Rate this book
A girl’s disappearance in a small town leads to a disturbing pattern.

The hunt for a kidnapper reveals a conspiracy unlike anything seen in the small town of Odessa, Texas. Notes left for investigators claim to be from the kidnapper, taunting them along the way and mentioning one former-detective by name, Miriam Sandoval. Miriam is then enlisted to help crack the case, but what she finds results in more troubling questions, including dead suspects who aren’t working alone. Leaks soon compromise the case, and Miriam is left with the difficult decision of holding back or doing things her way. The clock is ticking, and the deadly game of a demented predator has just begun. Can Miriam solve the mystery in time, or will the missing girls’ suffer a tragic fate into the unknown?

Action Packed

If you've read any of Roger Hayden's previous work, you may remember how Detective Miriam Sandoval saved herself and her daughter Ana from a sadistic killer back in Florida. Now living in Phoenix, Miriam is asked to fly to Odessa Texas. A young girl is missing and the kidnapper is asking for Miriam by name. A well written story that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Loved your books

I especially liked how these books were centered around Midland Odessa where I live. It Made the stories very real and I enjoyed them much better since I could relate to the towns. Can't wait to read more

This series kept me in suspension right up to the last page.

I found it frustrating that it kept getting scrambled up but it probably was the device I was reading on or the way I pulled it up. I think a hard copy would probably be better.

SHE HAD TO FIND THEM

This was really good. The author is a great storyteller. I think it would be better as one book instead of three. It would flow much better that way. However, it was a great mystery. The determination of Miriam was unbelievable.

Keeps you reading!!

The book flows with details that are not too complex yet builds a visual in your mind of what the story line would look like in a movie or real life. Although the plot develops over time, it flows well with the ending. Great read!!

I have read all 3 of these books. When a serial child abductor shots Detective Miriam's partner right in front of her and then gets away, she takes things personal. Little did she know just HOW personal it was going to get! After her partner was shot and killed, the police dept made her the scapegoat, so she quit her job and started life anew working as a dispatch for a trucking company. Then the FBI comes looking for her. Why? Because she was the only one who came close to catching him. A congressman's daughter is kidnapped and the pressure is on to find her. When Miriam discovers where the girl is hidden underground and saves her, unfortunely the kidnapper again escapes. Miriam thinks that's the end of things. She goes home and finds her soon to be ex husband in her house with his throat cut and their daughter is missing. Does Miriam save her daughter? At what cost? This is a very well written book(s) that goes a bit on the dark side, but not too dark. A very good mystery. I recommend it to those who think they can figure out stories easily.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first book that I downloaded free. Was disappointed that I had to purchase the next two books to continue the story. Was able to purchase Omnibus with all the books in one for a lower price. Wish my local library carried the books. Story was good, wished the ending had more to it.

Good story. Would be better with a little work.

Would be a better story with a little more editing. A few inconsistencies and a lot of grammar errors. I would have given this series a higher rating if I hadn't been disrupted due to so many mistakes.

Excellent story

I am very pleased with this story after having suffered the frustration of reading the prequel and left hanging from the cliff. I bought the omnibus and was able to read the entire story in one day! It's pretty awesome.

This is the first time that I've read a book by this author. I consider it to be more mystery then thriller. I carried my book around with me for the past 8 weeks as I traveled. It took me a long time to finish because it wasn't suspenseful enough for me to return to it.

Great suspense

Great plot but there were several times the author got names wrong - Philip's brothers and one of the kidnap victims

Miriam

This is not the kind of book that I usually read but I really liked it. I would get to a part where I knew something important was about to happen, would put it down then pick it back and read some more. Really good book.

Boring.

Ranks up there in the top ten most boring.....Too easy to figure out, no surprises here, and the story seems to drag on endlessly. Also , this author needs to teach his more monkey that past and passed cannot legitimately be used interchangeably.
