I stumbled upon this book about photography and exoticism at the library, and I was very disappointed that a book published in 1999 doesn't contain in its preface a single word about the colonialism that fathered these photos. However disappointed, I was not surprised given the "Strange Strangers" title. Plus, some of the photos were far from being disappointing, they were absolutely incredible.
