Finally!! A strong kick ass heroine ya'll!

Ally is my kind of girl. Straight forward, strong, doesn't back down, stands up and defends herself! Plus she's 38, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to demand it from the Hero's. One of the first scenes we get is Ally thanking her cheating ex for cheating on her because she's now living her dream - no woe is me for this girl! Second major scene has her kneeing a guy who told her to suck his dick in the balls!

The Hero's were great too! All strong in their own right and I can forgive Spartan for his assholish behavior in the beginning because he was protecting his family. Was it right what he did? Nope..but I do understand.

I also really liked how Ally handled the "four previous" women to come before her this 100 year cycle. It was in my mind and I was wondering if it were to ever be addressed - its a big elephant in the room. I'm glad to say it was, Ally was justified in her initial reaction, and the guys were vindicated.

However, I can't give it 5 stars because for a while it leaned very heavily on sex. She was making connections with each of the guys but each sex scene took up 1 - 2 chapters for EACH GUY so it got to be overkill a little. Once the sex was done the real story was able to develop and underneath all the sex it was a good story.

"Why would you bring us an old hag, Malcom? She has to be almost 40. What use does she have left?
I glared up at her, my mouth filter not catching up with my brain. "Who would put a child on a golden throne and thing her capable of anything other than saying stupid shit?"

"Ball-smashed Malcom, yes" I nodded. Spartan lifted his eyebrows.
"Ball-smashed?"
"I smashed his balls when he tried to tell me I had to suck them. It seemed like an appropriate punishment"

Ally Swift is nearing her forties and trying her goal at becoming a successful Paranormal author especially since a year ago her husband at the time left her for another woman who left Ally a total sobbing mess. She decided that after her husband leaving her, she was going to take back her life and become adventurous. What she didn't expect was her mind to be opened wide in a whole new way. It started with a text from her best friend Cassie and ended up with Ally being told she has to partake in a fight with the current queen of a Vampire hive and she has two options - to win or die. Ally has been chosen and is the last hope for 100 years of the Vampire Hive getting a new Queen. She also has five guys that she must sleep with and at the end of the week, choose only one, and the other four will be put to death. Ally doesn't want anyone to die and how can she choose as she's starting to fall in love with all five of them ? Now with only one week to go - Ally must train and fight and come up with a plan to defeat the current Queen Terra or everyone she cares and loves will perish. As an author of Paranormal and Supernatural Romance, Ally will have to put her writer's cap on and think about how she would write this scene in order to survive. Harem of Fangs definitely had it's erotic scenes as well as moments of Vampires and Werewolves. A few years ago, I went off these types of books but I think because it had the erotic scenes and reverse harem on top of the Vampires, I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. If you love Reverse Harem , Erotica and Vampires then Harem of Fangs is the trifecta just for you. The only downside for me was the character’s name as for some reason whenever I read her name, all I could think about was Taylor Swift – the singer.

When I saw this was a RH paranormal with a writer as the main character available on audible escape, I was excited to read it. Unfortunately, right from the beginning you're given a huge amount of insta-love / insta-lust and honestly, I hated that. It was disappointing because I thought the author was rushing things that could have waited a little longer. I wish she would have developed the plot and relationships first before diving into the sex scenes that felt forced and empty because of the lack of connection. The characters barely spoke before having sex for the first time. I liked the idea of this book but the relationships and characters are (almost) everything in these kinds of books and here I didn't believe in them. I didn't see before starting the audio that it was a standalone and not the first book in the series so that was unfortunate. If I had known I would have had different expectations, I guess.

So this book has a super fast paced story line right from the start. Our heroine is basically kidnapped while trying to rescue her friend from a bad night at a bar, by a group of vampires. She is taken to 'The Hive' and told in five days she will have to fight the current Vampire Queen to take over or die. Immediately she is attracted to a group of men, men who will later become her harem. Over the course of the short story, much of the story is her having sex, I won't lie. Aside from this big upcoming fight there's not much else going on. She is told she will have to choose one man as her consort and even if she wins the other four will be killed. Ironically enough from the start she has an intense attraction to them all. There were a few facets I did enjoy about the story such as the heroine is 38, which I'm sure we can all admit is not a typical age for a heroine particularly in reverse harem. Ally is also an author who writes paranormal romance so her whole situation is almost a dream come true to her. There was an obvious intro into some other characters who I'm assuming will have their own stories later in the series. It was a good quick read and I enjoyed it though I do wish there was more of an actual story, that things were fleshed out a bit more.

What?

What in the world did I just read?

Okay, so I only made it to the end of the first chapter (mind you, I skimmed a bit), but what the frick?

