Born into a two-parent household consisting of a Caucasian, Indian, and Creole mother and a successful black father, Sandy is a young girl whose childhood is almost stripped from her at an early age. On top of having to deal with her mother's bipolar disorder, she's faced with her parents' divorce, being bullied both at school and at hoe, and constant molestation. Weighed down by her many problems, Sandy finds solace in her passion for basketball and poetry, only feeling free from the chains that restrict her in her day-to-day life when honing her skills.
