Arcadian Bears #1

Grizzly Mountain

Rate this book
Two grizzly shifters rarely bind themselves together in haste, but what if a shifter’s mate is human?

Heather Simmons is excited to start a new job in Alberta, Canada, as a glaciologist. But when a minor accident leaves her trapped on a hiking trail overnight, she finds herself facing a burly mountain man and a pair of grizzly bears. From that moment forward, things could not get weirder.

Isaiah Arthur knows instinctively that Heather is his mate the moment he scents her clothing before heading up the mountain to rescue her. The sensation is confusing since she is obviously human, and converting a human to his species is strictly forbidden.

A rogue shifter takes Heather’s transition out of Isaiah’s hands, however. Isaiah is left with no choice but to take her home and find a way to inform her of her unintended fate, while fighting the intense need to make her his as soon as possible.

The North American governing body, the Arcadian Council, is not amused by the rare turning of a human, and chaos ensues as Isaiah races against the clock to bind his mate to him forever before someone steps in the way and takes the opportunity out of his hands.

Heather Simmons is in Alberta, Canada as a glaciologist until she gets hurt on a hiking trail and has to be rescued. Isaiah Arthur is out on the mountain trying to find the lost hiker who he quickly realizes is his mate. A stand off though has Heather getting injured by another shifter and now he has to disclose she is going to be a shifter and the complications that come with it. The Arcadian Council wants to interfere and take is mate away, Isaiah has a short amount of time to convince Heather to be his mate but will she be willing to take a chance on him?

Great book had a few twists I was surprised about. Isaiah was swoon worthy when it comes to Heather. Sizzling chemistry, well worth picking up.

"Grizzly Mountain" by Becca Jameson

My Thoughts....

This author really know how to give the reader a story that will take you on quite a journey that will have to go through many twist and turns before it will finally happens for Isaiah Arthur and Heather Simmons. We have Arcadian Bears [shifters] that Heather will become involved with in Alberta, Canada. What will happen when Heather is attacked by a bear drawing 'First Blood?'

Be ready for a story that full of a little bit of it all from all of its energy that involves 'Bear Shifters,' survival, suspense, fear, love and let me not leave out the hot steamy sensual sex that will come as these two people come together.

I loved how Isaiah who is a 'Grizzly Bear Shifter becomes Heather Knight in shinning armor...definitely her protector as well as her...well, I will stop here and say to get the whole story you will have to pick up 'Grizzly Mountain' to get how well this author delivers it to the reader.

If you are looking for a fun read that is full of heat this shifter read will give it to you and more. Thank you to the author for the gift of the read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Here I really want to give it more than 3 stars, but my problems with it mean I just can't in good conscience give it 4. So here goes.

The story line is excellent. World building excellent. Chemistry is quite good. Not nearly enough put into the unfairness angle, though. Apparently women are 2nd class yet again in this shifter world and easily abused.

Mild to moderate dominance themes which should be noted out side of having to read it in the story. Mild restraints. Consensual sure, but a trigger. Not every one wants to read about men being dom and women being weak or submissive and restrained. At least there isn't the themes of pain or punishment, which keeps it in the 3 range.

Not Bad.

This is an adequate paranormal romance of the erotic standalone variety. This means that while there is an instalove type of emotional connection between the bear shifters in this first installment of the Arcadian Bears series, the focus is more on sexy times and it’s patently obvious that that’s what the relationship is more or less based on (even though they ARE mates). This novel isn’t going to break you down emotionally and make you believe in real love, the next book in the series (having read the preview at the end of this book,) seems like it’s going to be more along those lines. But if you’re looking for a breezy, sexy, hot paranormal read with burly man-bear shifters, this is the one for you.

Wow! Whoa more like it. What on earth did I just read? Was this supposed to be a novel because it wasn't. I wasted all day reading a porno. Like holy crap. If your UNDER 18, you should not read this. If your over 18, be aware this has no suspense, no thriller, no plot, just a whole lotta love making. No joke. This isn't a Fifty Shades of Grey, this is Fifty Shades of wrong. Fifty shades of pure crap. Yea, nope, if I could give it 0 stars I would. This isn't even action packed. This is just a porno in words.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. ITS PATHETIC. I think the Author was too "excited" when she wrote this. This should be rated a 1 star book not even a 3.92.

Got this as a freebie on Amazon. First book in a series of 6.
Human girl goes hiking by herself & gets lost. Her rescuer is a bear shifter. Another bear shifter comes along & scratches the girl, turning her shifter. A lot of time is wasted trying to convince the girl there are shifters. She's remarkably obtuse. A lot of sex also. Angry shifter "Council members" seem like shades of Twilight.

