He was the mistake I never forgot. Now my life depends on him.
As soon as the death threats started, my record label called in the best bodyguard in the business. There was just one problem: I’d already met the man assigned to protect me and had spent the last few years trying my damnedest to forget him.
But there was no forgetting a man like Ash Devereaux.
Now we’re hiding out deep in the Oregon woods, and while I should be terrified about the madman who’s hunting me, I’ve never felt more alive … and never more so than when I’m down on my knees for Ash, begging for the things only he can give me.
And now it’s not just my life that’s in danger—my heart is on the line, too. Can I trust Ash to protect them, or will our passion burn us both to the ground?
USA Today bestselling author Rebecca Norinne writes sexy romance from the heart. When not banging away at the keyboard, she is watching rugby, playing board games, or drinking a pint of craft beer.
Originally from California, she now resides in New England with her husband and two cats where she is renovating a house built in the 1700s and trying valiantly not to be eaten alive by mosquitos.
3.5 Lots of Wrongs Making Them Right Stars * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free Take the Young Country Singer married to Everyone's Favorite and then have her betrayed. Have her be the subject of Lyin', Cheatin' and all things Unholy from her Ex Superstar...and see what happens...
What happens is a need to drown ones sorrows the only way she knows how...by doing her gigs and then hitting the booze and men...After all, if Mr. Beloved By All in Country Music is going to spread lies about her, she might as will live up to them, right...
And live up to them or should she say down to them, she did.. for Rae was in a spiral that was heading for a an ugly crash... she just wasn't there yet. She hadn't had enough faceless men or enough booze to drown away the hurt her ex had inflicted.
She was in a no name dive on the way to another low level gig when she saw a man who looked like he didn't give a shit either...They ended up together after Rae had drunk herself to where she needed to be and the hook up turned out to be very different...it wasn't faceless or meaning less...She had felt something... and it seems this guy named Ash did too...
Ash took a look at the woman who was moving around the room and practically throwing him out of it... He saw the pain in her eyes... he saw there was a loneliness and lost look...He started to say he would be there to help her if she wanted but as quickly as the words came out... she blew him off.
Fine...He could live with that...Although she sure seemed lost.
Fast forward to a year or so. Rae did hit bottom and recovered through a hardcore rehab. She has started to build her way back and has been working her program. Things emotionally are a bit better but her ex's fans have made it their mission in life to bully her and talk crap. They have fed into all the lies he has spun.
At first Rae tried to just let it all roll off her back and let it go. But lately, things have turned really ugly... and now she cannot deny she may be in peril. Someone out there has been sending letters and things to show they wish her dead...and it is time to bring in security..
She is at the security company's office with her best friend and assistant Charlotte. Her manager and the police detective advised after the last episode to remove herself from her home until they catch who is doing this. Everyone is in the conference room and they are going over the plan... Charlotte will stay in one location with her bodyguard and Rae will be in another with hers.
As the manager, Rae and Charlotte go back and forth with the Security team about whether splitting them up is necessary, Rae's Bodyguard walks into the room.
Yup, It is Ash... the man from the hook up... the one she thinks about and wonders if she had only handled things differently... what would have happened. Ash takes one look at her... and the boss senses there is "A Thing" there and asks if that is going to be a problem...Both say no...
But Oh, Boy ... These two together locked away in an isolated place...Yup there is going to be a problem alright...Trying to keep their hands and mouths off each other.
Of, course there is so much more to this story then just their attraction to each other. Rae is taking a stand and fighting back. She is no longer going to allow her ex to run the show. She is going to do a tell all interview about what her marriage was really like, name names if necessary and then get on with making the music she loves.
It turns out Ash had a background in music, recording and singing so he will work as the engineer and record her new tracks while they are in hiding.
This tale is not all sugar and spice. Rae had her backstory and Ash had a very complicated past which had scarred him. Yet the two of them found that they were able to see their way clear of the secrets and lies. He provided what she needed and she was someone who allowed him to heal.
There is suspense with the stalker, sexy intense time between Ash and Rae and a HEA in the end. It seems a book for Charlotte is coming.
A gifted copy was provided by author/publisher for an honest review.
Ashes to Ashes is a steamy adventure that introduces us to two main characters, Rae, a young singer recently sober who suddenly finds herself the target of an obsessed stalker, and Ash, the scarred, sexy bodyguard who will protect her at any cost.
