Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.
Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.
All of these books are really tying together nicely. Creepy, and bloody. I love the bonus chapters at the end of the book that provides history of how each place gets haunted. Lots of fun
Another will written fantasy world 🌎 haunting horror ghost 👻 demon adventure thriller novel by Ron Ripley and Scare Street (Berkley Street Series book 7). Shawn and Frank are once again involved in the adventure of having to deal with the demon that has killed a number of people. They end up ☝ dealing with two demon ghost 👻, one ☝ at the Berkley Street house and the other at Slater Mill. I would highly recommend this series and Scare Street authors to readers of haunting horror novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to books 📚. 2022 😮😈🗾off
Oh... this one made me shiver a few times. One ghost is determined to bring back the entire crew he needs to run the mill. The Watchers are now busy, trying to get rid of Shane and Frank, but they are about to find that the two men are harder to kill than anyone else they have faced.
I received the Audiobooks.com version of this book as a gift from Scare Street Publications. Slater Mill is the seventh in the Berkley Street Series and this series just keeps getting better and better. Shane Ryan, battered and bruised though he may be, continues to kick ghostly butt only this time he has earned the wrath of a group of living killers who call themselves The Watchers. It seems they have had a hand in haunted happenings in New England for decades and now find Shane and Frank are their biggest obstructions to continuing their evil deeds. This book begins to lay the foundation for a climax that will no doubt occur in Book 9, yet to be released. On top of the horrors of Slater Mill, Shane and Frank must deal with a slowly recovering Courtney, who teeters between her former gentle self and her madwoman self and the return of Jack White, who made his deadly appearance in earlier books. I gave Slater Mill five stars because, quite frankly, I enjoyed it more than the first six books. Those are all excellent reads, but this one has a bit more meat to it, at least in my opinion. It is somewhat darker than some of the earlier books and has a more complex plot as well. If the final two books of this series are as good as this one, I'll dive in gladly.
Contains spoilers The latest (for me) adventure of Shane Ryan and his friends was okay. Not as good as some but a lot of back story is now being further developed. The Watchers are now starting to take full shape and it will be interesting to see where they go from here and what plans they have for Shane. Courtney is back, a little less demented and not wanting Shane dead, quite as much! Last two books to go. It's been a great series and I'm looking forward to the resolution.

Another great story about my favorite ghost hunter team! Our hero Shane has become as haunted as the sites he visits. This story is just as much about Shane's issues than about the ghost.
"""BOOK 1 (BERKLEY STREET) - I really enjoyed this book. I read this book after meeting Shane in the MOVING IN series. This has been a very good series so far. BOOK 2 (THE LIGHTHOUSE) - This has to be my favorite Ron Ripley story so far. The characters are all very well done. BOOK 3 (THE TOWN OF GRISWOLD) - A nice book. The characters continue to be well done. So far I am enjoying this series more than the MOVING IN series....and I also enjoyed that series. BOOK 4 (SANFORD HOSPITAL) - This is probably my second favorite book in this series. I really like the addition of one character in particular. The way this book ended makes me wonder if that person will be a returning character in the series.... BOOK 5 (KURKOW PRISON) - This book was a good read too. It was not one of the better books in the series. I may have to read it again because I feel like there are some things that I missed the first time. BOOK 6 (LAKE NUTAQ) - This one was also good. More elements to the story appear to be being added. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. BOOK 7 (SLATER MILL) Still a good book. I am continuing the series. I do still feel like I need a reread to find things that I missed.
1. Still not really a ghost story Pierre is another brutal psychopath but it is not a horror, more gore. 2. The priest character was super interesting but completely underdeveloped. 3. The lady cop blowing off and turning against Shane was out of character and silly. 4. I do love the idea of a secret society trying to tie together ghost energy-interesting. 5. Courtney is still insanely annoying. I don't really buy the supposed deep love they have for each other which came out of nothing. The rob-the-cradle aspect aside, they only knew each other a short time, so not buying this. 6. Shane becomes more unlikable, besides alcoholic, chain-smoking, now suicidal. 7. Again a brutal, but simple story and not a horror in my opinion.
What could happen at an abandoned mill? Frankly, everything. As the body count begins to stack, Shane goes to Slater Mill to put an end to one particular spectre's killing spree. But Pierre Gustav has many trapped souls under his belt, and he has no qualms about using his army against Shane. While struggling with his own issues, Shane is determined not to win this battle, even if it is unevenly sided. But will our battered hero be successful? I really loved this story of Shane's next test of his mettle, and feel like I was standing right next to him during these battles.
