I was really excited to read this book; I think it could have been wonderful. However, I felt like what was included were stories of women who were confused about their role as women and looking for peace and purpose in all the wrong places. I wanted to be inspired but was disappointed instead. I did enjoy some of the memoirs and letters, but as a whole, this book was lacking for me.

This is a great option for Mr. Wood's anthology project because it offers not only poetry by women (one of the categories), but also essays (which is another category). Not all of the entries are contemporary, but there are quite a few that are.

Editor Cahill "presents a collection of the most brilliant fiction, memoirs, poetry, letters and essays by women who present uniquely, from a female perspective, works that span centuries, countries and sensibilities". A very good and thought-provoking read.