The writing is sultry and smooth. The characters are flirty, vulnerable, and stubborn. And the plot sweeps you away into a push-pull storyline filled with smoldering chemistry, insatiable lust, emotion, suspense, violence, sex, music, and love.
Overall, even though Ashes to Ashes wasn’t my favourite novel by Norinne if you’re looking for a story with lots of sexual tension, dirty talk, and heat with a happy-ever-after ending this one won’t disappoint.
Thank you to InkSlingerPR and Rebecca Norinne for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Blurb: He was the mistake she never forgot. Now her life depends on him.
Country music darling Rae Griffin is back. She's conquered her addictions, and she's ready for her comeback tour. But when a series of death threats begins to unravel her plans, Rae's team calls in the big guns for her protection. There's just one catch: her brand-new bodyguard turns out to be the one-night stand she never forgot—no matter how hard she tried.
Rae can fight it all she wants, but she's drawn to Ash Devereaux even more than she was at her darkest. But Ash has demons of his own, and she's tumbling into love with a man who can never love her back. Rae knows she should walk away before it's too late, but she's hooked—and Ash is the sweetest addiction she's ever known.
The minute I read the blurb to Ashes to Ashes I was intrigued. I loved the idea of a woman who found herself at the end of her rope who dragged herself up by the bootstrings to get back to who she was. I loved that Rae was not only strong and sexy but tough and sassy when she had to be. She knew she was her own worst enemy and would allow nothing to stand in her way or be the catalyst for a downward spiral again. For this reason I felt like Ash was the perfect guy for her. He literally saw Rae during one of the lowest periods in her life and still could not get her out of his head years later. I honestly could not get enough of this sexy couple!! What a fantastic story.
The one thing country music superstar Rae Griffin does not need right now is a dangerous stalker. Already under intense scrutiny due to a highly publicized divorce and overdose and launching a comeback, what happens when the one man she could not forget comes back into her life as her bodyguard? Can she give up control so he can show her what she has been missing or will a stalker derail their second chance permanently?
I really enjoyed this story. I loved Ash and Rae's chemistry and the intense attraction they have for each other. I LOVED Ash's HOT need for control *ahem* and thought his own vulnerabilities and history was so sad. I was hooked from the getgo. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula
This was an enjoyable book full of angst with characters I really liked.
Rae was country music's rising star until her personal life fell apart. Her superstar husband betrayed her but his legions of fans turn on her. Rae meets Ash when she's on her downward spiral using drink drugs and sex to ease her pain. When she starts receiving threats she is reunited unexpectedly with one of her one nighters Ash.
I love reading about strong women and eventually that's what you get with Rae. After losing everything she becomes determined to get her life back on track, the moment she starts fighting back I cheered her on. Ash is a complicated man with demons that he can't let go of. They are absolutely perfect for each other, although on paper they shouldn't work they are the missing piece each other need.
The drama and danger is ever present due to Rae's stalker who is determined to get to her. Loved the heat between them as a couple are hot hot hot. Can they deal with the outside pressures and have a lasting future?
The first book I read by Rebecca Norinne was Trying Sophie, the first book of the Dublin Rugby series. I found it while looking for second chance romances. Ashes to Ashes is also a second chance romance book but it’s different from Trying Sophie in that it’s a second chance for Ash and Rae to find true love with each other after realizing the people they thought were their first loves were not. Rae is a country singer superstar and Ash is a badass former Army Green Beret. Everything isn’t always as it seems on the surface. They both have demons to battle and that makes them real and relatable. The interactions between Rae and Ash are smoking hot. You may not want to read this in public if you have a tendency to blush during those intimate scenes! But definitely pick this one up and lock yourself in a room for a day to find out what happens when Rae and Ash try to battle their demons with each other!
Hold on for just a second while I put out the flames from this scorching hot and absolutely beautiful story. This book is very different from Rebecca's previous works. While her other books don't lack in the heat department, this one turns it up about 10 notches while still delivering the most beautiful love story. This book will slither it's way into your heart and soul and make you feel so satisfied.
Let's start with Rae. Rae is a tough cookie. She may have gone down a bad path in dealing with how her ex-husband treated her, but make no mistake about it, she is one tough chick. She is fed up with being treated like dirt and has no problem standing up for what she now wants in life. Her happiness is her priority and I so admire that in a strong woman.
