interesting and timely story about a lawyer going to visit his estranged adult son in africa, where he has bought a beach-bar. the lawyer himself has a lot of problems. he has a divorce behind him, he is under investigation for embezzlement and at a point in his life where regrets are starting to build up for all the important relationships destroyed by his ambition, career and feelings of power (with his ex-wife - the love of his life, and his three adult children to whom he has almost no contact). but traveling to africa with his much younger girl-friend, trying to rebuild the relationship to his oldest son will put him through an even bigger crisis with an uncertain outcome.
i found the story interesting. the writing is maybe a bit too direct and simplistic but overall efficient, advancing the story. it's a relatively short book, a fast read.

Pretty solid novel, nothing special tho. Tries to criticise euro centralism but barely really scratches the surface of such a big topic.
