Finally meeting the wealthy family she'd never known should have given Corrie Grant the information about her father she'd craved all her life. But the Mannings of Savannah were a secretive and hostile bunch. All except Lucas Santee, her grandfather's sophisticated right-hand man, who stood between Corrie and her relatives' unrelenting barbs and slights. The family's suspicion of her seemed frivolous at first, but when a mysterious series of accidents occurred, Corrie was forced to take it seriously. How far would the Mannings go to keep their secrets buried forever?
Marta Perry is a Pennsylvania-based author of over 35 novels, many of them inspirational romances. She uses her rural Pennsylvania life and her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in writing her books, especially in her Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and her new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books.
Marta and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse in a quiet central Pennsylvania valley. They have three grown children and six beautiful grandchildren, and when she's not busy writing her next book, she's usually trying to keep up with her gardening, baking for church events, or visiting those beautiful grandkids.
A romance novel with a plot? How novel! I actually enjoyed this one of the "clean" romance novels (which is saying something, since I rarely read a romance novvel that I like).
This is another good read by Marta Perry. Set in Savannah, the author introduces the city and old Southern ways to the reader. I enjoyed the tension between Corrie and her father's family as she tried to find out more about him and her mother. I enjoy a good clean, romantic suspenseful read and would recommend this novel to others who do too.
A fast moving story with plenty of action, mystery, suspense and thrills. This one had me sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering just what was going to happen next.
This was one of the very best of the Love Inspired books that I have read. The main character is Corrie, but her life becomes intertwined with several other characters besides the secondary character of Lucas. The way the story and plot flow is interesting, provoking and inviting. A step into a different world and status, Corrie must fight for the name she deserves, while trying to say she doesn't demand financial compensation. She learns a secret about her mother that she would never have known if she hadn't of made this trip of exploration. A romantic suspense with guts! You should read it.
I love a plot that keeps me guessing, and this book did exactly that. The twists and turns that are woven throughout this book made any number of people appear guilty, and then through careful elimination made them appear innocent.
This book is another excellent story by Marta Perry, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes good fiction. It is not morbid or frightening, but is a mystery. The way the author describes the setting (Savannah, GA) helps the reader "feel" the scenes.
I love Marta Perry's stories. She always writes characters that are believable. Even though I was able to figure out who the villain was before the end, I still enjoyed the story.
It has good suspense and was good reading. The characters were interesting and different. The plot although somewhat overused was done refreshingly different approach.