It was ok IMO. Definitely readable. It was just missing something. I can't put my finger on it. Probably not going on with the series.

If you don't already know I love shifters. I really don't care what animal, they just call to me.

Grizzly bears are huge and you never want to interact with one. One of the first things I noticed with Heather hiking alone is that she didn't seem to have some safety items, bear repellant would be a thought. The other thing, no matter how experienced you are you should always hike with someone. Case in point, this story.

Now Heather was experienced, it was a day hike, although she started later than she should have. Injuring her ankle was unexpected and she was at least prepared should she have to spend the night in the wilderness. Her mother notified the park rangers when she didn't check in so that was good too.

Isaiah is a shifter, he and his family often help with tracking lost hikers. This time was different though. From the moment he scented her he knew she was his. His mate, but that couldn't happen she wasn't a shifter, she is human.

Getting in the face of a bear isn't something Heather is used to seeing and neither is two bears getting into a fight. That is what happens, unfortunately not before she is clawed. In this respect these bears are different from other shifters I have read. This 'scratch' is going to change her life.

From meeting his family and having her injuries tended to calling her parents to let them know she is safe, Heather has no idea what's coming.

The Arcadian Council sends representatives to be sure she doesn't leave Isaiah's home and others search for Jack, the bear who attacked her.

A favorite scene as Isaiah tries to get her to understand what's going on, it certainly isn't the easiest thing to explain.

Now there are many implications here and many things to be explained and worked out. Most importantly her safety, her choice in pack and their mating.

Conflicts, seriously hot scenes and plenty of humor put this series on my must follow list.

Grizzly Mountain Arcadian Bears Book 1
by Becca Jameson
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a fabulous Summer read this a great way to start this season. Once you start reading this book you can't stop until it's finished.  This is a story about Heather Simmons and Isaiah Arthur. Heather is a glaciologist she is so happy to start a new job in Alberta, Canada. Isaiah is every single bit the Bear shifter, he is the stuff of sweet fantasies, sexy and gorgeous. This story is full of energy, sensual and so amazing. Grizzly Mountain Arcadian Bears has a fantastic cast of characters even the supporting characters are just as great. From the beginning they constantly surprised me with which direction their romance developed. From their first scene, it is clear that he and Heather have met their respective mates. As this book progressed, it became clear why the Arcadian Council, is against the turning of a human. Not only do we get to learn how the chaos ensues. But why Isaiah races against the clock to bind Heather to him forever. That's why I enjoy reading Becca Jameson books she is so talented with her gift of storytelling. WOW I feel this Arcadian Bears series will ToTaLLY keep me on my toes – LOVED IT!! What I also enjoy about Grizzly Mountain by Becca Jameson is its setting – the wonderful mountains in Canada, where there are all manner of possibilities! Seriously – Once you one-click this book. You should settle down with favorite vintage pair it with your favorite cheese plate, then enjoy it in your favorite reading spot. Believe me when I say this will make your week. This is such a captivating story that I certainly enjoyed. I highly recommend this book and I voluntarily reviewed this book. Because I enjoy sharing my thoughts with my fellow readers.

Heather has just gotten a new job in Canada studying a melting glacier. She arrives 2 weeks early planning on hiking around learning the area. On her first day out on a hike she twists her ankle and is stuck waiting for a rescue. Luckily she had e-mailed her mom her planned route and scheduled a check-in time. When she didn't check in her mother called the park rangers. Isaiah is a bear shifter and a fantastic tracker who is called in when Heather doesn't return from her hike. When he is given Heather's shirt from her car to get her scent, he immediately has strong feelings for her. He rushes up the trail and finds her just before they get attack by a grizzly bear. Isaiah is shocked by the attack by a bear shifter from a rival clan since it is one of their biggest rules to never attack humans. He is even more horrifies when the bear scratches Heather initiating her change into a shifter which is another huge no-no.
Isaiah has no choice but to bring her home and take care of her. Somehow he has to explain all about the existence of shifters and about being one while fighting the mating pull. If that isn't bad enough Arcadian Council shifters have arrived and want to take Heather away. Heather is very confused and thinks everyone is crazy until they shift for her. She is drawn to Isaiah but hates that her choices are being taken away. Will she accept Isaiah bite or will the council take her away?
This is a good book about a woman discover a whole new existence. Heather had a lot to cope with but was doing her best and Isaiah was very kind and understanding. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

Grizzly Mountain is the first book in the Arcadian Bears series by author Becca Jameson. I really enjoyed this first book. The pace is just right, and I loved the character development. This book has the story of Heather and Isaiah.
Heather is a glaciologist. She gets lost in the woods. She is furious with herself because she is experienced at hiking and should have known better. I liked her strength. She is not a weak character. I also liked she can take care of herself. She sees her own short comings and is a tad too hard on herself but over all she is a well rounded person.
Isaiah finds lost people. That is kinda his job. He does it in his bear form. I liked that he does not come on all alpha like. He is a good person who let's Heather be a strong person without losing his masculinity. I think it takes a very strong character to do that.
Over all I really loved this first glimpse into this series. I would love to know more. I would love to read more in the future and find out who falls in love next.

