets revenge... By murder. He ends up killing all his friends, one by one... There's a twist at the end apparently, but I don't want to say it... I've told so much already.
I feel like I'm at the locations that the author, R.L. Stine, describes. He describes places with such detail. For example, Stine wrote, "Maria took another glance at the approaching black triangles, gliding so quickly, so easily over the water toward them." on page 202. He was describing sharks that we approaching Maria. Ready to kill her. I could easily picture Maria in the water, weak, helpless, with sharks around her. She bleeding a lot. Filling the water with her blood. It's almost like a movie. A horror movie. It's kind of weird though... I really do like R.L. Stine's books. Their not scary (at least I think they're not) at all, but I still enjoy reading them.

This book has 2 books in one. The second book has 6 parts. The two books have similar situations but are at different time periods and different characters. You start to notice the same similarities as you read the second book. This book has many suprises towards the middle and the end and even though the begining is kind of slow to rising the rising drama in the book the book is still a very good book. Some parts are still kind of scary to read at times.
I just finished reading Beach Thrillers by R.L.Stine. I like how there are more than one story. I like how they combined two stories together. This book could have had another story. This book also could have been less predictable.
Wow is about the overview for me of the book. So many unexpected parts in the book. I also love how R.L. Stine builds up the suspense and makes the reader almost scared. I might read more of his books.
