I did not enjoy this book. I read about half, then skimmed some more then finally put it down without finishing.

The romance of the story progresses extremely quickly. I prefer for there to be some trust and familiarity between the main characters, not just lust. In the book the characters just fall into bed on the second day of knowing each other.
The main female character is supposed to be strong, but falls apart crying in front of her new subordinate very early in the story. The male character is very cliche. He was hurt in his past and now can’t bring himself to trust anyone.

I couldn’t really get a sense of the supporting characters. They didn’t really stand out to me and all kind of blended with one another.
There could be a really good book here by developing more of a bond between the main characters and taking the story a little more slowly.
I did like the world building, it was an interesting way to introduce readers to a world of shifters.

This is a quick little novel that is, setting up a series. Kenzie is a dragon shifter that is hiding in plain site because the government wants to kill all dragons. She gets transfered to a Shifters prison camp and meets Adrian who from as soon as she sees him, has deep feelings for him and vice versa. But Adrian has his own past he's hiding from so it is a push and pull between what they want and the things they are hiding from each other. This story wraps up Adrian and Kenzie but it is setting up the tone and plot for the rest of the series.
I give this story 4 stars it's interesting I'm very intrigued in the side characters I liked Kenzie abd, her ball buster attitude and I'm excited to see what else is in story for all these guys. I also truly enjoy it's a shifter basic prison camp so there is alot of colorful characters with stories just waiting to be told.

Burning Secrets, first in the Snake River Prison Camp series, has promise but is let down by shoddy writing and editing.
McKinzy Regan is the new warden at Snake River (Shifter) Prison Camp. She's no sooner there than she has a night of unbridled passion with Sgt. Adrian Brenton. He's a Wolf Shifter and she's a rare Dragon Shifter.
But sinister forces (where would writers be without them?) are afoot.
It's over almost as soon as it begins.
It's a fast and just about okay read.

First but definitely not last!

Burning Secrets is a great first book in a new series... The characters and their hidden pasts will have you hooked immediately!! The heat between McKinzy and Adrian flares from their first scene together and just ignites as they try to fight it. This book gave you the love story you hoped for plus enough tease to have you begging for the next book!!!! ...T.S Joyce fans be sure to look for the tip of the hat to her shifter books........Start this series now...you won't be disappointed!!!!

A great shifter novel, loved the strong, independent heroine and the slow burning heat and banter she had with the hero. Very interesting cast of side characters as well, they seemed well fleshed out and makes you want to find out how their stories unfold. Looking forward to reading the next one.

Great short read! The characters are likable and leaves me wanting to know what's coming for the rest of the guys at Snake River shifter prison. The story is not dragged out and the twists kept me reading.

What a fun read!

Very fun read with interesting characters. For first book of a series we weren't dragged through a ton of backstory that can sometimes happen. That being said this story progressed very very quickly in some places and the ending isn't really an ending at all, more of a to be continued. I look forward to reading the next release because I am definitely curious about what is going on. Oh and TS Joyce fans - look for the Easter Egg. What you did there? I see it.

Burning Secrets is the first book for new author Jules Tyler. I have to say, when I am less than 10% into a book and the words - twatwaffle, dick weevil, and asshat have already been used - I can tell it will be my kind of book! From the start, this first book in the Snake River Prison Camp series had me. I HAD to know what happened next. The only woman, unmated, and in a prison camp filled with men... Hmmm... But, not is all as it seems. We find out that McKinzy can definitely handle herself, and everyone else when she has to unleash her beast to protect the people she has grown to care about. But will it be enough? There is evil coming! But why? And why now? And most importantly, who? Love, suspense, betrayal - this book has it all. There were so many great parts to this book. And as always, I don’t want to give too much away, remember I hate spoilers! There were a few grammatical errors in the book, but not a huge deal for me. I just fix them in my head and move on. It was nothing that took away from the flow of the book, at all! If you have not read Burning Secrets, GET IT!!! I have to say, this is NOT a standalone. You will be left with a cliffhanger!!!! I know! I got to the last page and saw the words “The End” and felt like I was going to die! Yes, I know that is overdramatic but, have you ever got into a story so much and then BOOM, it was done? Like someone ripped the last few pages out of the book... And you had no clue what happened next, no clue how it would end, no clue if the couple finds a way to make it? Yes? Then you understand how I felt. No? Then you are reading the wrong books! Anyway, my heart sank and I was left wanting, no NEEDING more! Thankful Book Two will hopefully be released soon!!! Because I have to know what happens next!

Good

The story was good with shifters and mates. However the author could have developed the characters and storyline more. Hopefully the next book will start developing the relax .

That was a debut book?? Blows my mind.

I can't get over the fact that this was the author's debut work. It absolutely blows my mind that it was so well thought out and written with an amazingly strong and female lead with a big personality that I absolutely adore. I hope that there is lots more where this came from and that I get to read more about her. My only complaints are that it wasn't Long enough for me and I wanted a little more build up with the main characters but it was such a fun story that those are easy to overlook.