Now onto Ash. Oh Ash. I freaking LOVE Ash. He is a badass alpha male with a dominant side and a need to be loved that he can't see. He's been through a lot in his life, like Rae, though they're stories are significantly different. He is her rock way before the two of them even realized it.
When these two are forces back together after a one night stand, both are left facing the hidden feelings they've harbored all this time. The chemistry is off the charts explosive. The way they emotionally connect though, that takes the cake. Rebecca has seriously stepped her game in a big way with this book, proving the immense diversity she possess with her writing skills. Every book she has released has been nothing short of 5- 6 stars, and I don't forsee that changing anytime soon with the talent she repeatedly shows us.
Ashes to Ashes by Rebecca Norinne tells the story of Rae Griffin, the country darling who is making a comeback. She fought her demons and is now ready to move forward. But when her life is threatened, the man hired to protect her is the same one-night stand she never forgot.
I loved how strong Rae was. She hit rock bottom but lifted herself up. She was determined to move forward and put her past behind her. Ash had his own demons as well. He was strong, protective and a total alpha. He wanted to protect Rae, but could he truly let her in? The attraction they felt was strong and intense. But can these troubled souls find a way to each other?
I really enjoyed reading Ashes to Ashes by Rebecca Norinne. Rae and Ash had great chemistry and were good together, they just had to find their way. Add in some suspense and you get a story that will grip you from start to finish.
Ashes to Ashes is my first book by Rebecaa Norinne and I am so happy that I have discovered her and her work. From the start, I was instantly hooked into the story line. The writing was smooth and it was easy to connect to the characters.
We all like the bodyguard romance stories, right? I mean, who wouldn't want a smoking hot bodyguard falling on their knees for you? I know I certainly wouldn't mind that. And while I can admit that there are a lot of these type of romance stories out there, Ashes to Ashes held my attention way more than most of them.
I think what I liked the most about it was that both Ash and Rae are so relatable. They both have their own demons to battle. They both a past that they have to face.
Rae is so strong in this story. She may be the one with a torrid past but she owns it, learns from it and fights to grow from it. Watching her get back more and more of who she really is when she was with Ash was a breath of fresh air. From the start, I wanted her to find happiness and I enjoyed watching her find it with him.
And Ash...whew. Now we have a hot bodyguard who is ex military and likes control in the bedroom. Yeah, I'm gonna need a lot of that. Keep that mouth dirty, Ash because I'm feeling it. But at the same time, he has a bit of vulnerability in him that makes you relate to him even more. He's harboring some of his own emotions so it's nice to see him work that out with Rae.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see what the author does next. You can bet that I will certainly read it. If you are looking for a story with a bodyguard with a dirty mouth and the need for some control in the bedroom and the country singer who fits right into his world, then this is the book for you. Give it a whirl!

When a story sticks with you, and keeps pinging around in your brain (okay, my brain) for a while (I was given a copy early) after reading it, it’s good.
How far down in the dumps can someone go? Rae hits bottom pretty far and hard, and while she’s on her way down sleeping with random men while on her concert tours, she sleeps with one memorable man who reaches her in a way no other has - but at the time, that’s the end of it. Two years later, we meet Ash again and we find out she’d hit a chord with him, too. She’s got a threatening, active stalker and Ash is part of the team hired to protect her. And this is where the story really takes off.
Norinne hits the authentic button hard, more than once, and while the situation may seem melodramatic when you hear the bare outline told, this is a real thing for celebrities and anyone in the spotlight. Just ask a Kardashian, right? Anyway, these are two damaged people. The psychology works, and when things are out of control, Rae needs help with pushing the crazy aside while hopefully not endangering her own fragile emotional peace. It’s a tightrope on all fronts. Will they fall off? Will Rae manage to keep her sobriety? Will Ash survive, period?
Ashes to Ashes, Dusk to Dusk who in the country world do you think were the muses for this story? I have a few that I thought in my head and the man was a mix between a few country men to be one whole. The girl is a given. You may have it all, but it can go in the blink of an eye as we all know. Just ask Rae, she may be a successful country star, but her life is far from perfect. She numbs her pain with sex and alcohol; however, that’s all they are is one-night stands. She my turn her life around; however, when one from the past becomes her bodyguard due to a recent madman how do you control the urge when you worked so hard to be sober? Ash is a temptation that Rae never forget and the same goes for Ash. He didn’t know back then that she was famous. When they learn he is going to be her protector and help in her writing music (comeback CD) can they put all demons aside and make music (in more than one way) or do you walk away from it all? Ash knew from that one moment that Rae was broken, but he saw something even back then. Their chemistry was intense before and again when they reconnect. Both of their stories were sad. They will hook you and you will be rooting for them to not only find the madmen, but be rooting for them to rediscover themselves and find their own HEA. Can they move forward or is it a lost cause? Read the story and find out. The suspense and romance are spot on and a spanking five stars.