Three and a half stars

Grizzly Mountain is the first in Becca Jameson's Arcadian Bears series, set in Alberta, Canada.

Heather Simmons has just moved to the area for a new job, and is thrilled to take a hike to get to know the area. Unfortunately she sprains an ankle and gets stuck up on a trail.

Isaiah Arthur is a local grizzly shifter who works with the local authorities to track missing people. From just a whiff of Heather's scent, he is overwhelming drawn to her. He's able to track her easily, but a rogue shifter's attack forces their hands.

Heather and Isaiah struggle with preserving Heather's autonomy while the shifter governing council immediately converges to safeguard the threat to their fiercely guarded privacy.

Ms Jameson's story is engaging, and Isaiah and Heather are sympathetic characters. Their friends and families form a strong supporting cast, and I look forward to getting to know some of them better later in the series.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

There was a lot I liked about this book. There was enough to make it not just feel like another formulaic shifter story. I liked both Heather and Isaiah, and Isaiah's family was present enough to be interesting without stealing the spot-light. I do wish the Arcadian council had been explained a bit better. I couldn't get a good feel for how the whole family, pack, and council dynamics really worked.

I did feel there was too much sex, it wasn't just insta-love/lust, but the focus on how horny the characters was seemed over the top to me. I would have liked a bit more conversation between the characters instead of just sex. Most of this comes from the fact that the majority of the story is told over just a few days (though at times it certainly felt a lot longer).

I love everything about this book. The plot is well-developed and the characters likable. Heather a Glaciologist is hiking alone in Banff National Park when she sprains her ankle. Isaiah a member of the search and rescue team and a grizzly bear shifter finds Heather. Before he can save her she is attacked by a rogue shifter and scratched, drawing blood. She isn't going to die but how will Isaiah tell her that he is not only a grizzly bear shifter, her fated mate and that she will soon be a bear shifter herself? Since it is against the shifter law to turn a human the Arcadian Shifter Council wants to take her away to prevent anyone finding out about shifters. How Isaiah protects Heather and how she copes with her new existence makes for an intriguing story. A wonderful start to the Arcadian Bear Series.

Grizzly Mountain starts out with Heather Simmons taking a hike to get to know the area before starting her job as a glaciologist in Alberta, Canada and spraining her ankle. She spends the night on the mountain waiting to be rescued.

Isaiah Arthur, a grizzly bear shifter is asked to find her; once he smells her things in her car he knows she is his fated mate. Things turn crazy when Heather is attacked and scratched by a rogue bear shifter from a rival clan. Isaiah takes her home and cares for her and does his best to keep her out of danger and explain she will now become a shifter too.

The attraction grows between Isaiah and Heather, the sex is steamy HOT and Heather has to learn what it means to be a bear shifter and how she will fit into her new society and with Isaiah too. Great story full of love, understanding and some danger too.

Isaiah Arthur is a Bear Shifter that helps find lost hikers in ? And is called in to help find Heather Simmons she is missing since yesterday and it’s cold in the mountains after dark and she could also be hurt, hopefully she is a good hiker and prepared for the worst. Isaiah opened her car and smelled her scent to track her and he tried unsuccessfully to shack the lure of her pheromones from his head. One whiff of Heather Simmons and his knees buckled. This was not the only rescue he’d done for Glen Montrose of the Parks Canada Warden Service. This is the Very Basic Beginning to a Wonderfully Written Suspenseful Romantic Mystery That draws you in from the Very beginning and you cannot put down until the end. Very engaging erotic love story.....I loved it......Smile..... I was given this and I voluntarily leave this review

Decent enough read. Heather, a human, gets hurt hiking. Isaiah, bear shifter, is asked to find her. Before Isaiah can get a heather off of the trail, another bear shifter scratches Heather which will lead to her conversion to a bear shifter.

There was some drama with the Arcadian Council as to what would happen to Heather and some potential other suitors. Neither of those plot devices added much drama to the story. There was doubt as to what the council would do, including potentially terminating Heather. The resolution was pretty much meh.... author could have ramped up that and the other suitors a bit more.