What is going on with this hype around writing paranormal romances where the main character is a paranormal romance writer? It makes me cringe so badly.

It's uncomfortable.

It just makes me feel icky to read, like it shouldn't be a thing. Yet it is.

And what was up with that dialogue? A whole new level of cringe.

Also, a first chapter usually hooks you into a book.

There wasn't a hook in sight.

Ack. My friend recommended this book to me as a good RH, and I'd never doubted our friendship until now.

this was such a sexy and easy read, slightly disappointed that there wasn't a spicy blood sucking/bite claiming scene at the end even though the scene was set for it

ARC Provided by Author in Exchange For An Honest Review

Firstly, I can't resist saying that the cover's girl reminds me of Taylor Swift in her “Love Story” video 😂

...Ally Swift goes to help her friend .... she finds herself thrust into a world... of vampires, magic, and mind-blowing sex that she could never have dreamed was possible.

.... five powerful vampires (Preacher, Wick, Celt, King and Spartan)....and....She is the key to their survival

Can she find a way to save them all?

What I didn't Like

Firstly, in the first pages of the book, the heroine faints. Why can't the authors stop this? They make feel weird because I've never fainted and every female character does.

Let's talk about Ally, in the first chapter she states that she's not interested in men because her ex-husband cheated on her, but she proposes someone who she just met to have a bath and do o t h e r things together, yeah sure...

Then, she finds a chained werewolf in a room, deduces -out of nowhere- that it was put there by the queen and she gets angry at her. What if that werewolf has murdered someone or has done terrible things?

"She shouldn't have chained him up,"

And why is that?? You know nothing about it!!!

And let's not forget she changes her mind a LOT.

What I Liked

The first part of the book was a disaster for me and made me hate the heroine, but surprisingly, when I was going to DNF it, the book changed! Surprise!

The heroine took a turn for the better and started improving. But even then, I didn't feel any connection between her and the guys.

There were a lot of hot scenes (some with fangs involved, everything with fangs involved is super hot), and for me, they were the best thing about the book.

I liked the names of the men, they're unusual.

At the end, my only interest was to see Spartan happy, oh Spartan *dreamy eyes*

Extra
This book should enter in the erotica genre.

It's like a Dixie Lynn Dwyer book without all the refusal from the heroine and with no connection between the characters.

I don't know if I'm gonna read the second one, but it's not my priority right now.

This book has a super rushed plot with insta everything... And even though it has all that I still thought it was enjoyable. I think this author did a great job making the "rushedness" as well as the "insta" feel legit like there wasn't really much of a choice and it was done on purpose. I also liked the fact that instead of wasting time on sleep the author gets around that as well, with some really awesome creative concepts there.. I see you Emma Dawn..

After a call from a friend Ally Swift, our FMC finds herself kidnapped by vampires. Not only that but now she is an unwilling contestant in the race to be queen.. The last contestant left alive. Now Ally must get to know "the guys" in an attempt to pick one to fight the queen with her at the end of the week or else they all die. Yea this plot dives right in and doesn't let up. Ally, however, is having problems picking just one... She wants them all, and she wants to free this world from "the child."

This book in the series could actually stand alone since we come to a conclusion at the end, however I'm not sure that the rest of the series would stand very well without this one since it looks like we get introductions and teasers about the rest of the series here in this book. I'm down to see what else this series has in store for us. Honestly, it was clever, funny, and entertaining so.. yea I'll be back.

There is a lot to dislike about this book, but what really stood out to me was the disgusting hypocrisy of the protagonist.

During the entire book there’s a slight undercurrent of girl-hate – she is very quick to refer to her enemy as “the cunt” and “the twat” – but it all comes to a head, for me, the moment she realizes “her boys” had slept with other women long before she came in the picture. As in, these ancient men, who it was earlier explained had been in that same situation every 100 years or so, had dared to have sex with other women before her.

It’s a downright violent scene, too. She slams doors in people’s faces and refuses to return to her room, because it had been the room where - centuries ago - they bedded other women. Other women she outright refers to as “whores”, despite the fact that they were purportedly doing the exact same thing she is doing.

It gets worse when “the boys” soothe her tantrum by explaining they didn’t, in fact, have sex with the previous candidates. Nope, the previous women in her exact situation chose a single man. The others remain untouched! That cheers her right up, and the men proceed to celebrate her “possessiveness” – except the entire scene stinks of double standards. She has had sex with at least another man in a far shorter time than they theoretically would have bedded the previous candidates. But of course, no one mentions that.