Ashes to Ashes by Rebecca Norinne ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Ms. Norinne sure does pack a punch! Since being targeted by a stalker, Rae Griffin, superstar sex and alcohol addict, needs a body guard. The man chosen for that position is the same man she sent on his way after a wild one night stand. She originally met him in a bar, now he's her "keeper". Both of these characters are drawn to each other, for good or bad. What ensues is nothing short of thrilling. They both have their own deep seated issues that they each need to overcome before ever moving on with each other or anyone else. Can they do it? What are the secrets they hold? Ms. Norinne's characterizations including their best friends and handlers, are spot on and thoroughly engrossing. Trying to catch the stalker while redeeming her career and claiming a relationship is completely overwhelming, but she's going to try, with everything she's got. Loved these characters and loved the passion within. The author and her book get my 5 star rating! I voluntarily reviewed this Advance Readers Copy for an honest review.
I am new to Rebecca's book ... she has been on my TBR list and I am happy 2 jump on her bandwagon (so to speak) and check out what is does write and all that jazz ... gorgeous cover. look forward to seeing what else she does write in the future. This is a bad boy, with a horrible past to shallow kind of read ..nothing say that Rae doesn't have her own struggles through her musical work. What life does have some baggage no matter what you do or say? Quick read. If I recall I got it free on Amazon ... love finding new authors when that happens ... smart move ... get a new reader hooked and then you will have a life-er... the c word happens through this book and you know back when I was a teen I did have a problem with the word ... it held kind of dislike or hate for the word, but I think that is with any word, it is how it is used and whether who is using it is saying in a hateful way? can you not let it bug you and move on or what? but that is just life, do you have a no worries kind of way about things or are you going to let it all drive ya nuts?!? ...but now I kind of don't mind it ... I think this read ... how it is used it is no biggie. Check it out. ( ;
This was a novel that contained suspense, romance, twists and turns that kept me enthralled from the final page. The characters in this book were so fun to read and learn about and this made the book an amazing story. The feistiness and determination that Rae showed made me fall in love with her. When she finds herself in a dangerous situation what happens to career and her spunk? The chance to learn what can make her happy, just might lie with the person who is protecting her. Thank you for allowing me to read this and write about it honestly.
This book had some very intense moments in it and from the beginning I was hooked.
Rae is trying desperately to get over her ex but the non stop drinking, and the endless men who she doesn't know in her bed are bringing her to the rock bottom but one night stays in her mind and a year later when she has fought her addiction to drinking she is now having to get protection for her life and in walks him the man who she still thinks of , they both have pasts that they have to fight against but they both can be what heals each others
This was such an unbelievable story! I absolutely loved it. Ash and Rae are real characters. full of history and emotion and flaws. They really are two broken halves of the same whole.
They had a one night stand and two years later, he's now going to be her bodyguard. They've thought about each other since that night, but he didn't even know who she was until he just walked into the room. He's the one that can make things better for her, even though he believes the opposite. When they are hiding from her stalker, just the two of them in the house, they can't manage to stay professional and find all they need in each other.
They are Both broken and they can't deny they feel something. It started as a one-night stand and was supposed to end There. After few years Rae's life is in danger and she needs a bodyguard. And he will be Ash her one-night stand. Sparkle flies. She can't stop thinking about him. Will she allow him to have her in complete submission? Only that will mean they have something. Ash didn't know Rae when they had one night. Now he knows her. And his dark side needs control over her. Will he allow her to have his Heart? Things that happen are about out internal needs. Will Ash and Rae survive meeting with the person that treat her? I loved this story!
Rae's story starts out like a fictionalized version of Miranda Lambert's musical career and the aftermath of her marriage to Blake Shelton. I kept flipping through the pages because her vulnerability & her running from her pain, and even her hitting bottom felt so real and relatable. It was impossible to read the story without her hurt reaching palpably through the pages to you. She is ready to let the world know her pain and hear her side of the story of her marriage, in the best way she knows: her music.