There’s some stuff at the end of the book with Isaiah’s friend Austin that don’t really add much to the story unless it’s a foreshadowing of what’s to come in the next book.

I am not a fan of shifter books but Becca Jameson has done a great job in writing his book. Heather has just moved to Canada and decided to take a hike and she had everything she need for the hike but she was hiking alone and she twisted her ankle bad enough that she could not walk on it. She had to spend the night in the forest, but she knew her mother would call when she did not call her that evening or by morning. They park Ranger decided it would be good to call Isaiah because he could get there faster if he shifted into being a bear. When he went to her car, he could send her and he knew immediately that that was going to be his mate. Anything with her would've been a problem because she was human. It became a problem while Isaiah was still looking for her because there was another shifter bear that happened upon her. now you will have to read the book to see what happens when both of them show up at the same time. Enjoy

A new shifter series that takes a slight turn from some of the other shifter stories. The bear shifters are born. Ut humans can be turned by a scratch or bite. The laws against turning a human are very strict. But that doesn't save one human from being attacked. The book goes in depth on what the attack means to the shifter community and what they will do to protect their secrets. But one male will do anything to protect this woman who fate has given him a chance with.

Meant for mature readers due to some steamy scenes. The violence is very mild but it heats up in the bedroom.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

I really enjoyed this book! 😍

Heather has moved to Canada for her new job as a glaciologist and is really looking forward to it. So much so, that she decides to get there a couple of weeks before her job starts so she can learn the area and get settled in. With that thought in mind, she decides to take a hike to get to know the area. This is when things go wrong for her quickly. She ends up twisting her ankle and spending the night on the trail alone. And then she meets Isaiah, the park ranger... and grizzly shifter, sent to rescue her. And that is where her life takes a major turn. 💜🐻💜

Lacking depth

Its not detailed enough to be smutt, but too focused on sex to be a romance. The characters are sketches. The plot is lacking build up and proper reactions. The mob scene was the most awfully written scene in the book. The crowd isn't angry, so the reader doesn't feel their fear. They are shamed and questioning what they are doing there, so the reader questions their existence too. Antoine should have been at the head of the mob, should have questioned the Arthur's right to a new member, should have been censured to make him more angry. Instead, the mob scene lacks purpose and drama and is a complete throw away.

A Bear of a Tale!

Grizzlies? Real. Shifters? Fantasy. Or at least that's what Heather believed, until her world was turned upside down by a scratch! Oh, and the bear of the man, who saved her, is driving her libido wild! She can't get enough of him, but it's only been two days. How can he be so sure that I'm his mate for life? Not only that other shifters aren't happy that a human was turned...how will the future bare out? I know my review is 'bearly' tolerable with all the puns, but I couldn't resist without 'bearing' my thoughts! Great story, Becca! I can't wait to read the next story about Austin and Nuria...

Heather could never have imagined that her entire life would be forever changed when she out on her hike. Yet, in less than 24 hours she would never be the same. The moment Isaiah scents her, he knows that Heather is fated to be his. Adjusting to her new reality, falling in live with a man she's known less than two days, having a group of grizzly shifters come after her and being attacked by the son of a rival family keep both Heather and Isaiah in almost a constant state of chaos. The only thing keeping her from losing it is this man who rocks her world, Isaiah.

I did not have high expectations for this book and was really surprised bu how good it was. I thought the whole being turned into a shifter was well handled. Heather's reaction to the situation was spot on. I thought Isaiah's reactions where also well described, with appropriate hesitation in explaining the situation, because of his feelings towards her. There was excellent chemistry between them. Heather was feisty and not willing to be overrun. The sex scenes were well done, particularly her reaction to his domination. I look forward to reading the next one.

This was a great start to a new series! Heather and Isaiah were burning up the pages from the moment they met! Becca Jameson writes very sexy and intriguing novels and this was no exception! This was my first shifter novel from the author, but I will definitely be going back and reading her previous shifter novels! Can't wait for more from this series. Hopefully Austin and Wyatt will find their mates!

Enjoyed this book. Heather is human and while injured on the trail, she was scratched by a girzzle (shifter). Isaiah was asked to try and find her since she had not come home or contacted her mom. Isaiah knew she was his mate could that have distracted him when the grizzly attacked her, who knows. but they go thru quite a few trials before they can be together. Like the history about the council and shifters, but too many pages with nothing but sex for me.

This didn’t hold my interest

I don’t like doing negative reviews but I must be honest. The book was boring to me and I believe that it lasted to long therefore it dragged on to long. The author would have been able to complete the story in a shorter time. I didn’t form an attachment to any of the characters. I’m not giving up on the author hopefully I will enjoy one of her other books.
