Portland has a mutant cockroach problem. Death didn't solve anything for Claire. Now condemned to an eternity of roaming the Earth as a sixteen-year-old, she has to figure out this whole ghost thing from the other side. Lesson memories are power. Lesson this sucks. Drew has no idea how to handle the loss of his best--and only--friend. With the questionable guidance and help of the ghost possessing him, he's trying. He's really trying. In this fourth installment of the SPIRIT KNIGHTS series, old friends and new threats force both to confront their pasts. While the Knight's away, though, the bugs will play. Claire and Drew must each find the strength to conquer their fears or Portland won't survive the giant cockroach apocalypse.
Claire's story really took a great turn in this book. I also thought the relationship between Drew and Kay was well-developed. Toss in a new magic sub-plot and an opponent who is actually able to outwit our team of heroes, and you get a book that was never dull. It did marginalize Justin a little, so if you're a fan of the OG knight and his family, you don't get to experience them as much. But, overall, a great installment in the series, and I can't wait for the conclusion in Book #5.
It was fine - definitely a YA book, with a plan to build a persistent universe after this particular story is complete. I wasn't a fan how young=annoyingly bad, inexplicable decision-making but I see what the author was going for.
