Why would a simple burglar like Michael Wright, suddenly be the target of hitmen after being released from prison?
It’s summer 2008. Presidential elections are running hot when professional burglar Michael Wright is released from prison. Just over seven and a half years earlier, in November 2000, he was arrested while helping out his old pal Floyd at an office building in Miami. Now he’s back on the south Florida streets, and ready to pick up his life where he left it. His immediate needs aren’t that complicated; driving his beloved ’69 Mustang, reconnect with his estranged, teenage son Kyle, a woman, and making a living by stealing from rich people. He falls in love with a young mother, Mia, who gives him a sense of family, but he still keeps looking for Floyd. He does want answers. After all, he did time for Floyd, and wants to know why. As he tries to decide between continuing his quest to find Floyd or protecting his son and Mia, his past catches up with him when he runs into an old friend, and he no longer has a choice. Now, in pursuit of the truth about the mysterious circumstances surrounding his arrest, people are getting killed.
With some help of old friends, Michael is finally able to confront Floyd, and uncovers he was a pawn in a political conspiracy surrounding the 2000 Presidential elections, which involved a former governor and tampering with ballot machines. While trying to hold on to his crumbling relationship with Mia and making enough money to leave forever, he finally finds out that in order to save himself and his new family, he will need to crack one last safe.
I was born in the Netherlands forty four years ago. Just before the turn of the century, and at the height of a successful career as a television cameraman, I decided to move my family to the Caribbean to pursue my dreams of living a life like Sandy in Flipper. After living on two different islands and a short stay in Florida, I now reside on St. Barths. In addition to three novels, I have written several screenplays.
