When police officer Kwame King encounters Braz Galarza, a local drug dealer, they both see beyond the badge and the tattoos, and an unavoidable attraction occurs. Braz’s lawless behavior influences kwame and causes him to teeter between being a lawful cop and a lawless lover.
Kwame tries to suppress his forbidden feelings. however, when Braz offers him a proposition that he can’t refuse, the two are drawn closer together than either one of them could imagine.
But what is Braz really offering- love, lust, or lies? will Kwame spiral down the slippery slope of this outlawed lover affair and dishonor his badge, or will the end justify the means?
Re-read 6/19/19 - Still holding strong. I realized in my last review I said not to read the epilogue if you want a happy ending. Then I fell into the trap...so, to be clear...the chapter doesn't say 'Epilogue'. It's Chapter 49, Present Day. So! If you're fine with an open ended book, stop at Chapter 48! Still love my babies HARD!

Re-read 3/18/18. Still absolutely loved. 4.5 rating holds even with an epilogue that sucks donkey dong; I am not kidding; it will GUT you. If you can't handle an unhappy ending, skip the epilogue. Just go with not really being sure what happened, and write a happy ending in your head! Still, the rest of the book is really worth the read and I would absolutely read it again. Loved my babies.

WOW! So happy I stumbled upon this book on KU. EXTREMELY well written. Loved the characters, loved the pacing. Kwame's slow slide from upstanding police officer to law breaker, and drug dealer side kick, was really well done. I liked that he struggled with his decisions, and that Braz would call him on his hypocrisy. Braz was trouble from the door, but I understood how Kwame got caught up. He tried to resist but that pull was too much. I loved them together, and loved how their lust turned to love. Through all the craziness and antics, all that adrenaline turned to something else.
I wanted them to forget Lazy Eye and go chill in Miami. I knew when things started to turn south. Ugh.
4.5 because, though this ending was fitting for this type of book, I'm a sucker for a happy ending.
Editing was very good. A few errors here and there, but nowhere near what I normally have to endure for this genre/trope.
I can't recall the last time I've read a book where I felt so connected to the main characters. It takes A LOT for me to care about a character in a book, but the author pulled me in so deep that I couldn't help but to care about King AND Braz. I was so deep into both of their lives that I couldn't choose sides even I wanted to. This book took me through all kinds of emotions. One minute I was laughing, the next I was nodding my head, chapters later I was shaking my head and praying for the demise of certain people. Ultimately, I was left speechless. This is definitely a must read!!!
If you come across this book just get it it is not what I expected if I could’ve gave this book more stars I would’ve I love the characters the background the love story and the ending is to die for just get it.
Really enjoyed the book and couldn’t put it down was flipping the pages like a crazy person to see what happens next. I hated the ending but I know not all ending has to be happy ever after first time reading this author and it was really good
I freaking ugly cried at the end of this book. This book there are no words. It’s one of the books I have ever read and that’s saying a lot since I’ve read over 500. That’s it , it was amazing !