Ash seems to be the opppsite of Rae: cool-headed and closed off emotionally. But throughout the story, you learn about what led to his closed-off personality, and what weight he carries with him always, and he learns to trust and share all that.
They are thrown together through unusual circumstances, two years after a one-night stand. The chemistry sizzles between them, and that kindles a love that catches both of them off-guard. And being who they are, and how hurt they've been in the past, both their instincts -- at first -- are to run and pretend that they don't care.
Despite that, they are able to confront their fears and come together in vulnerability & strength. But just when you are excited that they are about to have their HEA, the Chekov's gun goes off and you fear for their fate. Then you realize it's 1/2 of a duo and that you have to find out what happened later! Omg! :D I want to read the end now!
Also: Rebecca puts the D in BDSM in this story. Just sayin'. :D
ASHES TO ASHES is darker than my other books, but after listening to Miranda Lambert's VICE on loop all spring, I knew I had to write a story about a singer who'd hit rock bottom and how she clawed her way back to the top (with the help of one hell of an alpha by her side). I hope you enjoy Rae and Ash despite their many flaws, and that you'll embrace this story about the healing power of love.
Rae and Ash are two wounded souls living life, when fate brings them together not once, but twice. The second meeting allows them to explore their attractions further, while Ash protects Rae from a serious threat. The only part I didn't like? Having to wait until fall for the second half. This book is hot!
Reading this new story by Rebecca Norinne and I had the last proof about what I already knew: I love her books and they're definitely my cup of tea. She changes the settings of her novels, changes her characters, but her skills to give life to intense stories are still the same, she captures and she could make you feel the emotions through what her characters are living and feeling. I like the way this author see things, her idea of how a relationship works, she gets under my skin, allowing me to identify myself with the story I'm reading. Speaking of "Ashes to Ashes" the first thing I thought reading it is that I truly believe in life we can fall in love and live with people who are simply toxic for us, loving them hurts us. We love them and the only thing they can do is absorb our life energy, sucking it away like vampires, turning us into an empty shell. And that's how it was between Rae and her ex-husband, a great love that has always worked in a unilateral way and turned against her, causing her a pain so deep that she was unable to move on, trying to alleviate the pain drowning everything with alcohol and sex, becoming the true incarnation of all it's said and thought of the dissolute life of rockstars. Anonymous one-night stands, changing them every night places and people, stories that leave her nothing and of which often she doesn't remember anything, a total mess. One of these men is Ash. With him Rae for a few seconds feels he is different from the others, but she's still too lost and for both of them it isn't the right time and after a night of passion they continue their lives on opposite paths. This is one of the things I appreciated most in this story and that in my opinion made it so true: the fact Rae had first wanted to face her inner demons, her dependence on alcohol, the consequences of everything she has done, and alone she chooses to rebuild her life and learn to love and respect herself. She has her frailties, but she fights against them every day and from this past has reborn a strong, tough woman. At this very moment Fate puts Rae on Ash's path again. Rae's life is seriously in jeopardy because of a stalker, obsessed with her, who becomes more and more aggressive and dangerous, for her and for the people she loves. Ash is the man in charge of protecting her, he's her bodyguard and with him Rae must disappear and live in an isolated place, while the others will hunt down her stalker. The attraction that pushes them towards each other is undeniable, the sexual tension almost palpable, but at the same time there are barriers they both have built around themselves because they don't want to get too close with others. Both Rae and Ash have a past that has marked them, Rae's mistakes are in front of eyes of everyone, while Ash hides everything and he can't let Rae in, preferring to keep everything under control. He cares for her but he's the one who could irrevocably hurt her, putting at risk everything she tried to build after leaving the rehab. It's an amazing story, that shows and makes you feel all the conflicting emotions of Ash and Rae when they are together, the passion unleashed between them, their inability to stay away, the intimate connection that unites them - a special and unique bond they both fear - but Rae is ready to fight hard with Ash to win his heart. I really liked Rae and I also loved Ash. I love him for being so dominant - inside and outside the bedroom - dark, but at the same time protective, I like confidence he has about himself, his hotness and physicality and how he can "read" what Rae feels for him, his cockyness and his dirty talk. Together they are perfect and whole. If you love this author, this book is a must-read, if you don't know her it's a good way to start doing it. I really hope in the future there will be a story about Charlotte and Gage, who in this novel are secondary characters. The premises on them seem to be very very interesting.
