Olive Bateman is living her dream. Selling her Jewelry and all natural Bath and Body products, she’s on the cusp of making a name for herself, when an opportunity she can't refuse arises. Heiress Rachael Davenport hires her to design a cohesive look for her wedding. The stumbling block keeping her from reaching her goal comes from an unlikely source. A sexy six-foot-one, sandy-brown-haired, blue-eyed perfectionist hell-bent on driving her insane. Big brother extraordinaire and Head of the Davenport family, Luka Davenport. In charge of his siblings and the family candy empire since the death of his parents fifteen years prior, Luka's used to running things. So when his only sister decides to get married, he's determined to give her the wedding of her dreams. When she chooses a local small business to cater the affair, he's less than pleased. Working with the quirky visionary is trying as they bump heads and go toe-to-toe in a way few others are brave enough to attempt. Though he loathed to admit it, Olive made his blood boiling in more ways than one. If they can avoid killing one another, they might discover something else worth fighting for.
Shyla Colt is the sassy USA Today Bestselling author of the popular series Kings of Chaos and Dueling Devils M.C. This genre-hoppers stories feature three of her favorite things: strong females, pop culture, and alternate routes to happy ever after. Listening to her Romani soul, she pens from the heart, allowing the dynamic characters, eccentric interests, and travels as a former flight attendant to take her down untraveled roads. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, this mid-west girl is proud of her roots. She used her hometown and the surrounding areas as a backdrop for a number of books. So, if you're a Buckeye, keep an eye out for familiar places.

Pleasant enough read but rather insubstantial so ultimately unsatisfying.
The couple meet, bicker a bit, notice each other's eyes/hair/prettiness, lust a little, kiss, have sex, he romances her with gifts, and then they say 'I Love You.'
I didn't feel the two main characters, Luka and Olive, fall in love. I don't think the book really gives us that. There wasn't enough substance there to feel that a real relationship happens. Even the very minor conflict that happens toward the end feels really inconsequential as to be annoying rather than a real conflict. There was no foundation for it, so it just collapses a page later.
And finally, a particular pet peeve... but I have seen this before in a couple of books but....
Pension = a retirement fund Penchant = a habitual tendency to do something
So this sentence: "She thinks his pension for making me late is amusing."
makes no sense.
Technically they aren't supposed to be pronounced the same so they aren't really homophones. But still, I have a pet peeve about homonym/homophone misuse in writing. makes me crazy!
I am on the fence about this one. Probably a 3.5. It was a good story, well written and I liked the characters, but I didn't feel any depth to it. I wasn't pulled into the book either. It just felt like a light, quick read.
Loved Luka and Olive's story, what a fun and lovely story about a dedicated brother to his siblings after the death of their parents, and Luka's meeting of Olive. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. Great read Shyla looking forward to reading more of your books. Oh there are a few typos in the story for me that was the only draw back other than that it was a good story I would have liked to see the wedding just saying. Thank you.
When you least expect it expect you could find love in the unlikely of situations and places. I'm glad that even though Luka and Olive didn't start on each other's good side that they ended up on a better note than they start. I wish that this book could've been longer than it was because this book kept me wanting to see what their lives were going to be like.
What more can I say... this story was adorable too me. This second story in Bunch-A-Blooms was good. I like how Ms. Shyla showed how opposites attract and they find out that they have more in common than not. If you are looking for a simple somewhat complex story this book is for you.
Luka and Olive are so beautiful together. Even though they but heads at first they find there way. No games or over the top drama, just opening to the possibilities and discovering love is so worth it with the right person. Look forward to more with this group of friends.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I almost didn't read it when I saw it was a short story but when I read the story it didn't seem to be lacking in anyway. It had very few grammatical errors. Overall good story and characters.
My only concern was is it Micah or Micha. The characters were well developed. Luka is overbearing but a true leader. Olive is a thriving business owner trying to promote her business. Luka and Olive couldn't stand one another but their attraction for one another was hard to ignore. Opposite does attract, lovely story.
Olive Bateman and Luka Davenport couldn't be more different. Olive is vibrant and creative who loves to think outside the box, while Luka is traditional and as straight laced as the come. But after just one kiss they realized that being different definitely works in their favor. Luka and Olive are so good for each other and it shows throughout the quick but very fulfilling story ,Thorn in my Side. What was so endearing about this couple was how neither was sure they were making the right choice but they took a chance on each each other in spite of their insecurities . This was a really sweet romance and I give it 4 stars!
Olive Bateman and Luka Davenport thought they had nothing in common, but when there are sparks that can ignite a fire the conclusion is love. Luka has been responsible for his three siblings and their candy company since the death of his parents. Now with his baby sister planning her wedding and Luka spending time Olive he starts to realize that maybe its time for him to look for happiness too. This was a nice, sweet romance by Shyla Colt.
I enjoyed Luka and Olive's story. The chemistry between the two was hot and sweet. Ms. Colt has a gift of drawing you into the characters lives and never wanting the story to end. Luka had been living a half life with the responsibility of raising his siblings and Olive came and colored his world. The flow of the story was paced well and didn't feel rushed. Another hit Shyla
This was sweet old fashioned romance done really well without all the drama the normally follows a new relationship.I would have loved to have seen this couple navigate the pitfalls of this relationship and some of there differences.Overall a good short read with a head.
This was a very good read. I felt like I was reading a fairytale of beauty and the beast 😃.
Luka was that old is out of his siblings. His parents died in an auto accident. He had to step up and be father, mother and big brother. Upon taking over this role at age 25 😲. Along the way he lost all social skills to interact with other people ( unless it was family and very close friends ).
His one and only sister was getting married 👰. She wanted to use home town talent to design her wedding . However, Luka had to micromanage everything. Olive was the one to do the job.
Luka and Olive bump ✊ heads got a while. That is all I will say. Now buy this book and enjoy 😊
