In a peaceful world of seemingly perfect people, Niawen defends the dragons’ paradise from the evils outside their realm. Throughout her life, she was taught that humans would corrupt her inner light and that entering the mortal world means exile.
Mortified when her chosen life mate doesn’t return her feelings, she flees to the mortal realms, despite all the warnings. Her growing affections for the humans are crushed by a new enemy—death, and Niawen willingly defiles her pure light in battle to avenge her friends.
As she fights to overcome her corruption, she faces a sobering truth—the humans she loves will die. Niawen must find the one emrys who came into the mortal world thousands of years ago or risk facing eternity alone.
Fallen Emrys: Niawen’s Story, a romantic fantasy, is the prequel to The Emrys Chronicles. This novel may be enjoyed as a standalone read.
*Note: This book was previously published as Fallen Emrys, a Chronicles of the Half-Emrys prequel.
Romantic fantasy is for you if you like a light, character driven, more traditional fantasy plot, which includes two characters who find themselves drawn to each other, even if they start out as enemies. During a character's journey to develop powers and overcome trials, romance will ensue with bits of tension. The hero or heroine will undoubtedly be fighting some inner battle that makes them bulk at the chemistry with the other character until they slay their inner demons, save the world, and realize there is room in their heart to love.
Romantic fantasy might not be for you if you prefer paranormal fantasy or epic fantasy. Romantic fantasy doesn't have the usual tropes of vampires and werewolves. Usually romantic fantasy novels are set in a high fantasy world, and an ultimate goal, besides love, is sought. Love is just the icing to the cupcake.
Lisa Rector is a Maryland native and could never imagine living anywhere else. She married her high school sweetheart for time and all eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple after she fell in love with his endless sense of humor. Lisa enjoyed a short stint as a labor and delivery nurse before becoming a stay-at-home mom for her two beautiful daughters. In addition to her newfound love of writing, her passions are: her faith in Jesus Christ, gardening, and yoga. Her favorite delights are decadent homemade cakes, cookies, or brownies—never store-bought.
I don't have words to describe how wonderful this book is! I know some people will be surprised to know this, but honestly, I loved this book. I know, romantic fantasy is not my thing, but hey, sometimes you gotta try something new. You'll never know what you'll discover.
First of all, I love dragons. Yes, I admit. It is because of Toothless. But anyways, I think it's amazing that author came up with such an amazing fantasy world with such interesting people, the Emrys, and their powers, light, and dragons!!!
Side note:I don't like Niawen's father, though. I'd just love to know what darkness he's hiding.
Secondly, I love snow, so Yeah babe! This book's warmed its way into my heart!
But the conflicts... I think my heart is kinda bruised. I loved Kenrik! But then his brother was a nice guy too! And Owein, he was just too sweet... And No! Let's not talk about Caedryn.
I can't begin to tell you, the author, how much I appreciate it that the book was a "clean" read. Books like this one are a rare find in today's brazen world. I liked the "highlands" and the "lowlands", and some of the words gave me the impression that the setting is Scottish or Norse. My favourite... hmmmmmmmmm
Wait what??! Was I just slipping away into a daydream? Sheesh, that happens too often for my liking. But it is so nice to just sit very quietly in the window seat, watching the snow fall, and daydream about the book I've just read.
Okay, that is quite enough. You do not want to get sucked into my interior monologue. I'll just say, I loved the book. Maybe I said that already, but anyways. :)
The beginning of the story seemed to ramble a bit, but in the end, everything that happened led into the climax. it's an adventurous story and an interesting concept involving the light and darkness we mortals all contain and how which we embrace has a great effect on us. However, I found the main character to be annoyingly immature, which she laments about often. She is hundreds of years old but acts like a flighty middle schooler. As an immortal from another realm, she is easily seduced by physical sensation and can't figure out how to tell whom she loves. She is impetuous and impulsive. The last part of the book is by far the most intriguing and gripping. This is a prequel, and another reviewer mentioned that she felt you need to read the other books first. I did suffer confusion at all. It seemed a straightforward story.
I really enjoyed this book. After reading Lisa's first novel in this series, The Master of Lies, I was so curious about Niawen's story. This answered all my questions and I really enjoyed how it brought more into the rest of the series. I loved Niawen's realizations about herself and even about the rest of the emrys in her journeys through the book. The moral world is all new to Niawen and it's interesting to see how she deals with that. Sorry, I'm not very good at writing reviews which is why I don't usually do so.
Alright, finally the mystery behind Niawen and her story! Loved reading about how she came to the mortal realm. The love triangle- or quad- or penta? Goodness, it was amusing at times. So much emotion and the life of a lost woman, who finds her self despite adversity. Definitely a must read in the Half-Emrys series!

This is the prequel to The Emrys Chronicles! Niawen is the second immortal to leave the dragon realm, and she has no idea what to expect from humans. Boy is she surprised! Hearts break. Turmoil ensues. I loved writing this darker novel and experiencing Niawen's fall. And even though Caedryn is the villain, he's my favorite character!