Rae Griffin first meets Ash Devereaux just as she’s about to hit rock bottom. Even through the fog of alcohol and despair, she recognises in him something that makes her feel. Something that makes her want him to understand her. Though she responds to him both physically and emotionally, Rae turns her back on Ash, afraid to reach out, and spirals further down…
18 months of sobriety later, Rae might be slowly winning her internal battles but the battles being waged by her ex-husband are still ongoing. Ford (her ex) and his spin doctors have excelled in spreading lies, innuendoes and gossip. The situation reaches fever point when Rae is personally threatened and needs the services of a bodyguard.
Enter Ash. Yes, that Ash from back then. They both recognise each other and it’s clear the attraction between them is still there.
To protect her from this unknown threat, Ash and Rae remove themselves to an isolated property until the culprit is caught. In this secluded setting, everything is amped up - feelings, thoughts, actions, reactions.
Physically and sexually Ash and Rae are dynamite. It takes them little time to become in tune with one another and the results are scorching hot to read. Ash definitely likes to dominate play but I did not find it over the top. As an aside, anything BDSM-ish does little for me. Well, it might make me laugh or roll my eyes but it doesn’t turn me on. I was slightly worried about reading this book in case it crossed my boundaries but it did not. The too frequent orgasms-on-demand had me scoffing but overall that’s a minor quibble .
As hot as the sexy-times between them are, I was more interested in what brought them to this point in their lives. Rae, no thanks to having lived a very public life is more of a known entity. Further, she is recording an album that tells the warts and all story about her marriage. Just imagine how hard it is to try and move on but still focus on songs and music that take you back to a time you would sooner forget.
Ash himself is harbouring secrets and he knows that telling Rae might be the end of them. She was a pawn in her drama but he definitely has responsibility for some of his actions. As Rae lets go physically, Ash does so emotionally and in time lets down enough of his barriers to allow Rae to see the real him.
In amongst the seriousness and danger, there are some light-hearted moments throughout out the book. Rae has got quite a mouth on her and Ash lives to push her buttons at times.
It’s not integral to the story but I would have liked to hear that ex-husband and his cronies got their just desserts. Then again, Rae is no longer living a life where they factor into anything she does, so perhaps it’s for the best.
Just WOW, what an exciting and emotion journey the author will take you on with Ashes to Ashes. The book is very well written and with characters you will come to love (and maybe want to bop their heads together on occasions). They will tear your heart out with their inner struggles yet have you smiling and wishing for a HEA on occasions when things go right.
Our heroine, country singer Rae Griffin, hits rock bottom with her husband divorces her and starts spreading horrendous lies. Due to a Pre-Nup, Rae is helpless to defend herself so she starts to spiral out of control. But when she finally get her head on straight and decides to tour again, she starts to get death threats. Is it her someone in her ex’s camp? Did she wrong someone during her drunken downward spiral? Is it an irate fan?
As things escalate her manager hires her a bodyguard. When the bodyguard arrives, it’s none other than Ash Devereaux, the one night stand that she never knew his name and she never forgot. Ash was also shocked. After searching for her for months and finally giving up, here she is 2 years later standing in front of him. Both are broken souls. Ash is hiding secrets he’s never told another living soul but one thing he knows is he’s good at his job and past or no past he would keep Rae safe.
When these two get together it’s explosive (and not always in a good way either). The banter, the push and pull, the desires versus the right thing to do, what’s right and what’s wrong: these two go through it all while at the same time trying to find peace with their own inner struggles and stay one step ahead of a killer. This is an excellent read that will have you on the edge one minute and smiling the next. I HIGHLY Recommend reading Ashes to Ashes, you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up.
He was the mistake I never forgot. Now, my life depends on him.
I’m back, bitches! I’ve conquered my addictions, and I’m ready for my next world tour. But when a series of death threats unravels my plans, my manager calls in the big guns at McClintock Security for my protection. There’s just one catch: my bodyguard turns out to be the one night stand I never forgot … no matter how hard I tried.
I can fight it all I want, but I’m drawn to Ash even more than I was at my darkest. But he has demons of his own, and I’m falling in love with a man who can never love me back. I know I should walk away before it’s too late, but I'm hooked. And Ash is the sweetest addiction I’ve ever known.
