His Brother's Baby

Rate this book
This is the seventh book in the Bad Boy Ballers series.

At one time, nothing was out of my reach: women, fame, money.

After my father’s death, I left the world of professional football to rediscover my purpose in life, but something was missing. I didn’t know what that something was until my brother abandoned his daughter on my doorstep.

I look into the baby's eyes and know that I am all she has.
I will fight for and love and protect her.
Nothing and no one will stop me, not even my brother.

I ran to save my life and my daughter’s. However, I didn’t run far or fast enough. When my ex finds me, he takes everything … including my baby.

Now, I have to save my daughter before it’s too late. When I discover she’s at the Double Mountain Ranch, I pose as a nanny so I can care for her and plan our escape. But I didn’t expect to fall in love with my employer … my ex’s brother.

How can one brother be so different from the other?

This wounded cowboy loves my baby as much as I do.
He can give her the life I never could.
He wants to put a ring on my finger and has already branded my heart.

I want to give in, but I can’t. Will telling him who I am set us both free, or will my secret ruin us both?

This book isn't charting new territory and I'm not a fan of exchanging one brother for another or in this story his half brother. However, the H/h are very likable in this story.

Shawna loses custody of her 5-month old baby to her rich and angry ex-boyfriend Brad because the judge believed the lies Brad told. He doesn't really want the baby, he wants to punish Shawna for leaving him. After the court decision Brad (he's leaving the country) decides to drop the baby off to his half brother Jackson. Jackson knows that Brad is a self absorbed narcissist that should have never been given custody of the baby. Picturing the alternatives, Jackson agrees to take custody of the baby and has the wherewithal to have Brad sign a temporary custody agreement. Brad leaves without a backwards glance.

Jackson and his mother quickly bond with the baby. Meanwhile, Shawna is devastated by her loss. With the help of her best friend she finds out where the baby is and Shawna hatches a plan to steal her baby only she has no money. Her best friend Destiny is able to secure an unconventional loan and the repayment Destiny has to make -- you really don't want to know. Once Shawna arrives and sees the environment in which her baby is living she becomes torn between what she wants, and what the right thing is to do. I appreciated the twist on the pivotal moment(s) and applauded the author for not following the standard script. You'll find yourself rooting for this couple.

I would have liked to have known more about how sweet Shawna got caught up in Brad but there is not much of a backstory on how they met and connected. The one person forgotten in the story is Shawna's best friend, Destiny who made a huge sacrifice to get her the money she needed to get her baby back. It would have been nice to have a reunion between the two friends. Though her part is small, I found myself wanting Destiny to have her own love story.

Not impressed

I love Miami King but this book was just poorly written. The heroine is basic and flat. There were too many issues alluded to but never resolved, and presumptions were never confirmed. On top of that it was poor edited, there were grammatical and point of view errors throughout.

Couldn't put it down

This book was so good. I couldn't put it down. I fell so in love with Jackson, from the first time he entered the scene. Shawna is a very strong young woman who has been through so much. There was a couple of things I wish happened. More on how she met Brad & more of what Jackson thoughts were. There was a key point and I wish we got to see what Jackson was feeling. Also the book kept switching from first person to third. It threw me off a bit but bother than that the book was really good!!!!

I really liked this book. The plot was interesting and kept me hooked. I'm a sucker for single dad types and this book had it in spades.

Jackson was a great man that you can't help but love from the start of the book. Shawna was so strong. I felt her pain but I also felt her strength for what she had to go through.

I loved the plot. It was funny, and steamy but also kept me wondering what was going to happen with Brad. I enjoyed reading every chapter while waiting for the other shoe to drop.

There were some things like names not being right that made me have to reread the same part to make sure I didn't miss anything and while it didn't take away from the book was was just a little annoying.

My biggest disappointment was. It seeing Shawna's best friend. We see her for a few pages at the start of the book but after that, there isn't much as a mention of her, and with everything that goes on, you would think she needed to atleast talk to her.

Overall, become my first book by this author I really enjoyed it. It was told in Fist POV and also by both characters which helped me connect better with both of them. This won't be my last book by this author. 4 stars #2OCCJD

Losing against her husband in a custody battle Shawna doesn’t know what to do, until she finds out that her baby is staying with her ex’s brother, and goes to the ranch only to mistaken for the new nanny.
Jackson didn’t expect his brother to drop a bundle off at his ranch or that bundle to be a baby, what he didn’t think was that he would adore the baby, or that the nanny he hired would drag so many feelings from him.
Shawna tries to keep who see if a secret but after a confrontation with her ex she knows she has to tell Jackson.
With Jackson and Shawna getting closer she knows she needs to tell him, particularly her ex shows up.
With a lot of twists and turns they finally end up with their happily ever after.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It definitely engaged me emotionally. It's much more than just a romance story & I had an anxious anticipation build-up trying to figure out how the author will tie up this drama. Most of it is so realistic that I just got caught up in their world. Jackson is as perfect as a man can be, he's very compassionate without all the arrogance that usually is automatic with most rich guys. Shawna, I felt so sorry for her and can't imagine having to deal with all the things she went through. They belong together, even Lillian was great & paid a very important part is this triangle.

A book for people who feel they must finish every book they pick up.

