Flame: A Life on the Game

Rate this book
The year is 1971, and working class life in Liverpool holds little promise for fourteen year old Stephen as he waits fo leave school. Two years before, he'd had a love affair with a construction worker. Then during the school holidays he'd tried out a new role, dressing and living as a woman in a Midlands town. Now it has to be London and the bright lights.

So when his teacher told him he'd no ambition, Stephen just kept dumb and thought to himself: " I'm not going to stay around here working in a factory, honey. I'm going OUT THERE, where there's LIFE. I'm going to be a prostitute, just like my mum."

Stephen became Flame - and this is his true story.