Then there’s the fact that this is a paranormal romance book starring a paranormal romance book author. At first I figured it was a way to add some fun poking at tropes, but then I realized that, oh no, the author took it seriously. As in, the protagonist regularly refers to her “writer’s brain” to explain her waxing poetic at the worst times, and her getting constantly distracted.

It’s bad enough that I feel embarrassed for the author, who wrote a serious scene in which a seasoned strategist rightfully informs the fragile human protagonist trapped in an underground vampire lair that, well, she can’t escape. And then, said fragile human protagonist gets angry because she is a writer and therefore could come up with all manner of escape plans! Because a life of writing fantasy absolutely equals real battle experience in this godawful little universe where an entitled brat of a middle-aged woman is celebrated as a source of “love and laughter” by centuries-old men who really should know better.

(Also, for a book that constantly harps on about bloody “writer's brain”, the author misuses “literally”, which just adds to the whole second-hand embarrassment thing I mentioned).

The entire book reads like a private fantasy – one where you and your besties go into the world of the paranormal and get your own harems. And that would be just fine if the author had actually taken the time to shave-off some of the most glaringly obvious self-serving fantasy aspects, such as the fact that her avatar is always right, the men are always the first to look away when there’s an argument, she defeats an ancient vampire shifter by, quite literally, taking him by the balls and there’s a very serious declaration of her “finally being treated as the queen she is”.

In conclusion: this book was bad, and would have done better as a private document to share between the author and whoever inspired the other three protagonists in the series. As it is, the only positive thing I can say about it is that at least it was short.

Also, why in heaven’s name does she refer to the guys as “the boys”? She is constantly harping on about being a mature woman of the world. No woman – let alone a middle-aged one – wants to date “boys”. This is really far from the worst aspect of the book, but one that sticks with me as being particularly annoying as it makes absolutely no sense.

Here's my honesty. I did not fall in love with this book instantly. I didn't even like the main character at first. I kept going though and it improved by the end of the book. There is a ton of sexy time in this one. I'll give it to Emma, she can write the sex scenes.
We are introduced to a couple characters for the next book and they do interest me. I'll definitely give the next one a shot. So my advice for you is, as long as you don't mind the sex, give this a shot. Don't give up if you don't love it right off. I was pleasantly surprised once I got about half way through and the story really picked up.

Ally is kidnapped by vampires and told she must fight their Queen if she wants to save herself, and the five men who are connected to her. Things get more complicated as she learns she has feelings for them, and she has no idea how to kill this vampire Queen and become one herself.

This was a very short book, with not a whole lot of story to it, but it was still interesting. It wasn't exactly great, but it wasn't bad either. I liked it, but I was annoyed that there wasn't more to it.

Other than that I thought the plot was interesting, and I do enjoy reading more in this series, I just hope there will be a little bit more to the story.

This book was basically all sex and really no plot. The h reactions were not realistic for someone who is 38 year old. She was really TSTL. I really wished that there was more plot and characterization to the story i would have enjoyed it so much more. Glad it was on KU.

2.5 to 3 stars

I preferred the second book in this series (with the shifters), but this wasn't bad. A little too much insta-love and completely unrealistic progression from clueless to defeating the current Alpha/Queen, but a reasonably enjoyable RH read.

So I’m not sure whether to give 3 or 2 stars… it was entertaining and definitely a book that’s that worth reading free on audible, but it just wasn’t really what I thought it would be. Lots of things didn’t make sense imo, and I just couldn’t really like the FMC. She was just too much at times and it got really annoying. She gets kidnapped and ends up sleeping with one of the men right after waking up… no questions asked or anything. Then when she finally asks questions she just hops onto the next one. I don’t mind some fast paced books but this one was on an entirely different level. I completely forgot that the FMC had a dog because it was never mentioned again after she was kidnapped until the very end of the book… so who was taking care of the dog for the last 5 days? Why was the FMC so accepting of vampires when she never believed in them and thought her friend was obsessed with something that doesn’t exist at first? How did the queen manage to take Cassie at the end when she was with the wolves? Why add another guy to the harem just for him to leave at the end? It’s just… so much had me confused and doesn’t make a lot of sense. The reason I’m giving it a 3 is because I don’t think it should go in my 2 star category as those are usually meant for books I really don’t like… this book definitely had me annoyed at times but it still kept my attention for some reason.

Let's be real and toss out the idea that anything in this book is suppose to make sense. Alright! Now you're ready to have a little fun and get to know Ally & her vampires.

A late night call to help a friend turns into a stranger than strange adventure where preternatural creatures and magic is real. Ally finds herself caught up in a fight for succession for the vampire throne and falling in love with five virile male vampires that slip into her heart.

