Pastor Dale Ballard of the Open Bible Church is on the brink of having the church building of his dreams. He loves his growing congregation and would do anything for them. But when factions collide over how to handle an unmarried youth group leader's pregnancy, he is forced to choose. Will he stand alongside a heart-broken young woman or move forward with the building committee's plans for the church's prosperous future?

Well written

The story engages one from the opening pages. True to life and in the details. Christians have difficult and painful things in their life that God uses to help us grow and often lead others to Him.

I was really eager to read this book because more than 40 years ago, I had the desire to write a story about a woman who was pregnant as a result of rape. My goal was to celebrate life in the midst of tragedy. A family member had two "normal" children and one severely handicapped child. Although she was on the pill, she became pregnant again when the handicapped child was very young. Her husband was in the military, and the military doctors pressured this family member to have an abortion. They said they didn't know why her daughter was born with spina bifada, and it was possible the child she was carrying could have the same condition. This person was stressed beyond belief wondering how she would care for two severely handicapped children if the new baby also had spina bifada. Of course, back then they didn't have the ability to determine whether the child was handicapped in the womb. However, she said, "I can't kill my baby." Praise God, the new baby was perfectly healthy, and years later, the doctors determined that the cause of the other child's spina bifada was her father's exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam.

That experienced inspired me to want to tell the story of someone who had to make the decision between killing her baby and facing serious problems by carrying the baby to term. However, I decided to write about a rape victim as even people who claim to be pro-life often make an exception in the case of rape. I have actually started this book and written several chapters twice, but I never was able to finish it.

So I was very glad to see that someone had written on this theme--advocating for life without being preachy about it and telling a wonderful story. I loved the romance and the faith of the characters showing my favorite Scripture: God works all things together for good to those who love the Lord, to those who are called according to His purpose.
