Magdalena's Shadow is a beautiful coming of age story. Deep under the shadow of her supermodel mother, Magdalena, Coco begins the journey to find herself. I was instantly pulled into the story and couldn't put it down clear to the end. Written beautifully, E. E. Orme crafts the characters with loving care, bringing them to life for the reader. Great read!

What a great book. I never dreamed I would care about fashion or a model, but I was wrong. CoCo is an intriguing character taking her from her being basically abandoned into adulthood and the trials and tribulations. I will remember CoCo for years to come and her strength, courage and moxy. You go girl.

This is the engaging story of young Coco, a girl who has been living fearfully under the thumb of a cruel housekeeper, and the metamorphosis she undergoes when her baby sister is dropped into her life (and lap)and she is forced to grow up and blossom. The story takes us through her development as a high-powered fashion model, following in the footsteps of her famous mother, whose "shadow" Coco has to contend with, compete with, and ultimately come to terms with.

I found this generally well-written, and engaging. Coco's character is well-defined, and the hardships and experiences she goes through forms her character. The author illustrates Coco's confusion, growth, personal empowerment, and brave determination in the face of life and love challenges.

Thank you to the author and publisher for a review copy.

This book fills all the delights of a good romance novel: beautiful visual description--all sensory descriptions are just luscious and only once did I feel the language a little cliched. The love scenes worked. The character development with its set backs and regressions in Coco were convincing and left the reader wanting to get to the next page. The inciting incident at the beginning and again in chapter after chapter were believable. The conscious and unconscious desire were clear and driving. I loved being taken deep into the life of a super model, the clothing design industry through the lives of young ambitious women and the men who use and abuse them. I'm looking forward to more novels by E. E. Orme. Orme's understanding and depiction of real relationships based on mutual support and love are subtly portrayed.

I could happy wring the neck of an author who, after I’ve spent hours of my time, invested in their character and their story, gives me the kind of ending that would cause a protest riot if this tale was told in the medium of film rather than a novel.

I will end try saying “E.E. Orme What.The.Fuck?!”

Magdalenea's Shadow reaches into the depths of what it is like to live in the shadow of a famous mother. There is tenderness as well as complete determination to weave the main character Coco into a strong person who can overcome even the most difficult of circumstances. Very well written!