Parts of the story is very appealing and I really wanted to love the characters that make up the story. I think the setting and world would have a stronger build if the story was longer. I liked the fact that All is 38 and spunky. Most of the story needed a bit too much of a stretch for me to keep in line with it but it wasn't awful. I will say that if you're going to write a menage, you need to figure out a way to make each sex scene be different enough to stand out from one another.

I had fun reading this story. It screamed cookie-cutter but I didn't let that stop me from trying it out.

DNF @7%

Heroine rubbed me hella wrong from word one.

I can't read a novel featuring a heroine blaming the other woman. At 38, I expected a mature mindset, not a internalized misogynist one. In my early forties, a failed marriage under my belt (one featuring cheating) and being a writer myself, the heroine should have deeply resonated with me. Nah. Hell nah.

She blames the other woman, calling her fat & ugly(how dare her ex want this fugly chick when she is perfect) never once thinking how the ex was a piece of crap for cheating. Body shaming the other woman when she might not know the ex was attached... in a reverse harem novel where she takes on multiple men.

The misogyny was gross. Body shaming, blaming women for men's actions, infantilizing men, and the hypocrisy of slut-shaming when she is a strong, independent woman for having a harem of men.

It's a novel where only one woman can be beautiful, desirable, strong, independent, intelligent... and that woman must be the narrator... all others are fugly, fat, man-stealing twats.

Good

This take on a vampire harem with a goal towards fighting the current queen for the throne was intriguing . All characters were were unique & well fleshed out, though the bad queen was a bit too high school mean girl cliche. My only really negative was the too quick forgiveness of one guy that tried to have her killed TWICE! He got over his resistance & quick opinion of her without any believable reason or any meaningful time spent with her .
Why do authors write their heroine with so little self worth that abuse is forgiven in exchange for attention?
You know, it's ok to make him work to earn trust. It won't ruin the story.

A Super Sexy Vampire Tale!🔥💘🔥
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)

This is a snarky, fun & sexy read. The main character is a strong minded woman who writes paranormal romance. She's sarcastic & funny but has her vulnerabilities!🙈😢 The vampires that she meets & starts to care for all fulfil her in varying ways. They're all super sexy & great her exactly right - well mostly!!😳

The steam is hot 🔥💘🔥 and the romance is sweet & sincere 😍 I really liked the premise of the storyline & the world the author created!!🌟

It was ok....

I was ok.... I didn't love it,I didn't hate it...I say at times when at the beginning of the story when Ally ( which I love a 100% over Allianna) that name just felt needlessly long) unlike this story which felt way too short.. that my point had been( sorry for digressing) even when Ally is acting a bit TSTL wandering into a bar late at night alone surrounded by a bunch of strange men armed only w/keys,cellphone and a lot of snarky wit,I wanted to like her because she was funny as hell, sadly that wasn't enough for me..... Ally is good hearted and intelligent and funny but since the author knew they weren't going to give us a lot of story, they moved really really fast and while I can't say it felt rushed per say , sex came in way to fast and I don't feel the characters fit the story they deserved, and neither did we...
Supposedly Ally only got to spend and hour w/each guy and then an hour or soo in between but even w/her sneaking off and training her time seemed to fly by faster than it should have...
I spike have loved more build up between them soo she and us could have really gotten to know them and relied a little less on Instagram love/lust and a 100 % use of the p word, sheath and core ,center are better during a sex scene unless your going for something gritty or raw or during rough and angry sex or dirty talk otherwise it's just rather jarring and to me further brings down the quality of a book that already feels rather rushed and short on time....
I really loved the idea that Ally was a writer and she was living out a fantasy and personally if I ever write out my own story ideas even if I'm the only one who ever reads them that will be a BIG part of why I do,as a way to live out my own fantasy ...
I think that's a brilliant idea to have in a story, I just wish we could have had a better chance to get to know the characters and it hadn't ended right after she accomplishes what she has to do...
I personally dislike a book that end right after the MC's become a couple or in this case a harem..
Soo not bad but could have been soo soo much better...
If you like reverse give it a try,if you have KU definitely do...
Gotta love a story where a woman get this much romantic and sexual attention ...
Ok, all of it ;)
Sorry,, I'm a little bitter over a short story I was led to believe was a "reverse harem story " , when really it was a m/m/m/f, sorry but it's not a reverse harem is the woman isn't getting ALL the attention to herself, if the men are booting themselves w/out her ? What's the point? And if she's having to share ,they aren't completely hers...
Sorry, but I hate being blindsided like that...
Thank you Ms.Dawn