This was my first novel by Rebecca Norinne, and won't be my last. Rebecca was able to capture the griddiness and rawness I felt and put it into beautiful words. Rae is country music's sweetheart, she had the perfect life - married to her famous husband, no longer loving in poverty and then bam all of it's gone! Hubby cheated, and to make matters worse - he made Rae look like the one in fault and Rae? She just took it (which pissed me off) So, what do you do, when everyone is calling you a whore, yada yada? You go and be one.. from one night stand to one night stand, Rae drowned in alcohol and men until one day she didn't.. Now scared for her life, she hires some bodyguards.. one of them is the one night stand that stuck with her...
Me personally? I enjoyed the book and finished it one sitting however I wasn't a big fan of the non-stop sex, I wish the book would have developed more on the emotional level then just the physical..
Rae Griffin is destroyed and almost ruins her life as a country singer when her famous husband Ford humiliates her in an interview and announces he is filling for divorce. Once the country’s sweetheart, Rae instantly becomes the most hated celebrity. So, if everyone is going to think it about her, she might as well do it. Rae spirals down to rock bottom sleeping and drinking her way across the country in a blur of concerts and one-night stands.
Now two years later Rae is clean and sober and is trying to put her life and career back on track. With a new album to make Rae doesn’t need another stumbling block but that’s exactly what she gets. Someone is stalking Rae, threatening Rae, and scaring Rae, not just in public, but in the perceived safety of her home too. Needing protection, Rae enlists the help of a security firm and the person assigned to her as her personal bodyguard just happens to be the only one-night stand that Rae couldn’t get out of her head. Ash Deveraux is strong, handsome, and capable of protecting her, but Rae remembers that night and knows that the broken man is also capable of breaking her heart and possibly sending her back to that dark place in the bottom of a bottle. Ash needs to protect Rae, but more importantly he needs to protect himself from getting to close to his new employer.
Rebecca Norinne did an incredible job writing a romantic suspense novel. This story has all the ups and downs, and heartbreak like a normal romance but with this one there is an evil lurking in the shadows just dying to get to the main character Rae Griffin. I have always loved a good suspense story and this one did not disappoint. There is plenty of action and drama within the pages of this story and the dominate alpha will leave you swooning and wanting more. Ashes to Ashes is a four-star read that you can’t wait to finish so you can find out the answer of the ‘who done it.’
I read this book as part of an arc program. I loved this book, it was an emotional ride about a young woman name Rae who was a recovering alcoholic and was in danger from a stalker. Rae was a country music star and she was divorced from another singer. Rae was blindsided with the divorce and because of a gag clause in her prenup, she could never reveal the true story of her marriage. Her ex-husband made her life difficult and she turned to drinking and sex to try to numb things. One drunken night she meets Ash and the next morning she kicks him out of her hotel room, but she never forgot him. When she starts to receive death threats, her manager hires a security firm to keep her safe. Much to her surprise, the man assigned to protect her is Ash. Ash is former special forces and is shocked to see the woman he could never find again. Ash has some musical experience and is assigned to protect Rae because she wants to finish a new album while in hiding. Ash has issues he is also running from in his past. I loved this book and really loved Ash and Rae together. When they are forced together in hiding away from her stalker, they are forced to deal with the past. I loved how they accepted each other and their past mistakes. They had explosive chemistry which led to some really steamy scenes. I loved Ash's alpha male with being soft when needed. Another great one from Rebecca.
I love protector for hire books and this one did not disappoint! I was hooked from the very first page and could not put this book down. There was lots of action and drama within the pages as well as some VERY hot and steamy moments. The chemistry between Ash and Rae is off the charts and as hard as they try to deny it, they both are being drawn together. There is also major suspense going on because the reason Rae and Ash are thrown together is because there is a dangerous stalker out to get her. I loved all of the characters in this book, not just the main two. They were all written in a way that made me want to know more about their story as well.
This was my first book from this author, but it will definitely not be my last! This is a must read book for sure. - By Alisa
This is my first book by Rebecca Norinne and it was the blurb that intrigued me and I was really surprised about how much this one really got my attention. I've read other books with a similar theme, but Ashes to Ashes took it to another level. It was a brilliant read, it had me hooked from the first chapter. Reading how Rae hits rock bottom in her life with booze and sleeping with a whole lot of men and then slowly begins to build herself back up with the help of Ash Devereaux when an obsession throws them both together. Ashes to Ashes has suspense, romance and all with a hot twist that comes together brilliantly at the end. It's an amazing story. A must read!
