After

Rate this book
Alex's biggest concern used to be whether to go to college. Perhaps he would follow in his father's footsteps and join the military. After the bombs began to fall, his only concern was with survival. Rushed to a secret facility, Alex and his father were placed into cryogenic stasis. The others tried to reassure him he was safe. His last thoughts were of his still-missing mother. The next time he opened his eyes, he was alone. He stepped out onto a bloody floor, his chamber mates murdered in cold blood. His father was missing. Now he steps out into a world he doesn't know, unaware of how many years have past without him. A wasteland out of time awaits him, full of dangers he does not understand. Even so, he vows to find his mother and father, no matter the cost. Follow along as Alex faces a strange new world of mutated animals, futuristic technology, and an unfolding battle between factions bent on leading the country into a new era. Can this young man out of time survive in a world he barely recognizes? This revised edition features improved dialogue and action with minor grammatical and formatting improvements. The story you've come to love remains the same.

50 years of being frozen in time(cryogenicially frozen) Alex is awake and in a whole new world after the five minute war. He's on a mission to find his father and what has become of his mother. He will make friends along the way and a couple enemies. I enjoyed this book alot. Not my normal genre but when your husband writes a book you read it. The sequel was great as well.

50 years have passed what will Alex find?

Frozen in a secret military cryo-facility when the five minute war began. Alex is trying to find out what happened to his parents. The world he finds himself in has no transportation, no internet, no comunication. This was great book for your first. I enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. I hope you will continue this story about Alex. Please continue to develop your writing skills. I look forward to reading many more of your book's.

Wow, for a first novel I am very impressed. The story held my attention throughout, with varied and interesting characters. The After world was well crafted and believable and felt like I was reading a story set in the Fallout universe. There was plenty of excitement and emotion. I would love to read more about the trials of Alex in further novels.

Solid read- enjoyable story

This isn’t my usual genre but I picked it up in recommendation from a friend in my writer’s group.
Prescott’s story is engaging- I particularly enjoyed the evolving character interactions/ developing friendships.
I recommend this to those who enjoy speculative fiction, post-apocalyptic stories, and adventure.

I was initially a little worried this would be too young-adult for me, but was very pleasantly surprised as to how this story unfolded. There were some editing issues, but didn't distract much from the very solid plot, mystery and character development. The ending was bittersweet and very well done.
