Contemporary text with one historical chapter. Defends immigration. Daniels’ supporter about the positive impact of immigrants, BUT oddly, he argues that continued immigration might create economic difficulties in the years ahead for the US. He also argues that if it continues, it will make many new social opportunities for the immigrants and the hosts.
US has had more immigrants than all other nations of the world combined. In the 1920s, the golden door was closed almost completely and ever since then, the government has watched it very closely.