This is book number seven in the series but is a great standalone book. This time you have Shane (an X-marine) and Frank (X-military & X-Monk) fighting Pierre the ghost who has done a lot of killing. In this book you have a lot of the character's you have come to know which makes it fun as you're getting to know them.the storyline is interesting and well developed with interesting characters. I love Shane and his family of ghosts. Mr Ripley has a way to keep you on edge. I highly recommend this book.
Another great story about ghost hunters Shane Ryan and Frank Benedict. This time they are fighting not only a sadistic ghost, but a mysterious organization known as the Watchers. Poor Shane has Bern through it but again and again he has managed to come out of it....usually with a missing part of his body but still. Frank and Shane's friendship is one of the highlights of the series. I really am excited to learn more about the watchers and I hope Shane and Frank get a happy ending. Tehn out of 10 would recommend.
I have read all 7 of the Berkley St books and love Shane Ryan and his family of ghosts. The story line keeps you on the edge of your seat yet still develops a connection with Shane that makes you keep coming back for more. The horror is REAL the scared are REAL and the reading is smooth and enjoyable, it also tied nicely into the Moving In series by the same author. If you haven't yet tried either series as a devout reader I highly suggest you do,!
Ive read 7 books in the Berkley Street Series and I’m anxious to start #8. Slater Mill #7 had a most imaginative storyline with how the mill was operating, who worked the machines making what and for who. An intriguing read leaving Shane beaten and wondering if he is trying to kill himself. A positive to this is Courtney seems to be doing better and Slater Mill has a loving end. This is such a great series!
This book was a bit different again, compared to the others in the series. The action is less all-out but the story is still a page turner nonetheless.
The basic gist of this one is of an abandoned mill with a very dark past and a way above average body count. This was surprising in its degree of sadism in the protagonists, both human and otherwise.
Once again, the extra characters add that element that make me so glad I discovered this author!
I liked the idea of an old mill in the story. People really got killed by the ghosts in this story, but it kept things very interesting for Shane and Frank. I love that Carl, Eloise, and Courtney all helped out! That was great teamwork from the ghosts and Shane and Frank. Good old Jack came back to stir things up too, which kept things very interesting as well. I hope Jack is more integrated in the last two books.....
Excellent -as all of the Berkley St. series have been. Ripley has quickly become a favorite of mine.
Slater Mill has been closed for many years. However, lately a few people have turned up dead in brutal ways. Shane is reading the newspaper regarding the deaths and sees something strange at one of the upper deck windows. It’s a glow in the shape of a figure. He’s sure it must be a ghost. He sets off to investigate and hopes the mill doesn’t kill him too.
As has been the case with the last few books in this series, the bonus chapters are way better than the actual book. I would much rather have read more about the past than the goings on at Slater Mill in our time. It just seems to that the ghost problems are solved WAY too easy in this series. The ending was almost identical to the previous book... Not really worth your time if you ask me. Lazy writing.
I'm impressed with Ripley's slow and subtle integration of "The Watchers" organization into the series as well as Shane's prolonged physical and psychological degradation. He isn't really the same guy as he was in book 1 and that's great! The template of Shane fighting an evil boss ghost would be beyond stale by now without "The Watchers" angle which is keeping the series compelling.
Slater Mill is the beginning of a turn in the series where The Watchers is more of a imminent impact on the story. There is a lot that needs to be figured out, but it is moving the overall story along very well. I really liked the extra chapters about Jack at the end of the main story.
Took me a while to finish this even though it's so short. I just kept finding myself putting it down. For some reason it wasn't as creepy to me as the others. I did like the Bonus Scene chapters however, especially Pierre❤ moving on to the next book with high hopes!
What can i say about this series is that i am addicted to the books and i am almost done to. I say read them but this is my own opinion but i won't give spoilers. 5 pinky fingers out of 5
I am loving this story since I have done genealogy for quite some time I had relatives that owned the Slater Mill and they invented some of the machinery for it and their names were Slater! I am surprised by the weird coincidence of the whole thing!
I'm enjoying the series but at this point I am reading them just to finish the series. They are each good ghost stories but getting more far fetched as they go on. The whole watcher storyline takes away from the ghost stories.