The story is interesting, but the writing is horrible. The author constantly switches from third person perspective to first person perspective, and suddenly changes from current to past tense in the same paragraph. I don't believe anyone proofread or edited this book - there are tons of grammatical errors, words missing, words repeated, and several times I believe some kind of grammar check was used, but both choices were left in the sentence. Sometimes, the grammar was so bad it was hard to follow what was going on.

Justice gets served...

Brad is the father of Shawna's baby, Tami. He convinces the court Shawna is an unfit mother and she loses custody. She finds out Brad takes Tami to his brother's house and leaves her there. She becomes the nanny. Jackson falls for the unsuspecting nanny with a little push from his mother, Lillian. A good read!

Wow

I really enjoyed reading this story the twists and turns and the drama. It was even nice to see Christian and his wife make an appearance too. Loved the interaction between Shawna and Jackson and just loved his mom too. Now I'm looking forward to reading her friend Destiny's story next!

His Brother's Keeper

A good and well written story but the storyline seemed improbable. I enjoyed seeing Shawna mature and decide to take charge of her life and stop living in fear.

Poorly edited

The premise is good and the characters are too, but there are several errors. The word tense keeps changing from first person to third. Paragraphs repeating, words missing. Overall good story, but what happened to Lillian, Destiny, and Lindsey?

I like the storyline

I like the storyline but the book needs to be edited again a lot of little mistakes for instants one sentence has the word up twice.(I’ll go to Hood River and pick up something up.”) there's a few more like that.

Loved it

Great story. Loved the main couple. Shawna loved Tamara and she was in love with Jackson. Lillian was a great mother. Jackson was the loving hero. The judge was an idiot. Brad was the devil. Anastasia was the evil witch. A must read.

Mostly enjoyed the book. There are a few spelling mistakes, and keeps changing from I to she in the same sentence when on about the same person, which is confusing and annoying. But the actual storyline is really good. Properly edited this could easily get the 5 star rating.

There was definitely something wrong with that @$$wole Brad. One of the few times I will say he doesn't deserve a happy ending unless they diagnose him w something to explain his problem. The rest of the story was good some scenes puttered out.

I love it!

Imani, you have an exquisite gift. You have a way with your stories. I'm in awe! I wonder what's next. I thought Jackson was never going to figure it out. Shawna is not good with lying. Brad should have figured, you can't keep a mom from her child. What would make Brad think after the way he treated Shawna that she would want him? Brad have some serious issues. I love the ending.

An Exciting and Sensual Interracial Romance

His Brother's Baby (Bad Boy Ballers) is an exciting and sensual interracial romance novel that earned a rating of five stars. Shawna is an bruised by her ex, who has taken away her baby. On his way out of the country he gives the baby to his brother. When Shawna finds her she has to pretend to be her nanny to be near her. Shawna and the baby's uncle fall in love and have to overcome a lot of obstacles to find their happy ever after. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading very good romance novels.

On the fence

I'm not really sure what is going on with Imani King but the quality of her work is becoming sketchy. There were several points in this story, where in the middle of a sentence, it goes from first person to third person. Like, it's starting to become a hit or miss with her series. I think this is like the sixth book in the baller series, only a couple were decent. This one is about Shawna, who has custody of her baby given to the douche bag father, who of course only wanted the kid to spite her. Brad, douchey dad, drops said baby to his brother Jackson because he can't deal. Shawna, tracks her baby to the ranch to kidnap her daughter but ends up taking job to be her own kid's nanny. So, yeah the story wasn't told in a compelling way, so that didn't keep me totally engaged in the story and then the switching back and forth between first and third person in the same sentence was a bit much. I keep reading Imani King's because I'm a fan but if the story quality keep diminishing, I will have to gave stories by this author a break.

I absolutely loved this story!!! Once again, Ms. Imani captured my attention!! I didn't know what to expect when I read the title of this book. I knew it would be good, I haven't read an Imani King book yet that wasn't good, I just wasn't sure how a romance can come from a title such as this!! But leave it to Ms. Imani to pull out all of the stops!!! I was hoping for the budding relationship between the main characters to wait until marriage to consummate their relationship. But I was not disappointed that they couldn't wait. And I loved the cameo of Christian and Liana Corbett!!!! I love the way each story can connect in some way or another!! That is very original in my book!!
I only had two problems with the story; (1) There was a few typo's that needed to be corrected. (2) I wasn't ready for the story to end.

AWESOME JOB AS ALWAYS IMANI!!! CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE NEXT BOOK!!!!

Errors Galore

I liked the concept of the book. The characters were relatable. And it was nice to have an appearance from one of the infamous Corbett brothers.

With that said, the editing made it hard to keep up with simple conversations. The narrative would go from first person to third person. Some chapters Identified as "Shawna" would at times come across from Jackson's point of view & vice versa. If editing changes are made this would be a much better read.

I would have liked to know what happened with the best friend that helped the heroine get her HEA. I think more should have been said about her. Was it so easy to throw away their friendship after all best friend did for her?

It was an interesting love story but the editing was bad. It was distracting. I was happy to see Liana and Christian in the story but it wasn't her best novel.

The story has a good foundation but one was confused one was telling the story, bad editing and kind of meh ending
